Summary:

Sometimes you can feel it on your cheeks and under your fingertips; you can taste it in cold coffee and on her lips; you can see it in hues of blue and in the morning skies; you can hear it in teasing words and in the silence; you can smell it in jasmine and cinnamon and the earth itslef.

Sometimes you just can.

Ava is running late. Not that it’s a huge deal, her plans with Beatrice were casual and very last minute, but when Beatrice asks her to come over Ava takes every opportunity she can to be with her.

She had every intention of leaving the gym right away after her workout, but when one of the trainers told her they liked the way she helped someone with their technique, it turned into a whole conversation about Ava’s potential as a personal trainer.

Which was not at all on her bingo card for the future but they ended up talking for almost thirty minutes and Ava left the conversation thinking about how much fun it might be.

She’s grown to love the gym, so much so that she’s the one dragging Mary to it now. It’s become her safe haven, it gives her a place to burn off her energy and maintain her focus. From yoga to weights and cardio training, Ava goes five times a week.

With every intention of asking Bea if she wants to start working out with her.

Tonight though, Ava is sprinting up the steps of the dispensary towards Bea’s apartment, cheap protein shake in hand and carrying her gym bag with a change of clothes.

When she reaches the door, Ava lifts one arm and smells herself, frowning as the stench of her workout fills her senses. Beatrice knows where she was and she knows Ava’s a sweater - still it’s not ideal.

But she’s here and she wants to see her girlfriend so she knocks and tucks her arms tightly at her side.

As the door opens, Ava hears the sounds of Fleetwood Mac coming from Beatrice’s little portable speaker.

Cosmo is lying on the floor in his dog bed that’s about a size too small. His head lifts up and his tail wags a little, but he’s clearly half asleep and doesn’t get up.

The Ava novelty has worn off a little for him.

That’s when she takes in the sight of Bea, with her hair tied back in a loose ponytail and wearing a loose fitting button down with the sleeves rolled up and the top two buttons undone. She has a broom in her hand and a smile on her face.

“Hi,” Ava breathes, suddenly losing her voice a little.

Anonymous asked:

but what if they do recast the leads?

then they do? then you react to that at the time it's announced?

I just don't see the reason for immediate reactionary pessimism because people didn't get the exact outcome they wanted or the information they think they deserve even though there's a strike on preventing dissemination of said information

this is a production team I choose to put my trust in because unlike other circumstances (ex. being an active t100 fan during 2015/16 and the production team specifically going out of their way to invade fandom spaces and lie about character fates, going out of their way to spread misinformation and leak late season shooting that implied lexa lived, and on and on and on), the warrior nun team has gone out of their way to be open and transparent and engaged in a positive way with the fandom even after the show's cancellation

why am I optimistic about it?

because this is different than early 2016 when we were watching queer women die on screen quite literally once a week.

because the warrior nun team looked at the fandom backlash following cancellation and went "if you're going to keep fighting for it, we're going to keep fighting for it."

because what point is there in purposefully searching out negativity in what is categorically a win for this fandom. in december, this universe was dead. now it's not. if people can't find something to be happy about in that and instead jump right to "but movies, but actors, but but but"? that's not really the sort of person I want to be engaging with in my curated fandom spaces

Agree with all this, but as a sidenote, “then you react to it at the time it’s announced” might be the best advice I’ve ever seen on here (about life in general, really). I understand uncertainty creates anxiety, but I don’t understand the need to go over every negative scenario in advance. If the thing you fear happens, it happens. It’s quite stupid of you to fret about it in advance when there’s nothing you can do about it either way. You can respond to it when it gets here, why are we wasting time fretting about stuff we just don’t know yet, cannot know yet, and it’s quite unproductive to worry about it either way.

adventures in rome part 4

so in the morning of the second day we first took a guided tour by bus around the ancient monuments of the city (mostly)

we saw castel sant’ angelo (on the left) from afar, that has gardens around it shaped like a star and there’s a secret passage connecting it to the vatican through which various popes have escaped peril. its name is taken as “castle of the angels” but more correctly it’s “castle of st. angel”. close by is rome’s palace of justice, the seat of the supreme court of cassation

then we reached villa borghese (its entrance on the left), a giant public park with the building being an art museum. in the past all parks were villas bc they actually were; the most powerful families held villas with huge gardens, some of which still survive to this day. the city of rome managed to buy this park and maintain its nature in contrast to some of the other villas where their gardens were uprooted and built.

we drove through part of the park and eventually reached piazza della repubblica, where stands the fountain of the naiads (greek nymphs presiding over bodies of fresh water) and in the back santa maria degli angeli e dei martiri (st mary of the angels and the martyrs) a basilica built inside the ruined baths of diocletian following an original design by michelangelo

after that we also saw santa maria maggiore (st mary major), one of the first churches built to celebrate virgin mary after, in 431 ad, she was proclaimed mary mother of god by the council of ephesus. the church was built in that immediate aftermath. its ceiling internally is gilded with the first gold brought from peru, which queen isabella donated to the then pope. this was the biggest church before the construction of st peter’s basilica in the vatican

Turns out the British public has more positive views of lgbt people than the British media would suggest. Cis lesbians are tied with cis bisexual for expressing the most supportive views on trans people

Some encouraging news.

Really glad they did this research - especially because YouGov is a credible, well-regarded, and fairly accurate pollster. They're one of the most prominent polling organizations in the UK. So it's not like just anyone is giving these numbers - you can have a fair amount of confidence in them.

Given British media and assholes online, I definitely would not have called that cis lesbians and cis bisexuals are tied for most supportive of trans people. Very, very nice to hear.

transphobes are a very loud but very small group. don't lose hope. don't give up. don't stop fighting. more people support you than you realize.

photos that make you stop, google “billie piper gay”, and find on her wiki that she said in a 2006 interview with Gay Community News, “I fancy women big time… I check them out more than I check men out. Maybe I would want to sleep with a woman.”
