Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible.
Hi Ashley, I love that you have "My Tags" on the face page, that is so handy and makes it so easy to locate things that interest me. How or where did you go to learn how to do that? Is it easy? I'm an old geezer and not that computer savvy, but I have over 8,000 posts so it would be so handy for my followers.
Always happy to help an old geezer out 💗
The first step is to create a side blog for all your tags. If you’ve never created a side blog before, up at the top left corner of your screen, next to your blog name, there should be a Chevron. Click the Chevron and you should see a button to + Create New Blog. Every individual blog page on tumblr automatically is assigned a URL. This is the URL to my tags page:
http://ashleyactual-fin-tags.tumblr.com
The name of the blog is at the same location in every URL. Simply erase my side blog name (ashleyactual-fun-tags) and type in your side blog name for a hyperlink that goes directly to your new side blog.
Next create a new post on your main blog, and type words that say “link to all my tags” or something like that. Next, double click on the words you’ve written to “select them” and this should automatically open the text editor on tumblr. With the words highlighted, look to the bottom right for a symbol that looks like this: < s > That is the button to add a hyperlink. It will add a hyperlink to the words that you have highlighted. You want to paste the link to your side blog in the field provided and publish the post. You will likely want to pin the post so that it is always at the top of your main blog page for anyone who visits your blog to see.
That was the hard part. The next part is easy once you know how to hyperlink, but it is a little time consuming. On the new side blog that you created, you want to create a new post, and here you will just list all the tags you want to use. First make a simple list of your ten most commonly used tags.
art
surfing
Etc.
Just like every tumblr blog name has a URL, each user’s tag has a URL. For each of those tags that you have listed, you will double click on a word, then use the text editor to create a hyperlink to the tag’s specific URL. They all follow the same format:
Http - main blog name - .tumblr.com - /tagged/ Tag Name
On my list, for the word art, I add this hyperlink:
http:ashleyactual-fin.tumblr.com/tagged/art
For the word surfing, I add this hyperlink:
http:ashleyactual-fin.tumblr.com/tagged/surfing
And so on. You can first post your list of tags with just one or two to test it, then you can always go back and edit the post to add new tags and hyperlink to new content later. There is a limit to how many hyperlinks you can have on one blog post. I forget the number, but if you look at my own tags list, that’s probably close to the limit.
If you ever want to have a two word hyperlink, like a person’s name, Gal Gadot for example, the hyperlink must have a + symbol instead of a space. The real tag is just Gal Gadot. The words on your list of tags would just be Gal Gadot, but the hyperlink itself needs to be Gal+Gadot.
I hope this helps! Good luck and thanks for the question @fcb3

I'm sorry, Neil Gaiman has no social media.
