Am I in the minority? I adored Wayward Son.
Of course I want puppies and rainbows for Baz and Simon (okay, maybe not puppies—Baz would just eat them). But 1) it’s a new relationship and 2) they’d both just suffered insanely traumatic experiences. Simon reacted just about the way I’d expected. Not only did he lose a huge part of himself (his identity as “the Chosen One” AND his magic) but he also killed his surrogate father (who was actually his real father, go figure). Simon feels unworthy of pretty much everything—which includes Baz.
So the road is rocky. But I trust Rainbow. She loves Simon and Baz. The ending of the book gives me so much hope, I can’t wait to see what happens next.
