Book Thoughts

It may have been a while if ever that I have posted anything here, but I guess I just felt like putting my thoughts down about the new book I'm reading. It doesn't really matter to me if anyone reads this, I just wanted to be able to have a place for my thoughts as I am reading this book. So here goes, my thoughts will be mixed with quotes and thoughts chapter by chapter. Let me introduce the book before getting too carried away.

First a story, I found this book at a second hand bookstore in Oregon while on vacation with my dad, originally the title struck me first but then seeing it was about myths and stories of Wild Women I had to get it being a lover of myths, fairytales, and stories in general. The book called Women Who Run With the Wolves: Myths and Stories of the Wild Woman Archetype would be classified I suppose as maybe self-help? Maybe a bit of non-fiction, but also elements of research and analysis, so it doesn't really fit into any genre. Which is kind of perfect considering it's entire premise is on detailing how stories and myths depict the Wild Women Archetype which by definition defies definciiton (wow good alliteration there and completely not intended). Now back to the book, it is written by a woman with a doctorate so we know it will be well researched and well written and it is. The amount of markers, underlining, and comments in the margins is becoming astronomical, hence these posts to help me organize and voice my thoughts.

For any curious here is the cover of my edition as well as the blurb from the publisher.

Blurb From Publisher

In Women Who Run with the Wolves, Dr. Clarissa Pinkola Estés unfolds rich intercultural myths, fairy tales, folk tales, and stories, many from her own traditions, in order to help women reconnect with the fierce, healthy, visionary attributes of this instinctual nature. Through the stories and commentaries in this remarkable book, we retrieve, examine, love, and understand the Wild Woman, and hold her against our deep psyches as one who is both magic and medicine.

Well there it is, there's the start of these posts, I'll try to update often with my thoughts as I read through it and I guess enjoy and join me if you'd like. Thanks for listening.

Happy Dating A Sensitive Reader Would Include:

i think this idea is cute because the whole opposites attract kinda love :)
  • Happy always having to be careful whenever he’s talking to you since he is very intimidating and his voice is so rough
  • The one time he raised his voice and felt awful when he made you cry
  • Him always having to comfort you
  • Whether it was a bad or not he would drop everything and hold you
  • One time he refused because you guys were with the club
  • He didn’t mean to be so rude about it and instantly regretted it when you gave him the silent treatment
  • He would try his best to apologize and to touch you but you wouldn’t have it
  • Eventually giving in and him being so relieved
  • Seeing how you get scared easily
  • Mostly whenever it came to horror movies and bugs
  • He used think it was funny but now he was grasping the real fear you had with these things
  • While you were more soft it also meant you were sensitive in the bedroom too
  • He remembered the first time being with you he was surprised
  • Especially when he was jumping right into it and heard your plead to slow down
  • He felt himself getting angry with how he was treating you
  • You reassured him and begged him to be patient with you when you let him continue
  • You trying your best to stay quiet when he was only touching you
  • Happy loving how responsive you were under him
  • Easily he dominated you and would test the waters on certain things
  • Him seeing you enjoying little things especially getting excited when he saw you liked having his hand on your throat
  • Happy giving you overwhelming pleasure
  • He looked closely under him to see you moaning and begging for him
  • Your eyes welling with tears as he made you come multiple times
  • Happy giving sweet aftercare as he noticed the bruises he left on you
  • You wore them like little rewards
  • One day him being really slow and gentle with you after you said “I love you” for the first time
  • He appreciated the confession and returned the favor
  • Him being teased by the club constantly because now the “Tacoma Killer” had gone all soft for you
