THE LORD OF THE RINGS costumes appreciation: ― Celeborn’s robes (costume design by Ngila Dickson and Richard Taylor)
Portrait of a Lady on Fire (2019) dir. Céline Sciamma
i was very excited during class when i suddenly realized this comic translates beautifully into chinese
the explanation here being:
allo? - hello? a l'eau - water?
谁呀?- shei ya? who is it? 水呀?- shui ya? water?
It’s even funnier if you know that in french that type of showerhead is called a “Telephone shower”. ^_^
After I reblogged this I realised that it works in te reo Māori too.
Ko wai tēnei = Who is this but also This is water
Please add to this, I want it to turn out that this works for every language on earth except English.
Thank you for the further input on A.L's potential library (I am a little obsessed with him) I gotta admit A.L and Maurice Leblanc got me interested in reading more French lit and gentleman thief literature in general (what a guy), so Guy de Maupassant, Gustave Flaubert, and Leslie Charteris are next on my list ehehe. I tried a bit of Dumas but I got lost in some of the descriptions otL
Guy de Maupassant is an absolute favourite of mine!! His short stories are masterpieces of cynism and cruelty, a great study of human nature as well. Him and Flaubert are definitely authors Leblanc tried to emulate, he was a big fan of their works (normans writers gang rise up eeeyyy). I've also been meaning to get into Charteris and his S.T. character, but as far as british thieves go, I fear Raffles will always be the only one for me x)
