The Hunger Games had a rocky start with the first entry, a good-but-not great movie that didn’t fully understood the franchise, but then really came into its own with The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, a great film that truly understood what the franchise meant. The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1 continued this understanding, and was overall a well-made film, but it just doesn’t stand on its own as a good story. It needs Part 2 to truly shine- but if Part 1 is any indication, the two of them together might just make the best Hunger Games movie of them all.
