Batumi Aquarium concept art.

Batumi, on the Georgian coast of the Black Sea, currently has a tiny, extremely outdated aquarium right next door to their dolphinarium (new in 2011).

It’s simply one room with tanks along the walls, and one tank in the middle with large fish like sturgeons. I have seen better setups in pet stores.

They are however working on a new aquarium for the city, which will be right opposite to the dolphinarium and the current aquarium, and as you can see, a very outlandish and modern structure inspired by the pebbles on the beaches (they have stone beaches, not sand).

What I’m most intrigued by, but what might just be something the artist did, rather than something the city is actually planning, are the whale sharks in the concept art. The buildings look too small to fit a tank that size, so I doubt it, but I’m intrigued.
