How do you get through when you're unmotivated?
Well, I just do. Sorry if that sounds insensitive, but let me explain.
A slump is a slump regardless of whether or not you force yourself to get stuff done. If you do, usually you end up being unproductive or unhappy with your output. On top of your efforts not paying off, you're also emotionally exhausted from trying (and failing) to be productive. Here's what I do instead (after a lot of trial and error)...
Nothing. If you don't feel like doing anything, Just Don't (come at me nike). Eventually you're bound to get bored of doing nothing, or you stumble across a video, ora quote that gives you a glimmer of motivation. And slowly you gain momentum again.
Motivation comes in waves. You can't ride a wave that doesn't exist, nor can you force still water to be one. Ride the wave until it lasts, then wait for the next one to come.
Now all this being said, I do have an academic safety net: my bare minimum. This is a lot to explain concisely but there are things that all of us do even when we are at our absolute lowest point: showering, eating, brushing your teeth, etc. As a student, it is so important to make studying one of your bare minimums. For me, doing 30-minutes of uni work is a bare minimum along with skincare, showering and brushing my teeth. Its initially hard to incorporate this into your routine, but once you make it a habit, no slump can get in your way.
I'm sorry if this was useless but I tried my best here. I have been compiling a list of tips for exactly this, so let me know if you're interested so that I can speed up that process and post it sooner!
