“AND WHAT IS BEAUTY? TERROR.”

WAYS TO SUPPORT/BE AN ALLY

Here is a compilation of places to donate (IF you can, simply reblogging and sharing this can help) and petition to sign. I found these websites and organizations on twitter.

DONATIONS

PETITIONS

  • Willie Simmons has spent 38 years in prison for a $9 robbery. He had two prior convictions similar to robbery that he served time for. He was prosecuted under the Alabama Habitual Offender law and was given a life sentence for his third strike - stealing 9 (NINE) dollars. Sign his petition.
  • Breonna Taylor was killed by police who were conducting an UNANNOUNCED drug raid, where they gave no request to enter. They bashed her door and entered, shooting her EIGHT times. They were in the WRONG HOUSE.
  • George Floyd was killed by a police officer who knelt on his neck and suffocated him to death, after George pleaded with the officer and told him he couldn’t breathe. The officer had pulled him from where he sat in his car on an alleged FORGERY. You can also text “FLOYD” to 55156
  • ARREST THE OFFICERS WHO KILLED GEORGE FLOYD: The main police officer who murdered George is being kept in PROTECTIVE CUSTODY. You probably have heard he was arrested, but this is NOT TRUE. He was placed under PROTECTIVE custody because of the riots and “threats” on his life.

If you know of ANY other organizations or petitions, PLEASE ADD TO THIS LIST. The fight for justice doesn’t end here, it will never end. Especially when the president of the United States calls white supremacists good people and protesters of a mans death THUGS. USE YOUR VOICE. NO JUSTICE, NO PEACE. FUCK COPS. FUCK “BLUE LIVES”. ALL BLACK LIVES MATTER!

the minnesota freedom fund is asking folks to donate to other organizations instead. the specific ones they listed are black visions, linked above, and these two:

  • northstar health collective, organized healthcare professionals working with anti-authoritarian groups
  • reclaim the block, a collective that aims to redistribute funding away from police and towards more community-oriented projects in minneapolis

these are the links i send to my facebook friends who keep running their mouths about “the protests hurting the community”

  • minnehaha food shelfcalvary church food shelf are both centered in the south minneapolis area where the riots started. the grocery stores in the area have been decimated, so food shelves and food insecurity charities need a lot of love right now.
  • northside funders group is a philanthropic group in the twin cities that’s using all its funds right now for helping local businesses
  • migizi is a native american media/history nonprofit whose office was destroyed in the riots
  • we love lake street is devoting funds specifically towards rebuilding the lake street area in south minneapolis

some more groups that could use your help

  • the healing justice foundation is a national nonprofit that’s specifically focusing on mental health resources for bipoc right now
  • ctul is a nonprofit focused on low-wage workers and workers rights in minnesota
  • mpd 150 is focused on policing and specifically trying to reroute the conversation from “we need to change police procedures” to “the police need structural reform”
  • the spiral collective is providing funds for supplies, medic kits, and other things that protesters will need on the ground
  • unicorn riot is a media collective that has had people on the ground filming every night in minneapolis

last but not least some more bail funds

Hey guys,

I’ll make this short. Today a racist idiot burned our car completely. It can only be sold for scrap because the motor, brain and sensors are fried.

We’re a family of black latine immigrants. we did not get any stimulus checks. I was forced to drop out cause I can’t pay for college so I’m using my shop to sustain my family, and without a car this is just so, so much more difficult.

I beg of you. If you’ve ever used these:

Please. please consider boosting and/or donating. I’m in complete shambles over this.

Thank you ♥

The Mexican government cares more about buildings and monuments than the 10 women and little girls killed EVERY DAY in the country.

They surrounded the “National Palace” with metal walls to prevent “vandalism” from paint, glitter and banners like last year.

They protect and defend the walls from paint better than they protect us from being kidnapped, raped, killed or letting our abusers roam free.

They placed walls to protect their buildings from the upcoming March 8th Woman’s Day march, but we still found a way to protest and make our voices known.

“Femicide Victims” written in big letters with paint across the metal walls, and underneath the names of the women and girls who aren’t with us anymore.

As the day passed phrases were projected on the front of Palacio Nacional like:

“Femicidal Mexico”

“A rapist will not be governor.”

And soon enough more and more women joined in and gathered at the Zocalo to place, signs, pictures, flowers and more stuff to remember the ones that aren’t here with us anymore and to take over something that was meant to shut us out at the beginning.

“The wall that got turned into a memorial”

We are tired, we are angry, we are worried and scared. We are often demonized by the mexican media and mocked by many other mexicans for protesting in different ways, from peaceful to non-peaceful. But we will keep fighting and raising our voices!

For our sisters

For our mothers

For our aunts

For our daughters

For our grandmothers

For everyone who isn’t here anymore.

This is just a little bit of everything that’s happening in Mexico, I encourage you to share and search more about this subject. (https://abcnews.go.com/International/380-women-killed-mexico-year-activists-cultural-change/story?id=69258389)

Help us raise our voices, help us be heard!

IMPORTANT! PLEASE READ IF YOU CARE ABOUT THE ASIAN COMMUNITY AND WHATS HAPPENING TO THEM!

hi guys! i dont normally make posts like this, but i feel like i need to speak out due to the platform i have on this app. recently, i’m sure you’ve been made aware of the violent and disgusting covid-based hate crimes targeted towards asians lately, not only in america, but pretty much everywhere. this type of behavior towards someone based on their race or ethnicity is absolutely inexcusable and vile. whether the attacks are micro-aggressions or physical assault, it is still harming the asian community and further associating asians with covid-19.

while this post may be informative, i am still white passing, meaning i have not experienced racism targeted towards me before. i can only provide so much information, as i have not been the target of racism-fueled attacks. i highly recommend that you read other resources written by bipoc in order to get a better understanding of what’s happening!

what can you do to help?

firstly, if you see a person getting attacked (verbally, physically, etc.) protect them! calmly intervene if it is safe for you to do so or inform the nearest authority figure near you.

reprimand your peers for their racism! racism comes in all shapes and form; it doesn’t just boil down to hate crimes and slurs. racist stereotypes you may think are ‘jokes’, micro-aggressions, and even drawing harmful assumptions on a person just because of their race are all examples of racism.

amplify asian voices! the asian community is speaking up against the surge of hate crimes, however, a lot of it is covered by media and algorithms! do research, listen to podcasts, watch interviews, repost, etc! the asian community is speaking, we have to listen.

use your privilege for the better. if you are white or white passing, it’s a given that you are born with more privileges based off of your appearance. while this privilege is unfair, we can still use our privileges for the better. if you see someone being discriminated against do not be afraid to speak up and say something! protect anyone you witness being the victim of racism-fueled aggression. use your platform to speak up about hate crimes!!

do not speak over bipoc voices! do not dismiss it if a bipoc person is telling you they would feel more comfortable if you did or didn’t do something; listen if they tell you a certain thing you or another person said or did was racist or wrong; let them use their voice! you can do this by allowing them to speak up on your platform (no matter the size), supporting them if they make a post or statement surrounding their experience as a bipoc, or just by listening to them!

finally, here are some resources that you should go read/support that will help you understand what is happening to the asian community and how you can help! this brief post i’ve made is only the tip of the iceberg, there is so much more you can do!

important + informational websites and articles

organizations

fundraisers

- (please message or send an ask if you have a personal gofundme or know of another gofundme surrounding this issue that you’d like me to add)

due to the fact that i am american, a lot of the resources are targeted more towards helping asian-americans. if you’re not from the states and have resources that could help support the asian community somewhere else, i highly recommend that you provide it whether it be in your own post or a reblog of this post!

please amplify asian voices! this post is not as informative as the ones i’ve linked and other posts that the asian community has made! please support those!!

Rent help needed!!!

*URGENT: PLEASE READ/SIGNAL BOOST*

Thursday, February 25th: Hi everyone, I’m Gemma, a bi, mentally ill disaster, who’s in desperate need of help, as I'm really struggling to pay my rent.

As most of you are already aware, I have been struggling financially for quite some time due to my welfare benefits being under a review, which is due to my worsening mental health and the UK’s controversial changes to how benefits are assessed and assigned. And at the moment, I'm currently struggling to get by, as I'm a bit behind on my rent, and I am still awaiting the outcome of my PIP assessment (March 2021 at the latest)

I'm completely heartbroken to keep asking for help, but I still desperately need some as I don't have anyone else to turn to for help.

If anyone could spare any amount to help me, even if it’s just £1/$1/€1, it would literally save my life, and sharing definitely helps just as much as donations. Nobody is obligated in any way to donate if they can’t or don’t want to, I know we’re all struggling right now.

£35/£200!!

JUSTICE FOR CASEY GOODSON

On December 4th, 2020, Casey Christian Goodson Jr. (23 years old) was shot three times in the back and murdered by a Sheriff’s Deputy as he was entering his home in Columbus, Ohio. Goodson’s family stated that he was returning home from a dentist appointment, holding a Subway sandwich, his face mask, and his keys, when he was shot.

Two days later, the Columbus Police Department made a statement alleging that James Meade, the deputy responsible for Goodson’s death, saw a man believed to be Goodson with a gun while driving. Meade then approached Goodson after he exited his car and walked home, where he was shot.

Hours after the shooting, the US Marshal for the Southern District of Ohio, Peter Tobin, confirmed that Goodson was not the fugitive they were searching for. However, Tobin also added that he believed that the shooting was justified, claiming that Goodson was shot after he refused to drop his “weapon.”

Yet another Black man murdered by the police.

DEMAND JUSTICE.
