it’s like how infantilisation and sexualisation are two sides of the same coin

women are clueless and innocent flowers who need protecting. unless they’re slutty whores (see also: madonna/whore complex)

trans people are evil and hypersexual and abusing our children. unless they’re innocent confused victims of the trans cult

disabled people are fools who don’t know what they’re doing and therefore don’t have a sexuality. unless they’re drug-seeking dole bludgers who can’t be trusted around kids

etc etc etc

any group prone to being infantilised is often also prone to being sexualised, and vice versa. the moment we step outside of our bubble of innocence, we get framed as evil demons. because it’s all just dehumanisation. it’s all just a system that refuses to see us as nuanced human beings

imagine going to a house party and ask to go to the bathroom and like theres a dark souls silver knight guarding a chest in there. and like you ask him to not look but he doesn’t respond at all. He’s not like agro, or staring at you with intent, but he’s FULLY aware of your presence and watching you like you intend to steal

I think it should be illegal to make a fictional character with blue eyes, choose something else.

but- but what if its a terrible piercing blue, dark like the depths of an ocean. so unnerving and unnatural compared to the main cast that said eyes are an outlier that even gods lip would tremble for.

the dark debth of them as a horror element? :D maybe?

God I wish you guys would stop treating blue eyes as the specialist most beautiful thing in the world.

As someone who grew up being told by my at the time TRUSTED friends, that my blue eyes are bland and boring and drab and that I should hate them cause i can only comlare to to either the ocean or the sky or sapphires...

FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU. FUCK YOU.

It wasn't till I was 19 & 20 that I learned to love my eyes!! We don't call the ocean, or the sky or Sapphires, Drab, or boring or not special, or bland, etc..

TELL ME, WHAT IS UGLY ABOUT THIS?

ALSO

BLUE EYES ARE LITERALLY SPECIAL.

Avatar

Blue eyes are bland and boring and drab and you should hate them

You should wear brown contacts to look normal

guys fucking chill, theyre just eyes and no one here is in the right right now, blue eyes arent fucking special, and dont joke about them being ugly to someone you dont fucking know especially someone who already said they had issues with that.

don’t joke about that shit being ugly, and if this is some kind of “bluh bluh white people suck thing” blue eyes aren’t exclusive to white people, and even if they were you’re not being funny, just a dick.

they’re just eyes, stop being an asshole

Avatar

White people suck things⁉️ Don't mind if I do‼️‼️

I love all the eye colors, variety is cool asf. You don't look at a cluster of wildflowers and call certain ones ugly and others not. They all look good, and you can appreciate them for their equal beauty. I used to hate my eyes as a kid bcs they were grey and "devoid of color", all of my cousins' eyes were either black, brown or auburn and I felt singled out, so they sucked ass. We all looked individually different tho, bcs we varied in melanin, hair texture, and builds as a mixed First nations/Latinx bloodline. I think my eyes are pretty neat nowadays though, and I am the only one in my family who has them!

ALSO

I just found out that my eyes are in the 1%!?!? I just thought that grey eyes were as uncommon as green, but 1%???

7, 8, and 14 for the pride asks :)

7. Are you the "token" queer person in your family?
Not really, tbh. In my father's family, there is my scene queen, pan & poly cousin, Kai (She/they). Then, on my mother's side, I have my bisexual cousin Daniel (He/him). Both are parents! My mom and dad are both closeted bisexuals. I only know this bcs they keep pictures of their exes and claim they were "no longer like that" since they married the opposite gender. (Both are divorced now!)
8. Describe your gender without using any words traditionally related to gender:
I am two sides of a reflection, the one looking in and the one looking back. Both are two halves that dance in harmony to one another, never breaking their trance when togther. There will always be a reflection, whether in darkness or in light, and it can appear as anything within the moment that it appears to one's eye. It is ever changing, but constantly there, even as two halves to each other. Each a separate being of substance, never quite touching, but coexisting as a joined pair. They each have a separate role on either side of the glass, but when they come together, they are at peace.
14. How do you think other factors like neurodivergency or upbringing have impacted your identity?
Personally, I think that my neurodivergency allows me to be able to understand myself more and feel as though I am right to be how I am. It feels natural and just fits. I can go into depth about how I feel the way I do, and it makes sense to me and other neurodivergents. As for non neurodivergents, or even non cultural people, they don't understand, because it isn't simple and in terms, that they understand that white society as a whole has given us through the centuries as a basis. I say white society because that is who took over the globe at some point, which caused our ideals to align with theirs. You didn't see the singular ideals like that in other cultures, so it did come from predominately white society. This point comes into play with my upbringing as well! I was raised by a mixed First Nations mother and a mixed race, Southern father. My father was raised to be generally Christian by a Baptist mother and a Pentecostal father. My mother was raised out of church, but with Catholic and Baptist influence, as well as influence by cultural beliefs of her tribe and kin. Both of them raised me with interlapping beliefs and cultures, but since my father inforced that he was over his household, I was made to go to church with him. All of this growing up influenced me in different ways. Half of which were conflicting or against how I felt as a person. I eventually made peace with myself and my beliefs, which neither of my parents agree with entirely, but still suport me nonetheless as their child. Honestly, all of it has made me more nonwaivering in my identity.

Apologies if I sounded a bit rambly and confusing! 💖

happy PRIDE i’m here i’m queer and i believe the land should be given back to the proper indigenous stewards.

Non-Natives reblogging this are great and wonderful

Please remember that "land back" does not mean "indigenous people are mystical elves with innate epigenetic wisdom of land stewardship and they don't belong in big cities," nor does it mean "non-indigenous people can't be farmers." What it DOES mean is that "non-indigenous farmers should be paying the equivalent of property taxes to the native governments their land was stolen from." It means, "there's a great deal of indigenous scholarship on sustainable agricultural practices that farmers should be taking into account, because indigenous agriculture was more advanced than European agriculture at the time Europe invaded the Americas and western agriculture *still* hasn't caught up in terms of figuring out how to produce equivalently high crop yields without compromising the ecosystem." It means, "non-indigenous farmers should be in an intellectual discourse with indigenous agricultural scientists and indigenous peoples that still do traditional farming, figuring how to repair the damage western farming practices have done to the ecosystem."

It also means that indigenous peoples should regain the right to sustain themselves on the land according to the practices they want, and they should have free reign to perform their cultural practices and protect their holy sites, as opposed to the current model where if they try to honor their dead on public lands they get violently removed.

It also also means that if you're like me (white gardener) you do *not* go screaming headfirst into practices that uphold settler nativization; you listen to the Indigenous folks who live/d where you do - https://native-land.ca - and you honor their requirements and wishes first. Permaculture; gardening, agriculture, etc., are all tools, and how you use the tools is what matters. Your politic matters. Landback matters.

Tweet & video from witchytwitchytv on Nov 15, 2022 reading: Since @Twitch again ignored requests to feature streamers for Native American Heritage month, we decided to put something together ourselves.

From Tlingit to Diné, here are just a few of the indigenous creators you can find on Twitch 🎉

Streamers:

When it comes to textured hair there’s many styles, here some I’ve seen at powwows. Braided locs have to be my favorite style so far 💖

Reminder braids are not a universal hairstyle between tribes! I’m coming from the perspective of Great Plains tribes. I just thought I might share what braided hair means to my community and people. I see people trying to make ocs or redesigns of characters who are native but don’t actually represent us too good. Reminder to always research a tribe before making a character learn their protocols and at least try to learn something new! 🌸💖🍇

I just wanna say I love our hair! It means so much to us please take care of it🥺💖

We need everyone's help right now to protect the rainforest and Indigenous People

The Amazon Rainforest is under a massive threat. I know you've heard this a million times, but this is different. There is a piece of legislation that will decimate the rights of Indigenous people of Brazil, who have been protecting the rainforest. It's unfathomably bad. It has majority support. And they're voting tomorrow. As reported here, the Bill allows "the Brazilian government to find energy resources, set up military bases, develop strategic roads, and implement commercial agriculture on protected Indigenous tribal lands, without any prior discussion with the affected peoples."

The thing you can do—and I know this sounds overly simple—is sign this petition—and tell your friends to do the same: SIGN HERE.

As reported here, the Bill allows "the Brazilian government to find energy resources, set up military bases, develop strategic roads, and implement commercial agriculture on protected Indigenous tribal lands, without any prior discussion with the affected peoples."

Again, this bill has majority support. You may be wondering, why will a petition signed by people who don't live in Brazil make any difference? Because it will give those opposing it political air cover. It will show the world is with them.

But we need a LOT of signatures.

Please do this simple act and spread the word.
