“Hello! You’re new here, right? I don’t think we have met yet, my name is Kalani!”
“Oh, hi! Not really new, just isolated. But I’m cool with it, I didn’t expect anyone to approach me. But now that you’re here…I’m Ayana Kani. You have a beautiful name, Kalani. “

“Oh! I’m sorry to hear that! Isolation can help clear thoughts but can also cause loneliness…are you trying to focus on something? Thank you! I think Ayana is a wonderful name!”
“Oh, it’s ok. I don’t really fit in here, that’s why people don’t come to me. No, I mean I’m trying to figure out why my father sent me here but it’s hard when people try to tell me what to do. It’s nice of you to try and help me, do you do this with every new student? Thank you, my father gave it to me. Speaking of names, where are you from exactly?”
“Really? I am sure you just have not met the right people yet, not everyone can be best of friends, you know? I think it’s a shame people don’t come up to you, I was told you are a very nice person. No not really…just the ones I notice I guess? Who is you father? Parents don’t tell us things for a lot of reasons, I am sure he knew what he was doing! I’m from the island of Motonui, what about you?”
“Ah, fair. I don’t expect that to happen, really. I don’t even want it. But it’s just difficult to fit in here, you know? To say that it’s a culture shock would be an understatement after living in the Pridelands all my life. I suppose you might understand what I’m talking about. My father is Rafiki, shaman and royal advisor of the Lion King. You know, he used to be a baboon. Nothing like any of the royals whose descendants study here, for better or worse. Though, now that you mention it…he does have a habit of telling riddles instead of giving straight answers. I suppose I shouldn’t be that worried, but I wanna make him proud too. Ah, Motunui. I heard about you guys, the voyagers of the sea. That has to be amazing, seeing so many things and never settling.
“It is difficult to fit in someplace new...but that can be the point of adventuring! And you don’t have to fit in, or be like other people, you’re really cool! The culture shock is so real, Auradon is nothing like home! The Pridelands sound so beautiful! He sounds like the type of parent to have a reason for sending you here. It’s nkt a big type of adventure but it is an adventure! And you can always learn something from somewhere new! Auradon is a big place so you can find a something that you like here that isn’t found back home?”
