How screwed are you?
Hello! Sorry to bother you- I've been trying to find the anti-scraping code people can add to their works published on A03. I didn't know if perhaps you knew about it/could point me in the right direction to find it.
I'm coming back to A03 after a hiatus, and I just would rather not fear my work be stolen.
I had no idea such a thing existed. Thatβs cool if it works. Be nice to unlock my fic again.
If you're posting on AO3, this isn't something you have to worry about as an individual, they did it for you. They added the flag that tells Common Crawl not to scrape their website, and implemented a few backend features that also help limit "robot" access to their website.
If you're posting on your own website you can look up how to implement these yourself!
Ah, thank you for the info!
I'm listening to this audiobook for fic research and listen to this quote about a house burning down π (sound on)
reconsuming the source material before writing fic to pickle your brain in the characters' voices
ok was talking to a friend and now iβm crazy curious:
expand on ur answer in the tags if you want & rb for more answers pls pls pls !!!!
Every fic I like enough to bookmark, I download a copy for my own personal archival use. Because I have been in fandom long enough to lose hundreds of beloved stories when the author leaves fandom and/or the archive goes down. If an author wants to take their work down that's their right, and I certainly would not share their story without permission. But I do want a copy for myself.
I don't just download fics to put on my text-to-speech eReader, I specifically make my own fics into ePubs. Nothing like seeing their cover art all lined up in my app. π€
Goal: Achieved
My AO3 overall word count for published fics just passed half a million.
Reminder that I have only been writing fanfiction for just shy of 1 year.
Sorry but as someone with debilitating ADHD I just want to bask in this one accomplishment for as long as I can.
i had three fic ideas.Β wrote one.Β i still have three ficΒ ideas.Β this is not how math is supposed to work.
can this post please back up itβs too close to home
I had five ideas, I wrote two, now I have seven
Listen. Theyβre called βplot bunniesβ for a reason, and itβs not just because they hop around all over your brain demanding attention.

this post walked into my house and kicked in my ribs
For anyone who ever asked me where ideas come from. They creep in and breed when youβre making something else.
I am consuming a media and you are going to hear about it
and the thrilling sequel: i consumed a media months ago and you are still hearing about it
and the cautionary conclusion: the media has consumed me
just some observations Iβve made
I've been working on this project for a while and I think it's time to show them off. These are propaganda/health and safety reminder posters for the Office for the Preservation of Normalcy, an organization that deals with the supernatural in a canon I'm working on. I have some lore I'm working on, but these posters will be the main thing that exists for now. The "sample" watermark is because I would like to sell higher-quality printouts and files in the future.
At this stage I'm looking for feedback. How do they look visually? Could a tagline be punchier? Please please let me know what you think.
well see it can do the work of the colon, the semicolon, or the parenthesis with more speed and less formality than any of these, plus you can use it to capture the stream-of-consciousness effect of a comma splice with much less loss of clarity. sort of an all-purpose punctuation for the casual yet elaborate written construct.
I believe in the em-dash because the em-dash believes in me
Nothing warms my heart more than to see like a fanbase thatβs otherwise dead except for 1 or 2 autistics having the time of their lives digging into every crevice of whatever unpopular thing theyβre into for information to enrich their brains. They are literally the backbone of the internet they do more work than god where else would we get people that care about like web graphics for a lost promotional item from a dead videogame released in 2008. Key to media preservation
