Doll Inventory Part 13: My Main Doll Box
Well thanks to the Current Pandemic Going on, now finally being able stay home from work fully, and not having much else to do, I was finally able to Finish Doll Inventory on My Main Doll Box. I’ve gotten way more dolls since I last did doll inventory, so I’m glad I was able to finish inventory before it my collection got bigger, especially with my main doll box, since it can’t do to not having any more space in there anymore.
- 1st row Left side is 1987 Fun to Dress Barbie, who I actually got new in box at a local thrift store for about $6 last November like a week after I last did doll inventory.
- 1st row Right side is 1988 Style Magic Barbie, with her hair combed out and flattened a little, who’s a big Fave of mine.
- 3rd row Left side is Giggles ‘n Swing Barbie from 1998, with her hair cut and restyled as of today (her head was looking a little misshapen so I figured while fixing that I might as well work on her hair). She No longer Works, but hat might be for the better I guess, as she came with a kelly doll to push on a swing and they had barbie make the giggling sounds for kelly instead of making an electronic kelly and it’s creepy.
- 3rd row Right side is Working Woman Barbie from 1999 (dressed in a fashion avenue dress i’ve had since high school). Unlike Giggles ‘n Swing Barbie, Working Woman Barbie Actually Works. I gave her new batteries and her Voice still sounds really good and all her lines are cheesy and dated lol it’s great ( just wish there was an off button tho).
- 5th row Left side is 1998 Halloween party Ken. He did come with his pirate outfit (even his eyepatch which sadly fell apart). I eventually cut his hair shorter and I think it looks alright, need to style it a little more.
Baby Soo helps me welcome kindergarten 醒醒 and 困困
I ordered these a while ago as the sculptor had a few pieces leftover from the first pre-order. It was a delight to have them arrive in beautifully gift-wrapped little boxes. ^-^ Under the wrap were translucent plastic boxes similar to other independent sculptors’ packaging (e.g. ASAI and Mia).
Both head and face-plate came with tooth parts and were well-wrapped in drawstring bags. The 醒醒 (Xingxing) full head additionally came with an adorable COA styled as a graduation certificate! Translated, the certificate reads, “Congratulations on your graduation from Dandan’s (蛋蛋) kindergarten! This warm family will remember your happy childhood years. We hope you will continue to grow well. Wishing you continued good fortune and happiness! with love from kindergarten principal, signed 蛋蛋”, and there’s a space for the “parent” to sign below. XD
The head itself is on the small side for a 1/6-scale BJD - about the same size as Smile Soo, but with slightly more delicate features. The resin I chose is supposedly colour-matched to “2017 Mia normal pink”. It’s not very pink at all and is actually pretty close to Smile Soo, who is Mia’s 2019 new normal shade, but a bit paler (compare with Soo’s headcap on the right side of the photo below).
The head fits perfectly on the 1/8-scale Daisy BJD body which I had ordered for Soo with a custom neck size, but I also have a 2D Doll body on order for it. I chose 2D Doll mainly because they make the shortest 1/6-scale body that I know of, and I’ve also seen a Xingxing on a 2D Doll body who is super cute. I’ll have to wait for the 2D Doll body to arrive before I decide which head gets which body on a permanent basis. I have plans for the two of them, Soo and Xingxing/ Kunkun, to be the littlest ones in my crew, and kindergarten-mates~
It’s worth mentioning that the 2nd pre-order is currently open for these heads, with a newly-added light tan option, and optional colour-matched Guardlove 4th-gen bodies (a really nice-looking body, IMO!)

What started as a hunt for a superstar Hawaiian Barbie, turned into me wanting to make my own version. After sorting through the heads and hair I had on hand, I decided I liked this head enough with the brown hair to just reroot her. Completely forgetting about wanting Hawaiian Barbie lol.
I tinted the head with alcohol marker and rubbing alcohol to better match the tall MTM body. I think it came out pretty well! I'm really happy with her whole look and I'm glad that I switched directions with her.
Does anyone know what the head I used is? I had it identified when I got it... But that notebook is in storage heh...

This girl is such a sweetie??? I always liked the idea of the hairdorables, but ai never liked the sculpt of their faces becausenofnthebweird americanized chibified vibe. This little lady absolutely wonderful though and I adore her whole dolly line!
