@transgenderlation-state The illusion actually doesn’t have anything to do with the arrows! There’s a very thin band of different colors around the inner and outer edge of each disk. By altering the position and order of those colors, they can fool your eye into thinking it’s seeing the afterimage of a circle, moving in whatever direction they like.

In the future, children will think our ways are strange. "Why do old people always grow so much milkweed in their gardens?" they'll say. "Why do old people always write down when the first bees and butterflies show up? Why do old people hate lawn grass so much? Why do old people like to sit outside and watch bees?"

We will try to explain to them that when we were young, most people's yards were almost entirely short grass with barely any flowers at all, and it was so commonplace to spray poisons to kill insects and weeds that it was feared monarch butterflies and American bumblebees would soon go extinct. We will show them pictures of sidewalks, shops, and houses surrounded by empty grass without any flowers or vegetables and they will stare at them like we stared at pictures of grimy children working in coal mines

We will be feeding our grandchildren strawberries and raspberries we grew in our gardens, dragging them along to the farmers' markets for tomatoes and eggs and goats milk and pickles and pecans and salsa and sunflower seed butter and jars of honey, as they complain and drag their feet because Gramma always stands around talking to people for like an HOUR

and we will say "When I was YOUR age, fruits and vegetables came from a supermarket and they were bred to get shipped 1000 miles in a truck and sit on shelves for weeks, and they tasted so sour and watery it was like eating paper compared to these ones. It wasn't even legal in some places to grow your own food"

and they will roll their eyes like yeah yeah just because everything was miserable in the 20s doesn't mean I have to have a smile on my face standing in the hot sun while you listen to that one guy talk about his bees FOREVER

But they will go, because there might be baby goats.

fucking constant reboot remake reboot remake reboot remake reboot remake!!!!!!!!!! the tv has only been around for like a century you literally cannot be out of ideas already

This is an open secret at this point, everybody who works in the entertainment industry can tell you the execs literally, outright say they do not want original properties anymore. With a new property you have to spend the time and money getting people invested. If you make the 34785th remake and staple some nostalgia on it for good measure, you'll make bank because there's already a dedicated group of people to market to. People will watch it if it's good, because it's a revival of something they care about. People will REALLY watch it if it's bad, because hatewatching is almost even more profitable in this day and age. It's all about getting the biggest return for the smallest financial investment, and nostalgia is MUCH more profitable than original projects. It's all corporate bullshit in the end.

So anyway, please support the originals who make it in spite of everything, and please especially support independent creators and projects!

Let's also not forget the intersex kids who are forced into surgeries and hormones with no ability to consent.

Trans and intersex bodily autonomy NOW.

This. There are many intersex children who go thru puberty early, and most of the time intervention is chosen for us, not by us. Cis intersex children deserve autonomy too.

so my apartment building got a notice board to post fire alarm tests and maintenance announcements and such. the building is pretty well-maintained, so we rarely get notices. the board is big and grey and to think it would be empty like that 99% of the time was a bland boring sin i just couldn't bear, so i vandalized the corner of its empty canvas with a teeny tiny Guy

and within a few days, there was a sudden addition from my one of my neighbors along with a Bunch of thumbtacks. this was an unexpected, but welcome surprise!

well there was still so much space, i figured i'd add another crumb to the art hoard. i'd been playing genshin that day so i drew my favorite grandpa

and like clockwork, new art manifested!! this person is gonna grow to be a great artist i know it. the detail in those stones? hell yeah that's cool.

we're two weeks into it. more neighbors have joined in with their artwork. who knew there were so many artists in my building?? we're onto somethin great here i just know it.

update: ONE OF MY NEIGHBORS DREW VENTI TO GO WITH MY GENSHIN GRANDPA I'M —

WHO DID THIS

i am retaliating i NEED to know who did this

JOJO HAS ENTERED THE CHAT

This is what 'living in a community' is supposed to mean

We’re winning.

I found his bio on societyofpresidentialdescendants.org and it was so delightful I had to copy paste the whole thing:

“Ulysses Grant Dietz grew up in Syracuse, New York, where his Leave it to Beaver life was enlivened by his fascination with vampires, from Bela Lugosi to Barnabas Collins. He studied French at Yale (BA, 1977), and was trained to be a museum curator in the University of Delaware’s Winterthur Program in American Material Culture (MA, 1980). A decorative arts curator at the Newark Museum for thirty-seven years before he retired, Ulysses has never stopped writing for the sheer pleasure of it. Aside from books on Victorian furniture, art pottery, studio ceramics, jewelry, and the White House, Ulysses created the character of Desmond Beckwith in 1988 as his personal response to Anne Rice’s landmark novels. Alyson Books released his first novel, Desmond, in 1998. Vampire in Suburbia, the sequel, appeared in 2012. His most recent novel, Cliffhanger, was released by JMS Books in December 2020.

“Ulysses lives in suburban New Jersey with his husband of 45 years. They have two grown children, adopted in 1996.

“Ulysses is a great-great grandson of Ulysses S. Grant. His late mother, Julia, was the President’s last living great-grandchild; youngest daughter of Ulysses S. Grant III, and granddaughter of the president’s eldest son, Frederick. Every year on April 27 he gives a speech at Grant’s Tomb in New York City. He is also on the board of the U.S. Grant Presidential Library and Museum at Mississippi State University.”

And frankly, the novels sound like they slap:

Desmond was nominated for a Lambda Award.

“With his husband of 45 years.” You kids don’t know ... they got together before AIDS, at the peak of the Gay Glam Life. They stayed together as their generation died around them, and made through it to the point where they could marry and have a legal family. He looks like a chipper preppie who never had a serious thought or care in the world, but it took *incredible* determination, commitment, and also luck to get here.

I managed not to catch covid when my girlfriend got it by isolating her, masking, and air filtration. They are straight up lying to us. They are trying to keep us ignorant. What you were doing in 2021 is what you should still be doing today.

1. A Fortune article pushing the advice of unscientific covid minimizers who have never practiced covid medicine is not science.

2. From the CDC site

https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/prevent-getting-sick/types-of-masks.html#masks

Catching covid while masked is almost always down to human error: The mask was not quality, the mask was not worn properly, or the mask was never fit tested. There are thousands of ER and Covid wing nurses who have always worn proper PPE and never caught covid working with Covid-positive patients. There have been multiple international studies done on this (some are linked under my mask up and covid hashtags.)

3. Enough anecdotes equates to science, and hundreds of thousands have shared their success with covid isolation since 2020. There have been studes done on this.

4. Can we talk about how bald-faced hypocritical it is to warn about the dangers of anecdotal evidence and then provide an anecdote as some form of support for that statement?

do you all remember in the early 2010s where people were talking about freeing the nipple and that mixed-gender sports should become a thing and the removal of period tax and all of that and then some people realised that would mean trans people too ans they instantly decided to revert to bioessentialism 101 and now i have to see grating sentences like Well maybe jeopardy should be gender-segregated because males have a biological advantage in pressing a button

Disney is going to stop selling DVDs and Blu-rays in Australia and to think of what this means for accessibility, residuals, quality, public libraries here etc and the precedent this will set for other studios and distributors around the world oh it's never been more over

...Not. Good.

Cool. Okay Disney, cool. Let the nation founded on criminal transportation continue the legacy of their founding population and just PIRATE THE SHIT out of everything.

(And they WILL DO IT without batting an eye. Cuz Aussies don’t give a shit about legality if you deny them the means to do ANYTHING above board)
