What Recreators Can Do
It costs approximately $30,000 to incarcerate a juvenile offender for one year. If that money were available to Parks and Recreation, we could do the following:

- And give him four tours of the zoo, plus lunch,
- And enroll him in 50 community center programs,
- And visit the nature center twice,

- And give him two weeks of tennis lessons,

- And let him play three rounds of golf,

I believe in workers' rights and self management and the end of 'passive income' made off of other people's labor. I don't like the current legal system and state because I believe you know best how to live your life as long as you're not hurting other people. I don't necessarily want to abolish all forms of government, but I think it should be primarily focused on providing material benefits like housing, healthcare, and transportation, not controlling the public. At the end of the day, I am not a sociologist or a political scientist of any sort. These are just kind of arbitrary words to sum up what I think are decent ideas.

in general i would say that “it’s not fun if they’re totally unrecognisable” is my fandom thesis. like the point of fanfic etc is putting your favourite little guys in situations. where’s the appeal if they’ve been through so many fanon spin cycles that they’re barely even your guys anymore

Something that I think should be an important part of solarpunk aesthetics is screws.
Look at your smartphone. No screws. You've got to have specialized tools to get inside your phone to repair something. There are certain pieces of tech that are glued in place and glue can't be undone without permanently breaking the bond.
But screws!
You can take apart a broken old radio, repair what's broken, and, if you were careful in taking it apart, you can put it back together and have a fully functioning radio and all you need is a common screwdriver!
It's hard to build screws and other mechanical fasteners because it requires more planning than clamps and glues, but isn't that what solarpunk is all about‽ It's about care and sustainability and and a radio or a computer built carefully with repair in mind is a sustainable computer that stays out of landfills and in use.
