Life Has A Hopeful Undertone

I know I don’t usually talk politics because of all the discourse, but I need to talk about Hong Kong.

I’m sure you all know what’s going on, if you’re reading this. The extradition bill is really going to screw us over. It’s going to take our rights. Although it’s been stated that it’s to prevent mainland fugitives from absconding in HK, it’s going to let us lose our freedom for our own political system.

I won’t expand further, because it’s easy to research this—hell, I only found out this was going on because of a Facebook post my mom showed me. But this bill is serious business, and it definitely affects me, even though I’m not in Hong Kong.

I’ve lived in Hong Kong for almost my whole life—I was born there, and lived there for twelve years. Hell, I was there last month. I’m a Hong Hong permanent resident, and I have an ID card to prove it.

Next year, I’ll be going back. I was planning on applying for my naturalisation, and switch from an Indian passport to a Hong Kong one, but if this bill is passed, that’s going to become a whole lot harder for me, as an Indian national.

In addition to that, my brother and father both have Hong Kong passports, but I can’t be sure that’ll even help them at this point.

I myself don’t have any links that I can provide in case anyone sees this and is willing to support us, but other tumblr posts will. Please, please, help stop the extradition bill. I’m one of thousands of people who wipl be affected, but every voice, every word, every vote matters. A feather can tip the scales.

The people who are there, supporting us in the streets, have all my thankfulness for being there and doing their best. They’re fighting for our freedom, and though they’re being dismissed as a riot, they’re doing their best. They’re fighting tear gas, rubber bullets, pepper spray, outright violence, and possibly even prosecution, but they’re staying strong. If you’re one of them, you have my greatest appreciation and my most heartfelt thanks. Thank you so much.

And even if you can’t protest on your own, for whatever reason, but you’re making an effort to spread awareness or sign a petition, or you’re doing whatever you can, thank you.

Please, help Hong Kong.

Kissing - and I mean like, yummy, smacking kissing - is the most delicious, most beautiful and passionate thing that two people can do, bar none. Better than sex, hands down. #drewbarrymore #drawing #drawingaday #lovequoteaday #love #quoteaday #quote #art #contemporaryart #words Drawing 143. http://bit.ly/2WjzwyN

Made this my new phone background. I’ve been saying “when it rains, it pours” a lot lately - just never ending combinations of unfortunate events but this is a very welcome change of perspective.

what she says: avatar is one of my favorite shows.
what she means: avatar: the last airbender is one of the best shows i have ever seen. words cannot describe how much this show means to me. every single one of the characters were diverse, three-dimensional, and well-written, with arcs and character development that were all beautifully orchestrated. the characters were all so human, with flaws, and ambitions, and compelling back stories and motivations. it even shows how the antagonists weren't evil and heartless monsters, but how they were just as human as the heroes. the stories the show itself followed were just as beautiful, mixing humor and playfulness with important, hard-hitting life lessons that have shaped me as a person. the show stressed the importance of friendships and familial bonds, and how everyone is not only deserving of redemption, but can achieve it. it showed the strength in kindness and humility and forgiveness, and how you aren't defined by your past. it showed that just because you're related by blood to someone doesn't mean they're your family, and how friends can be your family too. the show even depicted how animals can be like family. it showed how unhealthy relationships and abuse work, and it showed how you can move and work past those things. it taught how to deal with grief and pain, and how those things can help you grow as a person. it showed that even if everyone is telling you something is right, it doesn't mean it is, and that you should stand up for what's truly right. the visuals were absolutely stunning, and the soundtrack is the best soundtrack of any show or movie i've ever heard. the stories and the characters of this show have resonated with me deeply, and are still affecting me today. to me, nothing will ever compare to avatar: the last airbender.

PLEASE HELP

I never thought I’d make a post like this, but here I am.

My friend Kelly is 16 and has 2 years to live.

Kelly is an inspiring, artistic, clever and beautiful girl.

She has been diagnosed with Desmoplastic small round cell tumor (DSRCT) in October 2015. It’s a rare, aggressive cancer that usually begins in the abdomen. It’s so rare that only 20 adolescents in USA are diagnosed with it a year.

Our friend Kelly has been through 9 rounds of chemotherapy but the tumors are close to her liver. The operation is not possible in UK.

THERE IS HOPE.

There is hope in  The University College Hospital @ London, The MSK @ New York and possibly Christies @ Manchester.

The surgery in USA is not covered by insurance and so we have to found it. We need you to help.  We need £1million for this to happen. We have 80 days.  We need help.

you know i try to keep this blog on-topic, but signal boost! this article was from june 2016 so this is still ongoing. please support if you can and reblog if you can’t!

Felt the need to signal boost this again. According to this update, the hospital has taken scans and confirmed that they can and will do the surgery, but the family is only at about 10% of their goal. Please give if you can, and share Kelly’s story if you can’t. I can’t imagine what it feels like to know something could save your life but also knowing that you can’t afford it. No one deserves to go through suffering like this. Let’s do what we can to see that Kelly won’t have to, either.

Guys, a reblog can make the difference.
