One cool thing about early Yugi that is never touched in most adaptations is that he was really really interested in MP's dark magic despite it being so cursed it apparently caused the death of the archeologists that found it

Like when Grampa explain the "whoever solve this puzzle will be rewarded with dark power and knowledge" Yugi is even more excited about finishing it and even claims that the Shadow Games seems "cool"

(btw yami game is such an ugly translation, just use Games of Darkness if wanna keep it "faithful" smh)

I think his own interest in MP's mysteries serve to explain why he loves so much a blantly cursed item, just like Bakura and the MR, if not worse because as far Bakura knew his Ring is completely innocent; but once he solves it and gets Jounouchi as friend he never bothers to think about the dark powers he was promised (and tecnically he got)

Basically what i'm saying is that Yugi and Bakura should have been Occult Nerds together and that it would have been so much more interesting if they actively partecipated in their dark-magic-adventure instead of passively living it

Ryou: How come your cursed object gave you a friend while mine gave me a jerk? Like he doesn't even ask to possess my body, dude could at least tell me what did with it so I'm not both literally and figurativly lost all the time.

Yugi: I orginally assumed it was because I had to work for it. Like I had to put the puzzle together to get the "thing". Now I think it was just lucky on my part that I got the cooler ghost.
