Did you ever go through a Heartstopper phase? Im currently In mine :,] but! I love your art! (Also, (you don’t have to) but if you have watched heartstopper could you draw the best gay boys ever!! <3)
Of course!!!
didn't expect the cute sea monsters animated film to go so hard for "imperialism sustains itself through violence, exploitation, and monopolistic revisionist history" so that was a nice surprise
[ID: A 4 star review of "The Sea Beast" by ankle-beez on Letterboxd that reads, "an anti-war message intertwined with themes of historical revisionism, complex characters, sick monster designs, and mature storytelling? yea this movie had it all. this fucking ruled"]
Cant stop thinking about that line from The Sea Beast that Maisie says:
"I have every right to speak! I come from a long line on Hunters, that died your great death. Your Kingdom was paid for with their blood! And their blood"
The clear message of the effects of nationalism and imperialism can have on the people, the land, and their history how it can quickly take over and use its lower class citizens as pawns for their dirty work.
How Maisie changes from seeing her parents as great war heros to victims to the crown as so many others were human and sea beast alike.
Anyways watch The Sea Beast
I love you How to Train Your Dragon. I love you The Sea Beast. I love you “everything we know about you is wrong”. I love you “you can be a hero and still be wrong”. I love you children questioning generations of propaganda. I love you adorable yet dangerous creature winning over a child with an act of kindness in the midst of a war. I love you children ending your parents wars through an unlikely friendship. I love you children teaching your community to chose forgiveness and peace. I love you power of friendship overcoming generations of hate.
The Sea Beast has shown me that we don't have enough How to train your Dragon esk movies/series and honestly it's a crime. Give me more "younger generation realize that the 'monsters' they were thaught to hate arnt actually monsters, and then go out of their way to prove it."

“Aye. They were heroes. But you can be a hero and still be wrong.”
The Sea Beast (2022) dir. Chris Williams
I believe this is the start of a trend of what kind of Netflix movies I really like:
Love this new Netflix genre of "Accidental Dad and his Adopted Problem Child join hands to overthrow the government which has been lying to everyone with centuries of propaganda"
