the stuff going on at columbia campus rn is genuinely incredible

despite mass arrests by NYPD and several students (including rep ilhan omar’s daughter, isra hirsi) being suspended for their participation and having their university identification deactivated, the gaza solidarity encampment is still going strong well into its second day. def recommend following independent reporter talia jane who is taking part and providing live updates. (talia was the first reporter to break aaron bushnell’s self immolation in february; she was one of the reporters he contacted personally prior to the protest.)

not to brag but i spoke up in the chat for the first in an hour to make a diplomatic suggestion and two people immediately liked my message. i am getting such a good grade in being employed rn. either that or i just pissed my boss off at a time when i desperately need her goodwill to get my own major annual project done. guess we'll fucking see!!

ok. my boss responded by sending exactly the information i asked her to send (not all of the info i asked for or that we as the leadership team need, but some of it). maybe this means she's not resentful. or maybe it means she's Trying not to be resentful because she genuinely wants to be nice but will still hold it against us in really obvious ways next time she sees us in person while pretending not to be upset at all so that we can't address the conflict, only making it snowball. guess we'll see!!

I know the genie is out of the bottle and you can't go back but dear GOD I hate the mainstreamification of fandom so much

I do NOT want authors or showrunners or actors to acknowledge us or talk about fanfic or fanart or fan theories! I do NOT want people asking questions of the canon creators and getting them answered (make up your own answers, like god intended!) I do NOT want companies making jokey advertisements aimed toward fandom!

I know that fandom was never entirely underground but like... I miss that fourth wall existing, you know?
