Y'all I had the wildest dream. Pre-Cruel Prince era Jude somehow finds out about Cardan's affection for her and decides to get her sexy on and be a tease. Nobody else(except maybe Locke. He is oddly preceptive about their tension)understands her sudden wardrobe change and Cardan is just moping on the ground trying to hide his package like, "She's teasing me😖" but then he's like "How does she know? And now she's teasing me!!! Unacceptable!😡 and I'm infinitely confused
My man Jesus
What story is that?
Matthew 18:9
“And if your eye causes you to sin, gouge it out and throw it away.”
“Jesus, how can I avoid sin when all these hussies keep revealing the fact that they have bodies?!”
“Hmmm, tough call bro. Have you tried gouging out your eyes so you don’t have to see all those bodies anymore?”
“wut”
“What?”
“Shouldn’t you tell them to… stop dressing like that or something?”
“Don’t see why. It’s not their fault that the fact that they have bodies makes you a fucking sinful horndog. Gotta fix that problem yourself, buddy. Go on, blind yourself.”
“Uh….”
“Or learn to keep it in your g’damn pants no matter what they’re wearing.”
He goes on for like several examples too.
“How can I avoid like, an accidental slip of the hand when…they’re dressin like that?”
“Cut it off.”
“wut”
“Cut it off. Your hand. If it’s a problem, stop having a hand.”
“wut”
“What”
“Did I fucking stutter?”
“Look after the root of the tree, and the fragrant flower and luscious fruits will grow by themselves. Look after the health of the body, and the fragrance of the mind and richness of the spirit will follow.”
— B.K.S. Iyengar
little advice for life
live more intuitively. eat when you are hungry. stop when your body is satisfied. sleep or rest when you are tired. run 5 miles when you are full of energy. take off your jacket if you are too hot; no one cares if it fits to your outfit. cry when you want to. laugh loud as heck if you want to. and by that i don’t mean to let your mind take the steering wheel, i want your mind to listen to your body and be more conscious of what it wants and needs. it may sound a lot more stressful when you live like this, but let me tell you (from someone with anxiety): it makes you a lot less stressed knowing you will do what your body wants. and i know it’s not always possible to do whatever you want due to rules and stuff. but at least try. no one really cares though. it makes life a lot calmer than it is when you want to train your body to be a certain type of way. listen to it.
Ultimately, we all have the same goals: We want harmony, peace and to be loved as we are. So, why do we keep making it so hard for each other to achieve these goals? Stop complaining. Stop gossiping. Stop judging. Stop tearing yourself and others down. Stop hurting others intentionally. Just stop. All these behaviours come from a place of hurt (most of the time). They are a cry for attention, a cry to be noticed - but they do not make anything better. Focus on working on yourself, on accepting and loving yourself. Because someone who is truly at peace with themselves, would never bring other people down. Start bringing light, positivity and kindess to this world. We need it so much. And it is already within you, my love.
“Above all else, be in wonder. Be in awe of nature, existence, good vibes, long walks on the beach, good stress, relaxation, and finding your destined lover. Be delighted in everything that you are in harmony with: The sun and the flowers, the ocean and the waves, the sky and the birds and the air and the stars and the you who deserves to find all the amazement and beauty that this world could ever offer. Be in love with the everythingness of everything and how we give thanks and show appreciation for all the things that have been given to us in this rather brief short period we have on this planet is what’s keeping us all together. We are the children of possibility, and gratitude is our mother.”
— juansen dizon, Gratitude is our mother
let yourself be gross!!! be ugly!!! be awkward and clumsy!!! don’t force yourself to make eye contact!!! don’t force yourself to dress well!!! don’t wear uncomfortable clothes!!! stim in public!!! let your hair be messy!!! let yourself be fat!!! get that haircut everyone says you don’t have the face for!!! be tacky!!! don’t hide your pimples!!! let yourself be comfortable in your own skin and never sacrifice that for other people’s comfort!!!
I wish I could. My mother would have my head
Here’s something that needs to be said: being a hairy woman is beautiful and healthy.
It’s completely normal to have hair on your breasts, on your crotch, and literally everywhere else. You’re allowed to have a hairy face, and hairy legs, and hairy armpits, and you’re allowed to be damn proud of it!
This goes doubly so for trans women. Don’t be embarrassed about any hair you have, it doesn’t change a damn thing about who you are as a person; and who you are is a godsdamn beautiful woman.
It’s normal and healthy and beautiful to be hairy.
I can't stress this enough
I hate that with liberal feminism, every conversation gets shut down with “its her choice!!”. Like in one of my women’s studies classes we were talking about body hair and I shared how I think the societal expectation of women to shave is bullshit on so many levels but I still feel the immense pressure to shave during the summer due to fear of ridicule or personal embarrassment and another woman in my class responded with “but it’s your choice to shave so it’s empowering!!” Like no. Shaving my legs to alleviate feelings of shame if I don’t is not ‘empowering’. Being uncomfortable with my body’s natural state is not ‘empowering’.
I still think Moana deserved an Oscar for this part
To me, the moral of Moana is that only women can help other women heal from male violence.
The movie starts with the idea that the male god who wronged Te Fiti must be the one to heal her. This seems to make a certain sort of intuitive sense in that I think we all believe that if you do something wrong you should try to make it right. But how does he try to right it? Through more violence. Of course that failed.
It was only when another woman, Moana, saw past the “demon of earth and fire” that the traumatized Te Fiti had become (what a good metaphor for trauma, right?) and met her with love instead of violence that she was able to heal. Note that they do the forehead press before Moana restores the heart, while Te Fiti is still Te Kā. Moana doesn’t wait for her beautiful island goddess to appear in all her green splendor before greeting and treating her as someone deserving of love.
Moana is only able to restore the heart because Te Kā reveals her vulnerability and allows Moana to touch her there. Maui and his male violence could only ever have resulted in more ruin.
This is a touching anaylisis but it’s extremely racist as not only have you completely ignored the whole point of Maui’s character, but have managed to incriminate a man of color on a tumblr wide scale.
First of all, Maui’s character does not represent male violence—it represent human greed. Maui did not take the heart because he is a man, and Te-Fiti is a woman. He took it because the humans asked him to. The humans asked Maui to do everything for them, not caring how greedy or selfish their requests were and in the end it was Maui who suffered for it. Maui is supposed to show the flaw of humanity.
This has nothing to do with sexism, it has everything to do with the fact that Maui gave and gave to the humans who could never stop being greedy. Moana giving the heart back wasn’t supposed to be her “making up” for the male violence that Maui represents. It was her making up for the greed she and her people represent. It was touching however because yes it was an important moment between two women, but you missed the point and you’ve come off racist and very disrespectful to a culture at that.
Yes, Moana is an empowering movie for women, especially women of color. But the last thing this is about is Maui being an abuser/rapist or whatever. That is not the point of Maui’s character.
And to assume so is racist. You are a white woman completely dehumanizing a man of color and ruining his image because of how you see him. And other white girls here on tumblr have happily picked up that image and interpretation and rolled with it. Maui’s character is now seen as an abuser or as someone who is violently because of white girls here on tumblr—which it doesn’t surprise me. (an in a historical context this is even MORE racist because white women would always make Maui’s people out to be savages and abusers etc., simply because of the color of their skin and their culture so yea, this is bad).
You can see the morality of the movie however you want, but do not be disrespectful toward a character and in this case a culture.
@i-want-cheese Please don’t write this off as another “butthurt comment” or “male guilt”, because this is really messed up. I see how you’re brushing off some other people’s comments and I honestly hope that you don’t see mine the same way because this is an issue I think you need to face/realize. You are being racist and brushing it off isn’t going to change that. the
@visibilityofcolor THANK YOU FOR THIS. As a Polynesian woman, reading that post and other replies painting Maui and even Tui as aggressive and violent men had me feeling some type of way, especially since White people have always regarded Polynesian men in such a manner.
I’ve thought about replying because I’m tired of seeing these kind of “Moana is a feminist movie” posts collect hundreds of notes despite the fact that these posts always conveniently fail to mention Pasifika people, but it always stressed me out, so thank you.
As an aside, Maui taking Te Fiti’s heart and Moana restoring it was symbolic of environmental preservation. Because the people who inspired Moana–Pasifika people, not just Polynesian–are always affected first when the environment is threatened. Our way of life is greatly influenced by the ocean and we believe that if you take care of the ocean, she will take care of you.
You’re very welcome.
This is insight for me as well (as I wasn’t aware that the movie also came fro the culture of the Pasifika people), and does give a very important perspective. I do agree with you, this movie is about environmental restoration, not some white fem bullshit.
I tried over and over again to explain to I-want-cheese about how she was being racist, but she responded by blocking me and other poc who called her out (even other polynesian people). People to this day are still trying to explain that she is being racist and culturally insensitive but she ignores us.
I’ve made a few posts about this, hoping that people realize how problematic it is to agree with i-want-cheese. Explaining to her racist white ass that this was problematic was like explaining to a bird. She wouldn’t listen and neither would have of her racist friends.
Sorry you’ve had to see this on your dash every so often, but I’m glad my portion of the post is starting to get around. (reblogged to the wrong blog at first lols)
dang reblogging this as a correction for the very first reblog. this why feminist analysis always needs to be intersectional
My heart just cried
the portrayal of Maui is super important here, the disney crew put a LOT of effort into getting him right because he IS a crucial figure to an entire culture- basically a cross between a central religious figure and superman so handling him poorly would be catastrophically disrespectful there are basically only two parts of Mauis legend that they flub- they only tell half of the story of when he was abandoned as a baby, and they skip over that stealing the heart of Te-Fiti so he could give it to humanity was the legend in which he dies yes, canonically Maui dies in his quest to give gifts to humanity, its an important element of why Maui is such a profound character, not just ‘man who hurt someone’ strawman it gets worse when you discover the OTHER legend they fudged, the story of his birth, reinforces this. Mauis mother had several (Hawaiians only say three, new zealand says five) sons, all named Maui, so when she had ANOTHER son she named him Maui as well, but then cast him into the sea for there was no way she could support another son. the gods did not save Maui, as Moana says, instead they return him to his mother and say she must give him a chance. to which his mother states that for her to take care of him this infant must remove the roof from her house by throwing spears at it. that is the story of Maui the skillful, abandoned as an infant and then immediately told that he must PROVE his worth, after which all he ever does is prove his worth
his brothers mocked him for being a poor fisherman, he crafts a fishook from a jawbone and proceeds to raise new islands from the sea the sky is so low the trees bend, maui raises it for everyone, then fills the new sky with wind
the sun flies so quickly there is not enough time in the day to do the labors for everyone, maui has to lay traps for each of the suns many feet, chase after it as it was slowed, and then threaten to chop its legs off if it would not slow down
he then due to the complaints of the now longer dark night creates the moon and is upset his creation will not please humanity for it does not make sufficient light, then shows it to the sun so that it may learn how to be bright maui was credited with having invented as gifts for humanity the outrigger canoe, stone tools, and seaworthy boats that had no mast or sails. he was credited with inventing tattoos as a gift to dogs, however humanity is still not content so maui descends to the land of the dead to ask the secret of creating fire from the grandmother, who kept it hidden in her fingernails. he dropped the fingernail in the water as he tried to return to the land of the living, came back for another, dropped it as well, and went through all ten fingers and toenails untill he had to then interrogate birds the grandmother had shared the secret with to tell him how
a monstrous eel tried to put the moves on his wife, and again maui had to prove his worth to reclaim her by breaking the monster eel’s spine, shoving him into the ground to create the first coconut tree, the single most useful thing for polynesian life, as a gift to humanity yet again Maui, as a mythological figure, did nothing but give from the day he was born. he gave humans tools, land, fire, boats, light, the wind, everything except life itself and he even tried to give them that- and it killed him, he was bitten in two a crucial part of Maui as a legend is that he failed, its literally part of the point, also that he was driven to prove himself endlessly to the (during his life) ungrateful. do not try and drag Maui, its disrespectful on a level i cant express thank the man, you asshole Moana succeeded where he failed, for she saw that she did not have to prove herself. the whole movie up untill then she was trying to put on a brave face (there was literally a cut song ‘warrior face’ where maui teaches her Haka), shout her courage, announce to the world at large that she WILL do the thing and fix the world and be the hero, just like Maui
its easy to miss, she stopped trying to prove who she was to anyone, there was nobody she needed to prove herself TO she just WAS herself, and that brought her peace
Oh man…this is why it’s so important to hear the perspectives of the peoples actually represented. When I was reading through this, the first part seemed to make a lot of sense on the surface, but I could *never* have imagined how racist that perspective was. It makes so much more sense now. Thank you to the folks in this thread who were willing to take the time to share their perspective so that oblivious folks like me could do a little more to chip away at our own internalized racism.
(Also the story of Maui is heckin’ sad, gosh :( )
What Slasher said. I was ready to reblog right at the first part. I never considered this. Thanks to everyone else on this post for sharing.
For anyone not aware, @/i-want-cheese is a hardcore TERF, so that gives another perspective to their language used above.
YALL THANK YOU FOR ALL THESE ADDITIONS
This is gorgeous
Here’s to my Demis. The demisexuals who get told that ‘everyone is like that.’ The demiromantics who have a hard time describing their attraction. The Demi boys and Demi girls who get told they’re ‘basically boys’ or 'pretty much girls’. I love you, you’re valid, and you matter so much to me.
@my-cemetery-eyes demisexuality is not experiencing sexual attraction until an emotional bond is formed
Reblog if you love your ace, aro, and demi pals
They need support! I love y'all! Y'all’s is great! 🖤💜💟
Keeping In Mind
In Spanish today my teacher said that woman are the downfall of every man and me being me, I'm up in class thinking about the LGBTQ+ like "you sure about that"
“Oh you’re asexual? I bet you just want attention.”
You’re damn right I want attention.
I want attention so that every teenager who’s not interested in sex doesn’t feel like they’re broken.
I want attention so that every asexual with an allosexual spouse doesn’t feel like they’re being unfair for not wanting sex.
I want attention so that every asexual who’s repulsed by or indifferent to sex doesn’t think they’re the problem.
I want attention so that asexuals don’t get pushed out of LGBT+ safe spaces for being “basically straight”.
I want attention so that asexuals who come out to their health care providers don’t get told they need to get their hormone levels checked.
I want attention so that asexuals don’t get called “frigid”.
I want attention so that asexual storylines in media don’t turn into “fix it” storylines.
I want attention so that asexuals stop hearing “you just haven’t met the right person yet.”
I want attention so ace-specs like demisexuals stop hearing “that’s just how everyone is.”
I want attention so that asexuals stop suffering corrective rape to “cure” us.
I want attention so people stop accusing me of being asexual just to be “different”.
I want attention so I can have respect.
@spitefulmercy @im-bad-at-life Guys, honestly I think it's okay that someone relate to the struggles of an aspec. That's why we are in the the same community; because we experience similarly. We are banding together to show the rest of the world that there is nothing wrong with us and we all deserve respect. I heard no mal-intent in the prospect of bisexuals relating to this. It just goes to show how similar we are.
Asexual Agenda Item #018: Becoming ACEtronauts.
Is bad that I actually was an astronaut for Halloween years before I knew I was aspec. Is this a sign from God?
Never judge a book by it’s cover unless it’s a book, since professionals get paid to make good covers that is relevant to the book’s content.
the Ace inclusionist’s arguments, debunked!
This is sort of a sequel to a post i made a few weeks ago, where i said that asexuality doesn’t inherently make you LGBT, and that cishet asexuals do not belong in the LGBT community. Since then i’ve scrolled through the ace discourse tag for a long while and found some arguments that ace inclusionists try to pull. I’m here today to prove all of these arguments false!
1) Asexuals can’t be heterosexual since they’re asexual!
While it is true that asexuals can’t be heterosexual since they experience a lack of attraction, asexuals can be heteromantic. Heteromantic means being romantically (not sexually) attracted to solely the opposite gender. So, when someone talks about cishet asexuals, they’re talking about cisgender, heteromantic asexuals. Likewise, when someone talks about cishet aros, they’re talking about cisgender heterosexual aromantics.
(As for aromamtic asexuals, that is still up for debate and i don’t yet have an opinion on it.)
2) Asexuals are oppressed because exclusionnists oppress them!!
Exclusionists don’t oppress asexuals. Nowadays the term “oppression” is being thrown around everywhere even when there isn’t any actual oppression. Being told that you aren’t LGBT if you’re a cishet ace isn’t even remotely close to being oppression. Sure, it’s sorta insulting, but REAL oppression is being denied basic human rights because of your sexuality/race/gender/etc. I have never heard of somebody being denied any right because they don’t want to fuck.
3) Then what does the “A” in LGBTQIAPNGD+ stand for??
There’s no “A”. The actual acronym is just LGBT, or LGBTP (P for Pansexual, and Nonbinary falls into the Transgender umbrella.) The inclusion of the word q*eer is debatable, because of it’s origins as a slur. Anything beyond LGBT(P) is something that Tumblr users added themselves to make themselves feel included.
4) Cishet asexuals aren’t harming the community in any way shape or form!
They are, actually. The LGBT community was made as a safe haven for people with sga and transfolk, and it’s disheartening to see people who have nothing to do with the community try to pry themselves in. For example, i’m white, but you don’t see me trying to force myself in the POC community by saying stuff like “i have tan skin and dark hair so I’m basically a POC!!” It doesn’t work that way, at all! And doing that would be really disrespectful to actual POC, just like cishet asexuals/aspecs are disrespecting actual LGBT people by, basically, appropiating the community. Plus, they give the community a bad rep, a lot like tucutes give a bad rep to actual trans people.
5) The LGBT community isn’t just for people who experience same gender attraction and transfolk, it’s for any marginalized group!!!
Out of all the arguments I’ve heard from inclusionists, this one is the stupidest. The LGBT community is LITERALLY for people who either
a) experience same-gender attraction
b) are transgender
or
c) all of the above.
This is what the community was built on. While we’re at it with including all marginalized groups in the LGBT, why not put furries in with us? Kinksters? Otherkin? I mean, they’re as marginalized as asexuals, right?? Makes sense.
(By the way, i have nothing against furries/otherkin/kinksters, but y’all are obviously not inherently LGBT)
If you have any other bullshit arguments thrown around by inclusionists, feel free to reblog it :-)
Thanks for coming to my second TED talk, and once again, don’t @ me cishet aces/aspec.
@idonthaveanoriginalurl May I just ask, I don't understand why it is that you feel the aroace community is, shall I say, "mooching" off of the LGBTQ+ community. I believe that we are apart of the same community because we share a common goal: acceptance. We have all been deprived of it because of misunderstanding, sterotypes, religions, etc and all want the world to see that our sexualities and genders have no valid reason to be demeaned, ridiculed, and and deemed shameful. I, personally, fall under the asexual spectrum and am heterosexual cisgender. Honestly, I can understand why you would feel as though we are just trying to "get in on the action" and I cannot speak for everyone who identifies similarly however, I believed and claimed myself to be straight for years before I found about my sexuality. I didn't try and fake it to be here. I'm here because I identify with the sexuality. I'm not saying we can fully understand the weight of opression and agree with you on the light use of the term, however aspecs struggle with lack of acceptance as well and a lot of the time, myself included, when we tell people our identities, they either dismiss it saying you simply haven't met the right person or dismiss the existence of the sexuality at all or even don't know what it is and after receiving an explanation still dismiss it. On the community name, I honestly agree that the name is LGBTQ+ because I've always felt that the plus sign is there to showcase that there is more to this community than what meets the eye. I apologise if you truly believe me and those who identify similarly being in the community harms it but, we have no intention of doing so and anyone who did is clearly a case on its own and should be dealt with. Also, why do you feel that we should just form our own community? I've always felt separating the different orientations into their own groups will hurt us in our quest. How can we convince those outside of the community to accept us if we can't even agree to accept one another; and yes, the community was built off of people who identify as LGBT but, others want to join because we understand and agree with your message. We're not asking you to redesign the whole thing. We just wish you would put down your weapons and let us help you so we can make there together.
