Atlas is strong. Atlas is safe. At least that is the message dedicated to the citizens of the last standing kingdoms of Remnant, that could pick up a fight against Salem and her Grimm. And it seems like that; at first. With the Lamp of Knowledge finally here, the Staff of Creation safely kept in the vault and the Crown of Choice so well hidden, that no one would ever find it. But still: Claire Arbit, protector of one of the last standing kingdoms in the fight against Salem, soon sees herself facing a net made out of betrayal, lies and corruption. And so one question still remains: If everything around you falls apart, tell me, how do you choose?

Boring people the second they see something a little creative, silly, experimental,or even just a little confussing: UHMM...⁉️ WHAT THE FUCK DID I JUST WATCH 😂 WHAT WERE THEY SMOKING 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣😂🤣😂😭🤣😂🤣😂🤣🤣😂🤣😂😭😭🤣😂😭😂

first it was girls' locker rooms vs boys' locker rooms then it was the feminine urge to vs the masculine urge to now it's girl dinner vs boy dinner when will it end when will we escape i feel like maybe some of you guys dont even want to escape doesnt anyone else want to escape

how do conservatives think talking to children works? if a four year old came up to me and said “i’m a cat!!” i would say “really? what makes you a cat?” and they’d say some shit like “i have claws >:)” and i’d be like “oh wow, you do have claws. but wait, i thought cats had pointed ears!” and they’d say “they DO!!!” and then i’d pull up a picture of an elf and ask “is THIS a cat?” and they’d yell “NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO”

u wouldn’t say “fucking hell, Emily, get it together. this is the real world”

I think something very scary that is happening for the newer generation is that the invisible audience no longer exists. They’re not invisible, they’re right there, in their pocket all the time, and that is so physiologically damaging.

“he he ho ho elder millennial thinks technology is evil and Edison was a witch”

fucking no but don’t you remember in middle school when you were like “I’m horrible and everyone hates me” but you literally never had any evidence to back that up so you eventually grew out of it? Now imagine you had a little light box that people from all over the world could tell you that actually yeah they did hate you , and they could do it anonymously. Why do you think teens today are so fucking obsessed with cringe? Why do you think you haven’t seen a gen z horse girl? Like the audience isn’t invisible anymore and the kids have to perform form the second their born.

ERASE the idea that America saved lives by dropping two atomic bombs on Japan from your minds. ERASE the idea that it was anything more than a political move to scare Russia and also to satiate US curiosity as to the true ability of nuclear weapons. Nagasaki and Hiroshima were not military bases. They were heavily populated civilian cities chosen precisely bc the U.S. wanted to see how many people an atomic bomb could kill in one go. Japan was on the verge of surrendering, the U.S. literally wanted to test out their nuclear weapons on people that they deemed disposable. That is it. If those bombs were dropped by any nation other than the US veryone involved would have been tried as war criminals.

Also erase the idea that America was the hero of WWII and got into the war because they wanted so save people. They couldn’t have cared less about the victims of the Holocaust, proven by the fact that they turned away so many shiploads of refugees that went on to die at the hands of Nazis.

“the us wanted to see how many people an atomic bomb could kill in one go” oh really? Source your bullshit, asshole

i left out sources bc i figured most tumblr users know how to use google but ok

- Report produced by the U.S Strategic Bombing Group (employed by Truman) to survey the air attacks on Japan concluded that:

“Based on a detailed investigation of all the facts and supported by the testimony of the surviving Japanese leaders involved, it is the Survey’s opinion that certainly prior to 31 December 1945 and in all probability prior to 1 November 1945, Japan would have surrendered even if the atomic bombs had not been dropped, even if Russia had not entered the war, and even if no invasion had been planned or contemplated.” - page 52-56

- Dwight Eisenhower future president and then Supreme Commander of the Allied Forces also said:

I had been conscious of a feeling of depression and so I voiced to [the then Secretary of War] my grave misgivings, first on the basis of my belief that Japan was already defeated and that dropping the bomb was completely unnecessary, and secondly because I thought that our country should avoid shocking world opinion by the use of a weapon whose employment was, I thought, no longer mandatory as a measure to save American lives.” - page 380

- Admiral William Leahy, one of the highest ranking officials in the US army during WW2 wrote of the usage of the bombs:

It is my opinion that the use of this barbarous weapon at Hiroshima and Nagasaki was of no material assistance in our war against Japan. […] My own feeling was that in being the first to use it, we had adopted an ethical standard common to the barbarians of the Dark Ages. I was not taught to make war in that fashion, and wars cannot be won by destroying women and children.” - page 441

- General Douglas McArthur, another high ranking US official in the war:

[When asked about his opinion on bombing Japan] He replied that he saw no military justification for the dropping of the bomb. The war might have ended weeks earlier, he said, if the United States had agreed, as it later did anyway, to the retention of the institution of the emperor.” - page 70-71

- On September 9, 1945 Admiral William F. Halsey commander of the Third Fleet publicly quoted as saying:

“The first atomic bomb was an unnecessary experiment… . It was a mistake to ever drop it… . [the scientists] had this toy and they wanted to try it out, so they dropped it… . It killed a lot of Japs.” - online source

- The US secretary of war, Henry Stimson, speaking to President Truman:

“I was a little fearful that before we could get ready the Air Force might have Japan so thoroughly bombed out that the new weapon [the atomic bomb] would not have a fair background to show its strength.” - diary of Henry Stimson which can be found online here

- Even those deploying the bombs questioned the decision to drop them on civilian cities:

I thought that if we were going to drop the atomic bomb, drop it on the outskirts–say in Tokyo Bay–so that the effects would not be as devastating to the city and the people. I made this suggestion over the phone between the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings and I was told to go ahead with our targets.” - online source

- Lewis Strauss Assistant to the Navy Secretary James Forrestal on the locations of the bombings:

I remember suggesting […] a large forest of cryptomeria trees not far from Tokyo. The cryptomeria tree is the Japanese version of our redwood… I anticipated that a bomb detonated at a suitable height above such a forest… would lay the trees out in windrows from the center of the explosion in all directions as though they were matchsticks, and, of course, set them afire in the center. […] Secretary Forrestal agreed wholeheartedly with the recommendation.” - page 145

So to recap:

  1. A lot of American generals were against using the bomb as they felt it served an empty purpose.
  2. Those who agreed with its usage completely disagreed with dropping them on cities.
  3. Truman went ahead and had them detonated in two highly populated civilian cities anyway. Two cities that had remained mostly untouched by regular bombings throughout the war precisely bc of their lack of value to the Japanese war effort.

Draw your own conclusions.

Remember that despite America building its own mythos after the fact and casting itself as the “good guy” who rode in like the calvary, they only did so after supplying the Nazis. The US also interned countless American-born Japanese citizens and conveniently took all their land and property and gave it to white Americans. The US claimed this was for ‘safety’ reasons, but to this day there has been no evidence that that was true. The US also notably didn’t lock up German, Italian, or other immigrants.

Here’s a photo of two Japanese children on a school trip to the WWII museum in Hiroshima. They’re holding hands as they look at an exhibit of a child’s school uniform from the blast. The US did this.

Another thing the Barbie movie made me realize is how many movies "made for men" I've watched with some guys friends of mine (like Fast and Furious).

I go to the cinema, watch the movie, happily listen to their thoughts about it and say I enjoyed my time. I ignore how bad the story may have been and enjoy my time because he is enjoying his time.

But when it comes to a movie to which I emotionally connect so deeply as I did to Barbie, I don't see the same effort coming from them to understand why I or any of our girl friends enjoyed our time wearing pink and watching a movie about a doll.

Just a thought that occurred me

And this is why I say the rwby fandom is extremely hypocritical

And it's not like including MLM in the show would be hard either

These arguments are such bullshit. People do complain about books or whatever with only MLM rep, and it’s fair to call out CRWBY for their behavior as they have admitted they fetishize WlW relationships and are turned on by them and have said they aren’t “threatened” by them because a woman “can’t give another woman what a man can”. They don’t give a shit about representation they can’t fetishize.

*Muscleman voice* "You know who ELSE thinks that you shouldn't let 'men' into 'women' things and the reason they give for it is they think men are inherently superior and so they have to call for complete segregation of the sexes because they're too sexist to think that women can be the focus if men exist?"

A few weeks ago, I was going on a RadFem blocking spree: sometimes when I see a RadFem blog, if I have time to kill, I'll go to their page and look at their followers, and pull up every single blog they follow and check if they're also a radfem, and if they are, I block them too

And there was this one RadFem blog that I went to, that had received an anonymous ask that was like "I'm technically a man, but I've been reading up a lot on RadFem ideology and I actually agree with a lot of it, so I'm just wondering if it's possible for a man to be a RadFem."

And the RadFem answered this ask with a long-ass rant about how no, it's actually not possible for a man to be a RadFem, because if a man became a RadFem, then all the RadFems would automatically, instinctively, STOP LISTENING TO EACH OTHER, AND ONLY LISTEN TO THE MAN. She went on to rant that it is "impossible for women to deprogram themselves from submitting to men," and insisted that "Men are inherently going to overshadow women, and women cannot resist it," and argued that if a "Man" said "RadFems are right," then ALL THE WOMEN IN THE RADFEM CIRCLES WOULD PAY TOO MUCH ATTENTION TO HIM, BECAUSE IT IS "IMPOSSIBLE" FOR WOMEN TO EXIST IN THE SAME SPACE AS MEN WITHOUT BEING PROVEN INFERIOR

The justification that RadFems give as to why they think "men" should not be allowed anywhere near "womens" things is because they are too sexist to think women can keep up with men. This is why TERFs and RadFems think that Trans women shouldn't be allowed to participate in sports or enter skateboard competitions or play chess or or or or or- it's because RadFems and TERFs think that women are inherently inferior, and therefore, if men are allowed to exist in their presence, women will automatically "lose."

Also, it's actually a lie that queer men representation outstrips queer women representation. According to the yearly report from GLAAD analyzing queer represenation in television, there were 596 LGBTQ+ characters counted on the television programs of the major platforms in the 2022-2023 broadcast season:

  • There were 310 LGBTQ+ women counted (52% of all LGBTQ+ characters) 261 men (44%) and 25 nonbinary (4%)
  • There were 32 Trans characters counted: 16 Trans Women, 11 Trans Men, and 5 Trans Nonbinary characters
  • There were 149 bisexual characters counted: 104 bisexual Women, 39 bisexual Men, and 6 bisexual nonbinary characters

"Queer men are in everything, and this is the ONE TIME where queer women are on top" is a lie.

This falsehood is just another weapon in the arsenal of TERFs and RadFems, who are looking for an excuse to keep the sexes segregated and to exclude trans people, because they genuinely believe, for whatever inexplicable reason, that "men" are "inherently automatically superior" to "women," and point-blank refuse to engage in true equality.

The RadFems in the fndm are determined that no queer men will "taint" their "pure" show - and it's obvious, disgusting, homophobic, and sexist.

Also it's really fucking hilarious that RWBY's last remaining diehards (who at this point are almost all Bumblby shippers) are literally saying, openly and without restraint, that they are opposed to letting in a SINGLE SOLITARY QUEER MAN because they are afraid that it will "overshadow" BUMBLBY, the ship between 2 out of 4 main characters XD like tell me you have absolutely no faith in your Flagship without telling me you have absolutely NO FAITH in your FLAGSHIP xD

TERFs and RadFems in the RWBY fandom: "I oppose the inclusion of more queer rep on the grounds that I am TERRIFIED that it will make Bumblby look bad by comparison, considering I personally believe that Men are Superior and therefore Women can only win if they win by default. I am Homophobic enough and Sexist enough to think this makes me progressive."

This fandom is diseased. The RadFems need to be cut out like a rot before it's too late and RWBY becomes wholly unsalvageable - if it's not too late already

gaslighting, manipulating and mentally scarring a new player at moorland who wonders where i got my big, fire-y demon horse with glowing green eyes by saying "??? it's just a normal black shire" and every time anyone else comes close to us changing to its normal coat.

Star stable was kinda unhinged when they made the guy that gives you the tutorial join a cult

A brief timeline of Justin Moorland's life since MC arrived on Jorvik:

  1. get recruited into grandpa's cult and drugged and manipulated into staying
  2. that girl you met for five minutes and taught how to care for her horse who gave you the letter leading to you joining your grandpa's cult shows up and rescues you on a horse with pink glowing wings
  3. you find out that she is also in a cult and this cult imprisons you for having joined the other cult even though you were drugged and manipulated into staying
  4. that same girl shows up again and bails you out of jail, meaning she has now rescued you from 2 separate cults
  5. despite just having rescued you from the cult it turns out that she and her friends are EXTREMELY into the cult's activities and they make you do a ritual that almost makes you cease to exist
  6. depression

MANUAL BLAZE MODE GO

….am I allowed to say “whovians, grab your TARDISes?” You know how it is.

Tumblr loves doing this.  I tried to make a post about the ads that showed actual human penises in them, with screenshots, and it was taken down for violating community guidelines.... unlike the ad, I guess?

Men complaining about Barbie Movie are so pathetic

'they want to turn everyone gay' you literally have Margot Robbie, one of the most beautiful actresses working today, in pink mini dresses and bathing suits and then you also have beautiful women dressed as maids, mermaids, cheerleaders like ??? if you were very distracted by Ryan Gosling and his muscular body I have news for you, friend

'it's anti men' no??? it literally shows Ken being unhappy in a world run by the Barbies and the Barbies being unhappy in a world run by Kens. At the end they work together and find happiness

'it's anti women being mothers because they smash baby dolls' one of the main characters is literally a mother trying to connect with her daughter ??? The baby doll message is about girls being given other choices besides being a mother and house wife

So dumb

Oppenheimer has no women for the first 30 minutes and the moment we see one shes naked. I LOVE Florence Pugh but the contrast is pretty strong. It ignores the female scientists that actually worked at the time, btw. I did love Oppenheimer but it's not perfect in that regard either.

today im thinking about the huge buff bread guy from kikis delivery service. highly underrated guy

Genuinely just a good man. Wife adopts teenage witch that needs a place to stay in the city? Sure. Even though you got a kid on the way? That’s fine. Cat too? Love cats.

Avatar

My favorite moment with him is when he goes to get some prepped baking sheets and he does this fancy twirl with them in front of Jiji. Like, there’s no other people in the room, he does this to impress a cat.

I don’t think he ever says more than a whole word the entire movie, and I still love him more than most Disney princes based on this one moment alone.

And the part where he wanted to surprise Kiki by making that beautiful elaborate sign OUT OF BREAD to advertise her business and he was all anxious for her to get home and see it

But then when he sees her coming he gets all bashful and runs away 😭

the most underrated thing about the ghibli movies is how deeply they are love stories to working people, to the small folk, to moments of love and kindness. its not just about magic, many movies are about magic and fairytales. Its not only about the people in the stories, but about stories in the people. And they are just loveable.

Tips for Writing and Drawing Amputees: Bandaged Stumps

When writing and drawing amputee characters, unless your character only just lost their limb, they don't need to wear a bandage over their stumps.

to be clear, eda's depiction in the show was fine, since she'd only just lost her arm and went (presumably) without any medical attention, but because the show didn't have much time to show her afterwards, I've noticed a tendency of the fandom to draw her wearing the bandage permanently, so that's why I'm picking on her for my example lol.

It's a bit of a trope at this point, and I think it comes from one of a few different places:

  1. Amputees do wear bandages on their stumps, but usually only for the first 6-12 weeks post-amputation, sometimes longer if the amputation was a result of a burn. It's possible people saw this though and assumed it was permanent.
  2. Most amputees wear a sock made of either cotton or silicone under their prosthetics to provide them with some extra padding. These socks, called liners, often stick out from the top of the prosthetic socket and could possibly be mistaken for a bandage from a distance.
  3. Some amputees will wear compression garments for a few months to a few years after their amputations which could also be mistaken for a bandage from a distance. These garments are designed to stop swelling and reduce phantom pain, but they aren't bandages.
  4. Stumps get cold easier because their circulation typically isn't as good as the rest of the body, so some amputees will wear socks over them even if they aren't wearing a prosthetic to keep warm, which again could be mistaken for a bandage from a distance.
  5. This one is funny, but in my experience unfortunately, it's the most common: people think the end of an amputee's stump is just a perpetual open wound that never heals. Meaning to avoid "gore" it needs to be covered. I've met fully grown adults who believed this until I showed up to work/uni without my prosthetics or socks on.
  6. People are uncomfortable with seeing an uncovered stump and so put bandages over it to avoid confronting their biases.
  7. Some combination of these points.

But yeah, unless your amputee has only just lost their limb in the last few weeks, they don't need a bandage.

The ironic thing too, is that for most amputees, bandaging a stump is nearly impossible. I've been in and out of hospital since I was 1 year old and only ever met 3 nurses and no doctors/surgeons who could successfully bandage my stump in a way that the bandage would even stay on. This is because stumps are usually tapered in shape (meaning they are wider at the top, closer to the body, and thinner at the bottom), so gravity will pull the bandage off 9 times out of 10.

On a final note: it's ok to show your amputee's stump, it's not gore, there's no blood, it just looks like a regular limb that just stops early. In fact, if you are writing/creating anything for kids or that is likely to be seen by kids, I encourage you to show your amputee's stumps at least once. I used to work on a disability awareness program for kids, and I lost count of the amount of times kids were terrified of me, because they all expected my leg to be bloody and gory. For a lot of kids, I was their first real-life exposure to an amputee, meaning they'd never even heard of people like me, or they had seen an amputee on TV, but because the show went out of its way to avoid showing the person's stump, they assumed it must have been because there was "something scary at the end" that they weren't supposed to see (kids are surprisingly perceptive, they will pick up on stuff like that without you realising). And scared kids aren't good at articulating why they're scared, and would often say really mean or hurtful things to me. I knew not to take it personally and learned how to handle those situations, but not everyone is used to dealing with kids. For a new amputee (or anyone who's less confident in their disability), the kinds of things those kids would say could be absolutely confidence destroying. I never blame the kids, it's not their fault, but the whole situation could have been avoided if they had seen people like us before they had the chance to hear the wrong info. Good representation like this can be the difference between a kid crying, making throw-up sounds and calling an amputee "disgusting monsters" (all things I've had kids do/say) and them just being like "oh ok, cool."

What able bodied authors think I, an amputee and a wheelchair user, would want in a scifi setting:

  • Tech that can regenerate my old meat legs.
  • Robot legs that work just like meat legs and are functionally just meat legs but robot
  • Literally anything that would mean I don't have to use a wheelchair.
  • If I do need to use a wheelchair, make it fly or able to "walk me" upstairs

What I actually want:

  • Prosthetic covers that can change colour because I'm too indecisive to pick one colour/pattern for the next 5+ years.
  • A leg that I can turn off (seriously, my above knee prosthetic has no off switch... just... why?)
  • A leg that won't have to get refitted every time I gain or loose weight.
  • A wheelchair that I can teleport to me and legs I can teleport away when I'm too tierd to keep walking. And vice versa.
  • In that same vein, legs I can teleport on instead of having to fiddle around with the sockets for half an hour.
  • Prosthetic feet that don't require me to wear shoes. F*ck shoes.
  • Actually accessible architecture, which means when I do want to use my wheelchair, it's not an issue.
  • Prosthetic legs with dragon-claw feet instead of boring human feet or just digigrade prosthetics that are just as functional as normal human-shaped ones.
  • A manual wheelchair with the option to lift my seat up like those scissor-lift things so I'm not eye-level with everyone's butt on public transport/so I can reach the top shelf by myself.
  • A prosthetic foot that lights up when it hits the ground like those children's shoes.

Ambulatory wheelchair user + chronic pain additions:

  • Temperature controlled seat
  • Android that brings my chair to me and is such a bro
  • Hovers smoothly over bumpy road and stairs and makes a woooowooooowoooo sound when it does
  • Chair wheels that light up when spun and charge my chair so it can be driven via joystick after a while of manual use
  • Alerts on my phone if the chair is being moved without my knowledge
  • Integrated GPS and the ability to dial emergency numbers
  • And autopilot to take me home if I get tipsy <3

White Fang propaganda. how come all the bad faunus have different skin tones handle trauma in less comfortable ways fight harder against their oppressive system and in turn are more oppressed by the system. meanwhile 80-90% of the good ones are virtually all white with a handful of exceptions and also never. do. anything. about their peoples oppression. BUT THATS OK THOUGH the humans aren’t that bad they’re just scared of the black people. I mean they’re scared of the the Faunus they’re scared of……. the oppressors are scared of the minorities surely both sides are equally bad :)

Shoot me. It’d hurt less

The rvvby character designer saying that the character who’s allusion is Thor would “look weird with long hair”, bitch tell me you don’t know shit about Thor as a mythological figure without telling me you don’t know shit about Thor as a mythological figure

When the fucking MCU knows about Thor as a character more than an actual character designer is embarrassing

CRWBY/RT YOU ARE ONE OF THE MANY COMPANIES I WANNA DECK IN THE FACE! FUCK OFF!

gawd do they ever stop.

it's not even that nora with short hair is a bad character design, i think it helps her stand out amongst the long haired girls even just in the main & secondary team. we have pyrrha, blake, weiss & yang with various forms of long hair: having ruby & nora with their shorter bobs sets them apart & gives us a momentary glimpse into what type of characters they are.

however, ein lee saying this doesn't surprise me because beyond the hammer that nora wields & the lightning motif, there are no allusions to thor in her original character design. no norse wings, no trees or foliage, goats or anything associated with farming which was part of thor's domain as a god. she is completely devoid of any of these smaller tidbits in any of her designs & it's frustratingly easy to fix.

like, if we're going to have allusions: use them! they're there & begging to be explored in so many interesting ways!

the extra information of monty having a far more sexualized design that ein lee had to "tone down" while nora still ending up in a skirt that we see up no less than three times in the show is just :))) this show doesn't sexualize it's female characters my ass.
