yeah my family AU basically leads up to mgs1
Raikov and Volgin reunite in 1984 and adopt Tretij as their son, they start over and go live at a cabin in the woods away from society hiding from the military. They live there relatively peacefully for the next 10 years, surviving on their own and raising Tretij till he's almost fully an adult.
One day in 1994 Ocelot appears out of nowhere and murders Volgin and Raikov, leaving Tretij to be without his adoptive parents.
This causes Tretij to eventually turn into Psycho Mantis and live out his part in mgs1
