Fandom Overload

@artemisnightingale216

From Diabolik Lovers to Attack on Titan. From Vampire Knight to Kamisama Kiss. From Marvel to DC. From HBO to BBC. We have all the stunningly handsome boys and girls.

Honestly, it’s really shameful that the furry fandom/community has jumped on werecat!Selina Kyle and Tygrus from Batman: The Animated Series. Like. There’s only two fics of them on AO3? REALLY? I mean look at them!

Like. Idk if it’s cause of how this episode aired in the early 1990s and so before the real full internet had emerged and allowed for the growth of both furries and fanfiction, but yeah. People need to know about these two.

Hey, op, what episode is this? I’m gonna go home and watch it right now

Yeah! It’s called Tyger, Tyger like the William Blake poem.

That episode was odd, in that the mad scientist was TOTALLY in it as a sex thing (kidnapping Selina, turning her into a literal catwoman, and then trying to have her boink the catman-mutant he’d created from scratch rather than transforming someone) rather than the usual money/power motives of the other evil scientists in that show. Like the reoccurring villain Dr Milo (who was later killed by Doomsday in JLU) who used a celebrity athlete’s desire for performance enhancing drugs to turn him into a science-based werewolf... I think because he knew the treatments were addictive, and he was squeezing the guy for cash in exchange for further treatments lest he turn into a wolfman 100% of the time (which kind of ends up being the case, as Batman shows up while he’s getting the cure, destroys it by accident, with the athlete seemingly stuck as a werewolf for the rest of the show but living in the woods so we never see them).

Admittedly the cat-fetish dude was a Dr Moreau homage, and a common thread in several of the film adaptations of his original novel (the Island of Dr Moreau) attempt to have Moreau trick the protagonist into sleeping with a genetically modified catwoman who is indistinguishable from a regular human (in the Brandon version she’s played by Fairuza Balk, who I think could have made a good Selina back in the day). While the cat/panther-woman was a character in the book, HG Wells never had anyone try to sleep with her, with her being turned into a potential love interest I think being introduced in the 1930s film version.

It’s very clearly an episode of The Writer’s Barely Contained Fetish. But I did find it endearing that Tygrus, once he saw that Selina wasn’t into him and that his “father” lied about how you find a mate, respected Catwoman’s feelings and agency (tbh that made me ship them even harder 😅 boy just wanted to live free in the jungle with her and no societal constraints).

I think it’s also interesting that the whole human/animal genetics blending keeps popping up in the DCAU, cause we end up with Splicers by the time we get to Batman Beyond where it’s a fully available and reversible technology to blend your genetics with animal traits. Like, clearly the writers just couldn’t let go of it.

I mean, in terms of worldbuilding once someone proved that the technology to stick animal traits onto folk was proven to both exist and be replicated (with Langstrom creating Man-Bat, his father-in-law copying his research in a failed attempt to do the same, and the cat-fetish dude all working together), I guess it makes sense that over time it just becomes more integrated with the setting as it becomes somewhat more mainstream. So by the time they get to Batman Beyond’s Gotham some fifty years after the appearance of Man-Bat they’ve gotten the tech down to the point that it’s launched an entire sub-culture, same way that Venom went from being a specialised drug created by the military into being a performance-enhancing thing sold illegally to highschool students or how Mr Freeze was able to replicate the accident that mutated himself as a billionaire worked out that it can man you effectively immortal.

In regards to Timm and Dini being into furry stuff, dunno, maybe? I know one of the things people half-jokingly said about Dini’s pre-reboot Zatanna solo stuff is that it contained a lot of stuff folk on DevArt are into (folk turned into dolls etc.) but I figured it was more a visual use of magic in the setting rather than a fetish thing.

There is definitely a small but dedicated fandom for this ship out there :D

But yeah I too am surprised there is not nearly the amount of fanart/fanfic I would have expected for it

I love that second screencap with Bruce just in the background like “WHAT IS HAPPENING”

Don’t fursecute them, Bruce <3

Bruce, you dress as a bat, I think you might be a furry too. Let Selina be happy and live her best werecat life off in the jungle island with her big werecat lover!

SHE DESERVES THIS

Also its not like this is the only half lady half cat out there.

I do love that by the time Cheetah shows up in the DCAU its not even remotely weird anymore so they just do a throw away line about how she was experimenting on herself and Bam! Cat lady.

“I turned myself into a cat to prove a theory”

“What was the theory”

“Catgirls are hot”

“YES GOOD”

They are! :D

A scientific fact :D

Because she proved it as a scientist!

There are many benefits to being a mad scientist :D

There are! :D Fun, sexy benefits!

THE BEST BENEFITS :D

Bruce: Selina looks kinda hot like an anthropomorphic Cat-woman...... I wonder if Dr. Langston has any of his Man-Bat formula left....

HEHEHEHEHEHEE

Bisexual furry threesome!

The goal we have dreamed of since science existed :D

Note that Bruce flat out seduced Cheetah to escape from that trap. He knows what evil cat-ladies like and how to talk to them.

He knows what cats like

He knows what girls want

He knows what cats like

Cats like

Cats like him O.O

Okay but y'all are sitting on the time Killer Croc and Baby Doll were kind of an item for like one or two episodes

so ya boi has been super depressed, like clinically, for way longer than usual and it led to me heading down to the local psych urgent care for an evaluation today

During the eval, which was over zoom, the person assessing me asked me if I keep any "gods or ancestral gods" in the house.

I'm thinking "weird question for a psych eval, but okay sure", and I get about two sentences into describing my weird pagan ways before she leans into her screen and says "GUNS. Do you keep any G U N S or have ACCESS TO GUNS in the house."

so that's probably the funniest thing that's happened to me recently

Quick note the kid plays Young Leia in a Star Wars show so...

1. We know how Hollywood tears kids apart so Brandon needs to be fucking extra careful

2. She works for Disney. Now while she's not on the Disney channel the only known actress to come out of that unscathed is Zendaya but Disney is EXTREMELY controlling of young stars so Brandon may have ruined her employment chances there.

3. This photo doesn't just ruin her future employment with Disney but other places since most of the time kid actors get most of their jobs with shows aimed at kids or families. Having her make art or promote an adult show or be associated with a creator/actor with exclusivy adult content might make some companies be less likely to hire unless she has done a bunch of acting already since they don't want that stuff to mix with their family friendly shit.

4. This also reminds me when I was still in the fandom how weirded out I was that they casted child actors for the young versions of Stolas, Blitzo, and Fizz. Like Helluva is animated... You don't need to that especially when the grown up versions are VERY NOT CHILD FRIENDLY. Like get a grown woman to voice the kid versions instead for gods sake.

Don't have much to add as I'll be repeating what you said anon but 100% agree. Looking deeper into this situation is all that you mentioned above, they put this child at risk career wise present and future, her safety (posting her pic on a public platform associated with an adult show/ as you said Hollywood), Brandon were so ignorant and irresponsible doing this, yeah he can't forsee all the repercussions but as an ADULT in the industry he should know and used his discretion. On the child VAs they used... sigh. Leander Lewis who voiced young Stolas is 14/15, Mason Blomberg who voiced young Blitz is 11/12, Juliana Sada is minor who voiced young Octavia. These are children Voice acting in an adult cartoon show. And its not like you can say they're used to doing VA work on adult media, this seems like their 1st time doing such work

Mason Blomberg: (9-1-1 is an adult show but it doesn't compare to helluva with its raunchy humor and content)

Leander Lewis:

Juliana Sada (again wasn't in raunchy adult shows)

And this is the post on Mason's insta announcing it and sighs to the moon, why is a child a VA on an adult show, Viv should NEVER have reached out to them to do va work, "adult cartoon, not suitable for kids" but has kid VAs on it you could've easily gotten an adult to VA your young characters.

Comes back to what I say, Viv and them don't make rational decisions like an adult should. You know your fandom is full of minors, be more active and she can since Viv is more prominent in her fandom than other creators, reprimand fans bullying and harassing minors in fandom and stick by your word and remind minors that this aint a kids show because again Viv is VERY active in her fandom. In conclusion /try to keep minors at all costs away from your adult raunchy shows. Be it them doing VA work, at cons, in fandom ect TRY TO KEEP THEM AWAY.

🙄 Y'all are just being pathetic at this point

Yes disregard the safety and well-being of minors against adult content in shows just so long you get your raunchy demon show, got it I see where your concerns lie have a nice day further.

Dude, you're all blaming the actor for this bullshit instead of blaming the PARENT(S) who is/are letting her watch it in the first place. "Oh but she can use the Internet all on her own and watch whatever-." NO. Her parents need to be MONITORING what she's watching or at the very least put a parental lock on the content. If her parent(s) can't be bothered to put in that much effort, they really shouldn't be (a) parent(s) in the first place.

And what exactly was Brandon supposed to do here? Turn her away and be the asshole who made a little girl cry because she went through all that trouble to meet a voice actor she liked but he wouldn't give her the time of day? No matter how politely he did it, people like you still would have criticized him for it and made HIM the asshole instead of the people who thought it was a good idea to take her there in the first place. It was a damned if he did, damned if he didn't situation. Oh, but he really shouldn't have posted the picture online, right? Maybe, or maybe Brandon was trying to be inclusive to his fans and share a cute moment with someone who made fanart of a character he voices. Whether or not it was traced is still up in the air, but that's besides the point.

Here's a bit of helpful advice to get some of the obvious toxicity out of your life. Just stop interacting with the content if you hate it that much and acting like you have some moral high ground while you blame entirely the wrong people. THAT'S why you're being pathetic. You clearly don't like the content and yet you're pushing your own narrative on a situation that has nothing to do with you. "But he posted the picture online so that makes it a far game for me to-!" NO. Just stop. Jesus Christ. Find something better to do with your life.

Don't make assumptions on my life you don't know me, do not tell me what and what I cannot indulge in and berate me like your whole fandom to so used to doing to people. Everything else you wrote I refer back to my 1st response made to you. You can continue to respond to me if you wish but I'm done talking to you, you are not open to civil conversation so I have no interest entertaining you further, goodbye.

And you think you know him? Or her? Who are you to tell them what to do? You're just some hypocrite wannabe undeserving of 'civil conversation' when literally everything out of your entitled little mouth is a dig at someone else. Grow up.

"If you smile too much you'll get laugh lines!!!!!" what a horrible curse, to be afraid of having happiness permanently placed onto your body

I saw a TikTok the other day of a girl who has no business worrying about wrinkles or age lines teaching people how to show emotion while using their face as little as possible

These are some troubling and stupid times we live in

okay but can we please talk about the fact that gregory

has glamrock freddy shoes? where did he get those? was he a fan of the glamrocks before the disappearances started up or before he became homeless and that’s why he took it all so personally? and maybe that’s why he trusted freddy so much off the bat to the point that he climbed inside him after he malfunctioned? or has he been staying inside the pizzaplex and just stole these along the way? i know it’s not like an important detail but i feel like we know so little about greg’s past that it’s just hinting at something more.

Someone said that in the books Gregory was helping to get the kids kidnapped, so I'm guessing he was there for a while
