btw absolutely report pedophiles to the fbi first. you can report to staff last considering how incompetent they are. also, if you only report to tumblr, there’s no guarantee that staff themselves will report them to the fbi. this will take you to the fbi’s cybertipline report site. fill out the information and submit it. you can also call this number if you would like to report over the phone: 1-800-THE-LOST (1-800-843-5678). mega also tells you how you can report the links. report them to get these folders taken down and stop the distribution of child p*rngraphy.
please do not copy any images. it is a crime to use the internet to distribute, download, copy, or view child p*rnography. it’s also a crime to contact minors for sex and to send sexually explicit material to minors.
additionally, many online predators use apps such as kik, wickr, and telegram. kik’s safety page is here, where you can find information on how to report kik accounts. even though wickr is being shut down, it won’t officially happen until december 2023, so please still report any wickr accounts promoting child p*rnography.

NCMEC is a great organization and has a fast turnover rate, the FBI tip line is great too but can be difficult if it doesn’t exact fit federal criteria and gets used a lot for multiple things. NCMEC also has a great resource in identifying children. the best thing you can do is report to both NCMEC and the FBI. NCMEC also deals with enticement, so if you see a blog that is enticing children to perform sexual acts or obscenity sent to a child (VERY relevant for Tumblr, unfortunately) but does not contain CSEM images, it still is reportable and your duty to report it
being exposed to SEM especially CSEM on a platform you trusted or have used for a long time is an extremely distressing and disturbing thing to go thru and unfortunately tumblr's sex crime underbelly is very real and also very skilled at moving you onto other platforms. because no matter who you are no mater how good you are with your street smarts ANYBODY can be socially engineered or manipulated which includes YOU so your best means of defense against being exposed to SEM is PREVENTION, starting on tumblr where you have to browse with caution
- don't give a moment's thought towards blogs that make you feel any sense of dread, suspicion, morbid curiosity to see how far a rabbit hole might go, or weirdness on the inside even if you haven't seen any actual incriminating material cuz if you don't feel right then it means something simply isn't right
- block and swiftly move away from blogs that tag original posts with repeat tags of the same key words with different or unfinished spellings, spacings and changing letters into different numbers, ESPECIALLY if to do with something sexual in nature. normal horny blogs do not do this because tumblr's nsfw ban makes mainstream tags unsearchable and tagging nsfw posts makes it more likely they'll get noticed so normal horny blogs kind of lay low and don't use many tags and especially not like that
- avoid blogs that have anything in their bio along the lines of like "no normie interaction" or "no external reblogging" as unsafe communities on tumblr understand that posts can be promoted to unaffiliated followers and randos by interactions, by boosting their chances of being put on peoples explore pages, being put higher in search results and by randos being exposed to people who interact with unsafe content thru reblogging their posts onto normal blogs, so these circles will try to keep things as self-contained as possible. the main way i have been exposed to these circles is by people who breach that self-containment and get into my notifs by interacting with my posts on blogs where they interact with other blogs on the fringes of these communities
- STOP GOING THRU PORNBOT BLOGS JUST TO SEE HOW BOTTY THEY AREEEE i know its so funny 2 see the 2020 version of 'hot singles in your area' especially on this website but just dont chance it because blogs that look like bots (default icon and header, untitled blog, username strings of numbers and letters or following a recognizable layout) have been/are be used by people advertising their mega.nz folders for purchase/trade
NCMECs tipline is very straightforward and easy to use and i can't recommend it enough, if you're not suicidal or at risk of harm but you're still in distress or panic after having been exposed to what you believe to be SEM and you can't call internationally to the usa, i found my country's rape crisis helpline was an incredibly helpful support where the operator will be trained to be able to talk you through the motions of this distress and will have knowledge of where in your country you can receive more tailored support whether it be other more applicable helplines, textlines or centres they can direct you towards, my country's rape crisis helpline was a freephone line and i didn't have an active cellular carrier or any cellular data but i was still able to call so don't let that worry get in the way of looking for your countrys equivalent
i hope this was an appropriate addition 2 add cuz i have been thoroughly shaken by having been exposed to CSEM after being lead offsite onto wickr & by having had sexual abuse threats directed towards me on tumblr through direct messages, both thru my running of a semipopular sideblog focused on mainly cutesy things that upsettingly worked to attract bad actors and people fringing sex crime circles on tumblr to my notifications, it shook me for months and i suffered paranoia, sleep loss, physical discomfort and mental turmoil for more than a month afterwards and still inspires fear within me over a year later. no matter how genuine honest and innocent the content you blog about is you are always at risk even on the surface web so you have to stay vigilant always and make sure your influences on the web are healthy and have a purpose for being a part of your web experience
