It's Itchio's Creator Day! Which means if you buy any of my very reasonably priced games today, all that money ends up with me! Fancy that.

Wanna be a witch? A faerie? A traveler? Wanna fight god? I've got you covered.

I offer solo games, games for two players, games for multiple players, games with options for how many players you want there to be, and even one game that I don't think you can play at all, really.

oh, and an artbook of a haunted old west story. They're not on sale, bc frankly they're pretty cheap already. You can get some of them for $3, if you wanna.

Happy Halloween, everyone.

I played a game so good it made me spontaneously write a novella.

You can read the first half of it on Patreon now, with the second half soon to follow. The game is by Meghan Cross, but it isn't out yet or I WOULD be yelling and pointing at the Itchio link to it right here. Til it is released, just picture me doing that, please.

what is your concern with the bots exactly? like i don’t understand what is actually wrong with them.

If they were just passively following, they'd just be a minor annoyance - inflating my follower-number and making it much harder for me to know for certain how big of an audience reach I have here (which is relevant for me to know bc I am a professional working artist - social media, even Tumblr, matters for my work life). But bots following you is usually only the first step. Once they've followed, the pattern is to start replying/messaging people who interact with my post, spreading whatever garbage it is they're spreading. Meaning, my blog becomes a node in the spread of their bot-nonsense. Suspect off-site links, spam messages, etc. So it's not just in my interest to report+block bots and potential bots - it's in everyone else's interests, too. Idk about you, but I don't super enjoy having my DM inbox filled with dozens of porn bot messages.

jsyk, as of recently, new users aren't allowed to change their icon or edit their profile until they follow a few people :( so now there is no way to determine what is a bot or a genuine new user

I am aware of this, yes. I'm sure some of the empty blog followers I have gotten are genuine accounts that just get caught up in my you-seem-like-a-bot paranoia. But considering the landscape of the modern internet and Tumblr in particular, my paranoia is justified. And rather than allow my follower-count to balloon with possible bots (and quite a LOT of the followers I've gotten lately have been ones using legitimate-seeming usernames, but their avatar+bio are obviously stolen Instagram photos and copy-pasta filled porn bot nonsense), I'd rather shoot first, y'know? Also: I don't check this website 24/7, which means there's often plenty of time between someone creating a new account+following me, and me manually checking their blog to see who they are - which gives people time to add an avatar and a blog-description if they want to. Either way, this issue is really on Tumblr staff to solve, and not me.

There's a new swarm of totally real ladies with empty blogs following me, and I'm blocking and reporting them left and right. If you are an actual human person with a brand new account trying to follow me, I urge you to please post *anything at all* on your blog so that when I go to check who the heck you are, I can tell you aren't just a bot-encrusted void. Just a simple "hello this is my lurker account I use to follow people" is enough.

*taps sign* I am once again being haunted by ladies of questionable reality, as well as a lot of blank blogs without a custom avatar. If you are a recent arrival from the ex-parrot site with a brand new tumblr blog, I am asking you to please post ANYTHING at all on your blog, even if you're only going to lurk passively to follow people. Otherwise, you look just like the dozens of bots I've blocked this week.

The US Copyright Office is opening a public comment period around AI

American friends! The US Copyright Office (which we know exerts huuuge influence in how these things are treated elsewhere) wants to hear opinions on copyright and AI.

"The US Copyright Office is opening a public comment period around AI and copyright issues beginning August 30th as the agency figures out how to approach the subject."

We can assume that the opposing side will definitely be using all of their lobbying power towards widespread AI use, so this is a very good chance to let them know your thoughts on AI and how art and creative content of all kinds should be protected.

If you like what I make and would like to enable my shenanigans, now's the day to buy my games!

You are a god of small things, risen from the dust in which you were born. In your little corner of divinity, you have grown deep roots and flourished. Little prayers have been answered, unremarkable things have been made miracle. Through trial and tribulation, you have climbed out of obscurity. Your name, once whispered by only a few, is now spoken by many.

You have reached a crossroads in your winding path to divinity. On the cusp between past and future, with the prospect of greater godhood before you, it is time to reflect on what brought you here - and where your next step will lead you.

Liturgy of a Lesser God is a solo journaling game about a small god, and the lesser things over which they hold sway. It is played with a six-sided die and a deck of regular playing cards with the jokers included - and something with which to document your playthrough. The game is going to be $5 for the next two weeks, after which I'm raising the price!

Get it early if you want it cheap - or subscribe on Patreon for the same amount per month to get your hands on it and every other game I've made.

I'll be raising the price on this tomorrow, so if you want it for $5, today is the last day to do it!

Social Media stuff

Twitter seems to be going through the forum-admin-meltdown stage of its life cycle at the moment, with absurd TOS changes and threatening to ban people posting links to other websites - because that's a reasonable thing to do on the internet, which consists mostly of URLs pointing at other URLs. Tumblr is not yet on the bannable list, which is good - but a lot of other stuff IS. So in the event that you've followed me here from Twitter, and you're wondering where ELSE I am on this godforsaken web of sites, here is a handy list! Patreon Where I post most of my WIPs, sketches, sneak peeks at future projects and some exclusive stuff made just for the people who make sure to keep my lights on. I appreciate any and all pennies you can spare in this economy, but hitting the subscribe-button will get you emails about my public posts. Mastodon More like Twitter in size and manner, but a lot less algorithm-rotted. The .art instance I'm on currently has a bit of a digital fence up against .social, the biggest and least moderated instance - but you should be able to put in a follow-request regardless. Itchio Did you know I make tabletop rpgs? well I make tabletop rpgs, and you can buy them if you want. You can also get some of them for free! Itchio has implemented a blogpost/newsletter style function recently - I'll likely use it to share updates on ttrpg projects Artstation My portfolio-site until further notice. Fingers crossed they will eventually come to their senses and take a more hardline stance against AI art. Cohost It's a bit like this place? Only different. I haven't posted much yet, because I only have so many spoons, but follow me there for my hot takes on straw goat-burning and occasional bits of art I guess. Pillowfort Another one I have yet to post much on, but I will get it up and running eventually, I suppose.

Twitter is circling ever closer to the drain, so this is your reminder that I can also be found elsewhere.

Most of the above links are relevant - although both Cohost and Pillowfort are very much placeholders for now. I've got the accounts, but I don't really post there. Your best bets for keeping up with what I do is this place, Mastodon, and my Bluesky account:

If you prefer direct links, here's a handy one. I post all new art here, on Mastodon and on Bluesky, but Patreon gets the sneak peeks at stuff I'm working on before everyone else, and it's also a handy way to ensure that I, y'know, keep making stuff at all. The 2020-2023 stretch of human existance has been really damned hard for freelance artists, and ANY support is highly appreciated - especially when one of the largest social networks on the internet keeps crumbling like a rancid cookie. So thank you for being here with me. Please follow the arrows towards the emergency exits if you, like me, still open Twitter on occasion.
