the gimmick blogs are like tumblr’s rogue gallery. yes we’ve got some heroes, yes we’ve got some villains, but more importantly if you look over here you will see some freak who devotes all their time to counting the number of “t’s” in a post

T Count: 15

Letter Count: 198

Your T Percentage: 7.58%

Average T Percentage: 6.95%

five pebbles really is the character of all time huh

he’s an incredibly vast biomechanical god, he’s a like 2ft tall muppet, his associated colour is cyan but he’s bright pink, he’s a video game level, he’s just a little guy, a little birthday boy, he loves his family, he hasn’t talked to any of them in a very long time, he has terminal brain cancer, it looks like blue spaghetti, he loves his sister, he killed his sister, he’s That person on discord, he’s a history nerd, he’s stuck in a box that is also himself, he’s incomprehensibly intelligent, he’s a total dumbass, he talks to small animals, he can fry your brain instantly, he’s suicidal, he doesn’t want to die, he’s so very, very big, but so very very small, he’s a thematic demonstation of a colossal, uncaring world, he’s just another victim of that world in the end

You know, I really respect this author, they said "You know Yokohama Kaidashi Kikō, and how beautiful it was to see robots living alongside people, discovering the joy in the ruins of a destroyed world, as human kindness continues to burn even after the end of humanity? Well..."

"... What if there was horrifying body horror and I must scream scenarios for the humans and the robots had depression?"

People don't like to admit it bcs cringe or w/e but Homestuck really did revolutionize the webcomic as a storytelling medium and I am endlessly frustrated that before webcomic artists could really stretch our legs fucking webtoonz swooped in, set a new, more restrictive standard, and then monetized and monopolized the ever living fuck out of the concept of The Webcomic until it drove away anyone who couldn't be a professional quality manga artist for free, and now the only webcomics that actually feel like spiritual successors to Homestuck are so obscure they're basically cult classics that you have to beg people to read.

Like it's just so wild to be in high school and see Homestuck be like "we're using like fifteen different artistic mediums to tell this story bcs we can" and be really fucking inspired by that, only to grow up and see basically every webcomic ever have to conform to One Single Standard or fucking perish.

Actually, I realized my real point here: we all need to make our art weirder. Please make weird art. I want more stuff like Prequel Adventure and 17776 and MyHouse.wad and I want it now. Capitalism thrives on conformity. We must be weird at all costs.

if you’re like. 14 and trans on tumblr rn and getting ur first anon hate from terfs. word of advice. stop responding to that shit. theyre only gonna send more, it’s only gonna make you spiral even if you put on a strong face. report + block messages as soon as they come in, don’t let them sit in your inbox it’s gonna make you feel like shit. turn off anon for a few days, block anyone suspicious in your notes liberally for a little while. repeat as needed. don’t give them the time of day. it sucks, but like. i dont know any trans person on the internet with any following who hasn’t gotten some disgusting messages. just. be safe yknow

so many young teens feel the need to have a snappy comeback, to explain you could never be cishet bc you’re actually t4t!! or whatever but like. just. don’t say any of that. they love that shit, they eat it up. do what u can to bore them into stopping. and sometimes they dont stop, and that sucks too but like. you do not want to get in public arguments with people who can hurt you more than you think they can, its not cowardly to delete discourse posts and shit if you feel like you can’t handle the notifications anymore. like just. you may not be able to completly prevent this stuff but take a few steps if you can, it will at least lower your chances

Some internet language things I really like:

  • Phrases like “that’s certainly a thing”, “it’s so shaped”, or “one of the most animals” (is there a name for this?)
  • when people write with little to no punctuation like they are just so done
  • More specifically, asking questions without punctuation i.e. ‘what’ or ‘why’. It’s like, you want to know but also you are resigned to the answer?
  • When people capitalise The Thing for emphasis - particularly if they add a trademark symbol to really drive The Point™ home
  • How we use both bold and italic text for emphasis, but they convey it in different ways and I can’t quite explain how
  • Responding to things exclusively with punctuation, because sometimes words fail you and all you can say is !!!

My interpretation

Me and a friend have been developing this conlang thing for use in co-op play, both for immersion and so we don’t need to constantly pause to type things. I call it slugsign :-)

I should note that neither of us know ANYTHING about language structure or conlanging, we just developed it naturally lol.

some grammar notes:

-’punctuation’ style signs (such as ‘question’, ’attention’, ’relax’) come before the rest of the sentence. this is for clarity of intent

-’relax’ can be used to initiate longer, more complex conversations

-signs are VERY position specific. the limitations of the medium make a lot of signs look similar, so using the right starting and ending positions are important.

-’region’ specifies which region you’re referring to by the direction of your arm waggling, and the regions adjecent to the one you’re currently in. For example if you were in industrial complex and wanted to refer to chimney canopy, you’d waggle upwards.

hi hi im the friend. just gonna tack on some smaller details that aren’t in the legend cause I think it’s fun –

jumping up and down isn’t necessarily a sign but we use it to convey intense joy about something: [yippee!]

the “kill” sign is written as a sweeping motion in the legend, but we found that it can be difficult to fit the entire sign in 1 jump (too fast) so it can be simplified into 2 separate jumps, 1 holding start and 1 holding end.

“later/bugs” is like that because the sign itself kind of looks like both a ticking motion, and, if fast enough, the skittering of a centipede. This is our only pun.

“scav/toll” is very very loose- depending on region and context it can really refer to any animal you ride on or use for transport. (jetfish in shoreline) the sign mimics antlers so it’s most closely associated with scavs and deer.

“cycle” can be used to refer to the general concept of “karma” – one example being [later][cycle][shelter] to say “we need to karma grind”

…theres A LOT of context-dependent interpretations for each sign. They all kind of have to have multiple uses and definitions because of how few signals we can make with the tools provided. also, even between the 2 of us we noticed we signed the exact same words in slightly different ways.
