little known fact: this piece is incomplete, before writing the final words banksy became consumed by hubris and jacked off so hard to his artistic genius that he died. the intense blood splatter is what was left upon climax, suggesting that banksy was going to mold this piece into his magnum opus before his great fall. in mourning of this tragic event, residents of nyc suggested that banksy now be referred to as Banksy, The Big Jerk Off.

AHAHAHAHAHAH

I will never not reblog dainty deer-stepping beetle

wanna know the best thing about these trilobite beetles?

these are all ladies.ย

males look like every other beetle out there, but are the same species. it was a huge mystery for the longest time what the hell a male even looked like, or if there even were males, until they issued a money reward and someone brought in a mating pair. and they couldnโ€™t believe that they were even of the same species because of how different they look.

we have an irl species of giant monstrous ladies and tiny dainty plain males

@bogleech, this seems like something you might be interested in.

Oh the โ€œsacculettaโ€ account is now @revretch these days! Weโ€™re married and also they do an animated series about insects.

Thereโ€™s actually a number of insects who have this particular dimorphism, with โ€œlarviformโ€ females! These include bagworm moths, which is why pokemon has wormadam and mothim. It also includes several glowworm beetles and fireflies, and in fact fireflies are closely related to trilobite beetles with the same kind of larval anatomy:

The tiny head on this baby firefly is how it pulls snails out of their shells, constituting most of their diet! Unfortunately nobodyโ€™s quite certain what trilobite beetles need to eat; they only live a couple months in captivity and even labs have failed to get captive breeding going. This is unfortunate because of their shrinking habitat and poaching, since they started going viral on the internet in the 2010s people want to try them out as pets or just specimens.

Anonymous asked:

If you are going to have literally no criteria for being queer, then how can you say that anyone isn't? How can you refer to any person in any context as cis/straight?

If someone tells me theyโ€™re queer I believe them. If someone tells me theyโ€™re straight I believe them. This isnโ€™t that hard

Avatar

What so like a cis het allo person can just call themselves queer now?

What problem, exactly, are you so concerned about? I donโ€™t know if youโ€™ve noticed but queerness is still very much marginalized, itโ€™s not as โ€œtrendyโ€ as people try to act, and straight people arenโ€™t tripping over themselves to call themselves queer. And if youโ€™re worried about being โ€œtrickedโ€ by โ€œinfiltratorsโ€, like, you know those people can just say that theyโ€™re gay? Like they can lie? Theyโ€™re not going to try and โ€œsabotageโ€ queer spaces by saying โ€œhey I donโ€™t have any marginalized orientations or identities but Iโ€™m still totally queerโ€, theyโ€™d just say โ€œhey Iโ€™m super gay, love people of the same genderโ€

What, concretely, are you worried about happening? Whatโ€™s the worst thing that could happen due to inclusivity? Because the worst things that can happen due to gatekeeping are very well-known, and Iโ€™m much more scared of that

Itโ€™s less that itโ€™s trendy and more like, I like having my queer-only spaces. Also queer is a bad word. All our words are bad words. They arenโ€™t oppressed, and for a cishetallo to use a slur as their identity feels a little demeaning to me. Like I dont hate them of course but the A was never for Ally . Itโ€™s not queer to be normal

Interacting with them is cool and having them at pride Iโ€™m not opposed to but as a person whoโ€™s queer it does feel like theyโ€™re kinda dressing it up

Im gonna be honest Ive never seen people like that but like, Iโ€™m allowed to not like it

Iโ€™m not going to distrust and exclude people because of a problem you made up. If someone tells me theyโ€™re queer, I believe them

Avatar

โ€œWhen someone tells you who they are, believe them the first timeโ€ is a really popular thing to say on Tumblr when weโ€™re talking about people being assholes or whatever, but people never seem to follow that through to the logical conclusion of actually believing people when they really tell you who they are.

What queer only spaces are hets lying about to get into? Like it is either straight girls being openly straight at gay bars or conservatives dressing up as woman to say โ€œooooh, if I SAY Iโ€™m trans then you have to do whatever I say, right? Call me Princess Lovely Tits! Iโ€™m very smart at owning libs!โ€

Like, Iโ€™ve NEVER gone to a queer nerdy event and seen anyone โ€œobviously cisโ€ trying to get in. Why would they?

HAATEEEE hate actually. that overweight is considered a more pc nice term than fat. like i need the word fat to become destigmatized right now because im tired of people talking circles around trying to say chubby or big or plus size as catchalls because fat is a fine word. its fine. i know its been deemed derogatory by our culture but thats because being fat is deemed bad anyways but i think its a better word than calling people overweight like over what weight hm? what weight are you saying they are over. normal?? fuck you

Do Bug Zappers Work? Yeahโ€”About As Well As Any Other Indiscriminate Wildlife Slaughter.

Bug zappers kill bugs by the thousands. But thereโ€™s a problem: They kill the wrong bugs. They are ineffective against mosquitoes and other biting flies, and their otherwise indiscriminate killing can disrupt pollination and generally throw the environment out of balance. Plus, the force of their electrocution can spew a mist of disease-ridden bug parts out into the air. All of the mosquito experts we spoke with and every relevant university extension office we could find unanimously condemned bug zappers. To keep an area free of bugs or to prevent yourself from getting bitten, there are much better alternatives.
