If I have one criticism of the film adaptation of Nimona, it's that I completely understand the point Nate Stevenson was making in his remarks about not wanting to make Ballister too proactive in order to discourage the audience from focusing on him and sidelining Nimona in her own movie, but a. the film overcorrects so severely and makes Ballister such a wet noodle compared to his comic book counterpart that it ends up weakening Nimona's own character arc by depriving her of an effective foil to bounce off of, and b. like half the Nimona (2023) fics on AO3 are Ballister/Goldenloin shipping pieces in which Nimona herself does not appear, so it didn't even work.

I love this new trend of movies not being 'subtle' anymore and people complaining about it.

"The Barbie movie message was so overt and in my face. I didn't like it! They weren't even trying to hide the real transperson rights allegory in Nimona!"

This man has one of the best character designs I’ve ever seen. He’s designed like a stereotypical villain with his sharp features, dark armor, and the scar across his eye…but in actuality he’s goofy and sad.
