“Hi mom...”

Sunshine streamed brightly through the orange leaves that adorned the trees up the path Gilroy found himself on, one that by now he knew well. It’s been quite some time since him and his father had first made this climb, even longer since the day the pair had left the safety of Vault 76 for good, but even now the serenity the walk up the hill brought him remained the same as it was the first time. Climbing up to the top, the young man walked by the imposing figure of the Landview Lighthouse, ignoring it as he made his way to a still growing tree overlooking the valley. Once he reached it, the ginger placed his hand on the rough bark before he sat down and leaned his back against the wood.

"Hi mom... it’s just me today...” He began, leaning his head against the bark, tilting his head upwards. “It’s been a while... I see that your branches are full of leaves like always, especially at this time of year, If you could see them I’m sure you’d like them too.” He sighed, staying silent for a few seconds. “Dad would’ve wanted to come see you too, but I let him sleep in this morning... He’s had a rough week, so I wanted him to get some more rest...” 

Another sigh left his lips "...It's not easy out here mom, not a day goes by that I don't wish I was still in that vault, not having to worry about staying alive every single day, fighting everything that just wants us dead..., but I know that this is for the best. those who survived all of this would’ve been done for if it wasn’t for our help, our skills... but I just wish that when that vault opened you had been standing on the other side, waiting for us...” Gilroy shut his eyes.

“I know that dad has many regrets about what he did or didn't do with you back before... everything happened, but no matter how much I try to help him, I still don’t think he's be ready to move on, even if he says otherwise. I know that I was too young to remember our lives before the war, but I... I just wish I could remember more about you, even if it hurt to think about those memories...” 

“Dad always says that you were as beautiful as you were kind, and he always said that I look a lot like you did... but I really wish I could've seen the resemblance myself... to see you myself..."

The young man grew silent for a few moments, the sounds of leaves rustling in the wind above him along with the faint sound of birds and insects chirping somewhere in the background filled the empty silence that dominated the hill. After a few minutes had passed, Gilroy finally stood up.

"I should probably get going, Dad’s probably going to wake up soon, and I don’t want him to find the house empty when he does... Don't worry, the two of us will come visit again soon, I promise, just need to wait for things to calm down first..."

Gilroy placed his hand back on the bark in front of him, holding it against the wood for a few short seconds before pulling away. "I love you mom, I’ll see you later, ok?" With that said, Gilroy backed away from the tree and turned himself around as he started back on the path towards home, feeling a moment of peace between all the chaos.

"Elias

2. Do you know why are you named that?

"My grandfather was called Elias, so my dad named him after him. I only knew him for a little while before he died and I was still young at the time, so I barely remember him. I do know that some people thought highly of him though."

3. Are you single or taken?

"Single, and and I don't have any plans to be anythin' else."

4. Have any abilities or powers?

"Well I'm a sharp shooter, pistols and revolvers are my thing, so I've got pretty good aim. I did give the minutemen weapons a try though, so I do have a lazer weapon for when I can't outshoot someone with my revolver from two blocks away."

"Heh, trust me, anything but that."

"Hazel, or quite light brown really, been told ot looks pretty or somethin' like that. Think I got them from my mom's side."

"Just a shade of dark brown, sometimes you notice it, sometimes you don't."

"If you really need to know, I had a father and a mother back in New York, dad died when I was still a kid though."

"Being fooled I guess? I don't know, maybe seeing somethin' happen that that I'm not able to do anythin' about."

"Well... I do like going out and practicin' my aim, but really nowadays I'm too busy to do much outside of my work. There's still a lot to do around here."

"Who hasn't killed anyone nowadays, really."

"I sorta went to school back in New York, there was one in the settlement I grew up in."

"You could say that. Every time I'm around, Preston follows me around from one place to the other. Plus I've gotten the respect of the new Minutemen in my time here."

"That's somethin' you don't need to know."

"It depends, while traveling I wear some good amount of gear, but when at a settlement I wear a jumpsuit, they're pretty comfy. There's also my Minutemen uniform... but that's for more serious situations."

"Hm... maybe some well cooked radstag or brahmin, not every day you can eat some made perfectly."

"Well I do have some plans I need to look over you know..."

"Well most of what I make goes to the Minutemen, and we do have enough to feed our people and keep us armed, so I'd say middle class, especially compared to how I've been before."

"Pie? Well uh, pie is good. I had one a long time ago and it had tasted pretty good... not sure what else you want me to say."

"No, not really."
