i write things on ao3 and occasionally post them here

prompt: parting words regret

title: to walk into the valley of the shadow of death

fandom: Game of Thrones (TV)

relationships: Meera Reed/Bran Stark, Meera Reed & Bran Stark

warnings: explicit language

summary: “You were there the whole time,” Meera says. “I know you know what I went through. What we all went through. For you. It was all for you, Bran.”

He’s quiet, but not in the way he used to be. It’s funny, she thinks, that out of all of them- Jojen, Hodor and Osha, Rickon, even the wolves- it’s the two of them that survived. It’s funny because she was prepared to die for Bran Stark, and she’s the only one who didn’t.

Ineffable Husbands really is that ship that has it all. They’re married. They’re divorced. They’ve never been together at all. They’ve been pining for 6000 years. They’re gay except they’re also not at all. They’re technically enemies to lovers but they’ve never been enemies nor lovers. Name any fanfic trope, they’ve probably been there, done that and they were entirely oblivious about it. Incredible ship.

Every 21st century piece of writing advice: Make us CARE about the character from page 1! Make us empathize with them! Make them interesting and different but still relatable and likable!

Every piece of classic literature: Hi. It's me. The bland everyman whose only purpose is to tell you this story. I have no actual personality. Here's the story of the time I encountered the worst people I ever met in my life. But first, ten pages of description about the place in which I met them.

Modern writing advice: Yes your protagonist should have flaws but ultimately we should root for them and like them from the beginning :)

Charles Dickens: Here is the worst ugliest rudest meanest nastiest bitch you’ve ever met in your life.

Modern writing advice: Make sure your POV character goes through a significant arc! Make sure they are changed by the narrative! Make sure they learn a lesson!

Narrators of every book of the 19th century: the lesson I learned is these people fucking suck, sayonara you freaks

Modern writing advice: It’s all about the character overcoming obstacles and learning! They learn their lesson so they can fix their mistakes and make good choices in the future! It’s a character arc! It’s called growth! Readers love it!

Everyone from ancient times through the 19th century: would you like to watch a Guy fuck up twenty times in a row

first bad things happen bingo square!!

prompt: hysterical strength

title: legacy

fandom: Scream (Movies)

relationships: Dewey Riley/Gale Weathers, Sidney Prescott & Dewey Riley & Gale Weathers

warnings: canon-typical & non-graphic depictions of violence, explicit language

summary: Because goddamnit, Gale thinks, they’ve been through too much shit for any of them to die now. So she shoots once, twice, three times. She’s pretty sure she misses all three shots but that doesn’t matter because this year’s Ghostface is gone and Dewey is groaning and attempting to roll over and the only thing that matters is that he’s alive.

fanfic is so good bc the premise of some genres of fic are just inherently funny. I want these two grizzled crime drama protagonists to have some fucking fun for once, so they go to a water park. I dont care how i have to logic my way into them going there i dont care who has to drag them Theyre Going

but also the exact opposite. put these two sitcom lighthearted romcom protagonists in the middle of a cannibalistic serial killer rampage. i want them to suffer. no more episodic skipping around consequences. Spongebob must face God.

if i see a single one of you pissed that your faves canceled an event or a con appearance because they're striking for fair wages then imma come for you in your sleep 🔪🔪🔪

(direct that fury where it belongs: AMPTP and the execs)

Robin Buckley is one of the greatest characters of all time. She is a lesbian. She speaks four languages. She's in band. Her parents are hippies. She's neurodivergent. She translated and cracked a super-secret Russian code in a day. She talks a lot. She fucked up Prom once. The most popular guy at school confessed to her and then became her bestie when she rejected him and he drives her to school every day even though he graduated already because she doesn't have a driving license (she's poor). She is a weird runner. She figured out music could help against Vecna and saved Max. She's clumsy. She gives great dating advice. She sucks at flirting though. She's funny. She's super smart. She's a dumbass. She's a loser. She's great. Character of all time.
