it feels very pretentious and elitist to say but at the end of the day.. unfortunately many people in the world are very stupid. it's astounding to just go about your shit and find a fully functional 28 year old with the thought processes and problem solving abilities of a 14 year old.

this isn't a dig at people with cognitive disabilities at all, to be clear. i'm talking about the type of dude at a party who's an engineer, yet you end up defaulting to your "endearing small talk with your nephew" voice while talking to him because he has just, for whatever combination of circumstances, never been confronted with the need to be a person.
