Hey so this doesn't have anything to do with thr bracket, but I could use some help on this:

I have some fruit trees. They are my babies. But they are having some problems and I have no idea how to diagnose it. I made a r/plantclinic post (2 posts actually) but have not gotten a single reply to my questions. The post is here and if you could give some info that would be amazing, but even if you know nothing about plants it would help a lot if you could go give the post an upvote so that the algorithm actually picks it up and people on there can actually see it.

Sorry for the unrelated post, but I hope it isn't too annoying.

also making it its own post. rate some nonbinary words for me

I'm fine w binary folks talking it! i made the questions abt if you you would use the term for yourself optional so you can just answer whether or not you like them

interesting observations so far:

  • genderqueer & [identity-as-noun] seem to be the most popular; people really like genderqueer
  • people tend to like old english-derived stuff. if i had to guess its cool vibes + more natural English sounds than x/z-derived words

more (& more in-depth) observations:

  • Most people feel neutral-to-negative about the -en/-an words, and the majority don't want to use them for themselves. The Old English words are better received on the love/hate scale but still not preferred for usage.
  • I think "fidant/fidants" would probably have more use as an gender neutral or NB/GQ alternative for lady/gentleman since it already has honorable connotations. Its already fairly well-received and I think more people would use it for as a role label rather than as an alternative to man/woman (might make another survey for alts for roles dad/mom/aunt/uncle/etc.? since some people have expressed interest in that)
  • People seem to either be neutral on the idea of NB/GQ nouns, be uninterested or against them, or be very into them and find them useful/affirming.
  • A major factor in whether or not people use a word (aside from general opinion on new nouns & the sound of the word) is how well-known it is, which makes sense! I made this survey largely bc I was curious which words I've been sent people would actually be interested in using. The problem, ofc, is that a lot of people won't use something they have to explain over and over, but neologisms need to be used by someone first before they become common knowledge, so its kind of a chicken-and-the-egg thing. You need a word that likable enough that people want to use it for it to actually get popular, which can be tough. if nothing else i hope this survey exposes people to some new possibilities for genderqueer language & maybe something will come of that

I'm gonna continue to let this survey run for a while (maybe a few more days? idk) and when its done I'll throw all the numbers together and report what I found :)

Didn't see it in FAQs so- what's the difference between propaganda and anti-propaganda? I've seen both in your answered asks and I can't tell the difference

Honestly its so confusing at this point even I don't really know. Technically there are only 2 kinds of "effective" propaganda for this bracket: anti-propaganda and postmortem propaganda. There technically shouldn't be regular propaganda. The later is where you try to convince people to check out a thing you like, but only after they have already lost, so it doesn't even effect the results of the poll it's just for fun.

But the confusing part is anti-propaganda. When I coined the phrase I used it for when you give propaganda about the opponent of your blorbo, to increase the odds of your blorbo winning. But I also think now people are using it for when they can't wait until their blorbo is eliminated, so give propaganda now even if it hurts their chances, since they too are confused by the confusing system.

However you also have to consider that someone could just be lying about what kind of propaganda they're giving so that their blorbo has an advantage (ie labeling the first definition of anti-propaganda as regular propaganda)

Tldr: a combination of mindgames, and lack of restraint is creating a multi layered pile of confusion. So the phrases are basically used interchangeably by this point. Hope this made it less confusing but I doubt this did.

Definitely a good idea:

Split both/neither into the following:

I know both characters well

I know both characters, but only 1 well

I know both characters, but not well

I don't know either character, but I know both of their medias of origin

I dont know either character, but I know the media of origin of one of the characters

I know neither character nor their medias of origin

These are definitely good choices that should be implemented :)

Ok this one id definitely satire. I mean I could in theory see someone saying unironically this but it would be an anon asks. Also just for fun I decided to do a little mock up to see how this would look.

As a reminder only the top two options would effect the results at all.

Ps hopefully seeing how goofy this looks will make some of the pro both/neither split people realize my side. Cause while this obviously is exaggerated 50% of the options being irrelevant is still a lot.

the webcomic

Prop of ganda for Katia from the webcomic Prequel!

Prequel is a comic set in the world of The Elder Scrolls: Oblivion. Katia is the main character, a Khajiit who is ABSOLUTELY a poor little meow-meow. Everything she does is doomed to fail. (I don't know how literal this is; I haven't finished the comic yet.) The comic covers all her shenanigans as she tries (and fails) to pay rent.

Prequel the webcomic is a MSPA-style forum game of a sort; the direction the comic takes is influenced by the readers's suggestions (represented as the voices in Katia's head). It's a lot of fun, and it's been running for a pretty long time! I'd recommend checking it out!

To celebrate 1 whole month of polls I made this using nothing but MS Paint and a nonexistent knowledge of graphic design

Feel free to do with it what you will. Print it out and turn it real. Shrink it down real small and put it on your pfp where it isn't even readable. Or you can even do nothing at all. The possibilities are endless.

I submitted Kimmy into the bracket I am not surprised to see them winning round 1 but I am kind of surprised to not see as many votes for King Cave Story as I expected. So here is some propaganda for Cave Story. AKA what the hell are you doing? Why haven't you played Cave Story? It is literally free. and it is so important.

Cave Story is a 2004 indie flash game developed by Daisuke Amaya over the course of five years. Despite the fact its nearly 20 and a flash game it still really holds up and unlike most flash games that are quick and cute time wasters (which i adore) Cave Story is a full video game with so much attention to its world, mechanics, and story. Its a very well made metroidvania type game and it also has plenty of its own ideas. I also wanna stress that this game came out in 2004. That is before games like minecraft and megaman 9 brought pixel art back into the mainstream, the same year xbox live arcade started (and before it became the spot for indie games), and before nintendo was offering its old games for digital download. It is one of the indie games that started it all. Cave Story is often cited as a favorite game and source of inspiration for many indie devs even now. It started a lot of people onto making flash games and Toby Fox has taken it as a clear inspiration with both the designs of the Mimiga (which King is one of) being the inspiration for characters like Toriel, Asgore, and Asriel and also even the name undertale is meant to be a play on Cave Story (get it. under = cave tale = story?) I sadly do not have as much to say about King specifically he is a very cool character but was not one of my favorites (I hope the submitter for King can chime in for him) but I have held for a long time that we as people on tumblr and indie game fans owe a lot to Amaya and Cave Story and it is sad to me to see it go more unknown then I feel it should. So play Cave Story! its free if you can get flashpoint working and also is on many platforms with the enhanced Cave Story+. Be a little wary of the switch version though as it is double the price of the steam one which is pretty lame.

Yona is so cute and I want to love her. But she has no character nor story involvement besides being Sidon’s not-gay card. Like they could have made her the water sage so we could actually see her do something and be her friend too. There’s no bisexual polycule option if she’s just a stranger to Link. Or have Yona and Sidon be the awkward just met each other arranged marriage couple, with Sidon worrying over his new wife arriving right when the whole place is covered in shite (gotta work hard on that cleaning magic or be hated by your new spouse) and Yona worrying over being seen as an useless outsider (gotta work even harder or face the wrath of Sidon’s fanclub), then have the story wrap up with them talking and getting more comfortable with Link as their wingman. That would’ve been a good satisfying story. But no they’re all lovey-dovey childhood friends even though there was nothing indicating she existed in BotW. In universe Link hadn’t even known she exists before meeting her in game. Sidon is supposed to be our best friend but didn’t bother telling us he has a GF. That’s kind of an asshole move tbh. And then in the story we got she feels shoehorned in: So Sidon is being an overprotective worrywart over her because of his dead sister angst, so Yona has to tell him to pull his head out of his ass, go help Link solve the mess and leave the water upkeep duty to her and the rest of the Zoras. But it doesn’t really need Yona for that story to work. Sidon’s king dad just got hurt badly, best friend Link lost an arm and almost died in the uprising, a lot of Zoras, including children, are in critical condition and Zelda is still missing. There’s plenty of reason for Sidon to be overprotective due to fear of losing loved ones other than a new love interest.

You can’t just pull out new character with zero build up, tell us that she’s supposed to matter by marking her ingame as an important NPC, and then not give her significant story involvement nor memorable character traits besides cool design. That just feels like wasted potential or that someone paid for their OC to be added into the game and the devs had no idea how to write them in organically. Nintendo did her so dirty.

That one part of the BotW 2 trailer Nintendo didn’t show because it revealed too much plot info.

Based off that one scene from Skyward Sword:

Semi-Final Side A

Sonic The Hedgehog

  • "Sonic gets sucked into Camelot and wields the talking sword Caliburn. He kills King Arthur, who is revealed to be a fake created by Merlin. In the final battle, Caliburn transforms into Excalibur; afterward, Caliburn explains that the fact that Sonic is his wielder means Sonic is the true King Arthur."
  • "As a known supporter of trans rights, openly ACAB and constantly making people aware of bisexuality, I think Sonic would be exactly the king that England needs right now"

King Arthur Baking Company

  • "They are the best quality flour imo, and the company is employee owned (go workers!). Also the all purpose flour can be used for anything, including ruling England"

Do it! Eat the competition!

ngl if a bi girl is talking about a hot guy and shes like “im so gay” you dont get to be like “but-” no buts. shes feeling queer about it.
