GISHWHES GiveLoveToday Nomination

I don’t really know anyone on Tumblr who I can nominate so this isn’t that, instead I’m going to say that @mishacollins deserves everything the world has to give.

I know this isn't what you want from this, but he is such an amazing person and changing G.I.S.H.W.H.E.S from the typical crazy, silly fun it normally is into something to show love and appreciation for your friends because of the Orlando tragedy is further proof of that. And I hope that you will consider reading this to see what I have to say.

@mishacollins is a gift that this world does not deserve nor appreciates enough and we all know that he doesn’t see how much of an effect he has on us, his fans, so I thought I’d tell him myself.

@mishacollins I will admit to you here and now that I had never heard of you before I began watching Supernatural and my descent into the world of monsters and hunter, Angels and Demons, Heaven and Hell was not exactly a willing one.

Having a friend who was obsessed with the show, it was inevitable that I would eventually watch it myself and eventually I did.

I quickly fell in love with the characters and found myself, at first relating to Dean, the broken boy who no one really understood.

When came along an angel who I found I was even more alike. An angel who had no idea what was happening in the world around him and was loyal despite all the shit his friends put him through (excuse my language).

I thought then that it couldn’t possibly get anymore real than that, and then I was introduced to the man behind the Angel, you @mishacollins aka Dmitri Tippens Krushnic and I found that not only was your character a literal Angel, but that you were too.

Since then, I have found comfort in the fact that there are people as amazing as you in the world, people behind GISHWHE and RandomActs and You Are Not Alone. And you have changed my life.

Knowing that you are out there, that you genuinely care about each and every one of us who hold you so high has given me a way to fight against my inner demons, just as Castiel has had to fight to be who he is now.

I don’t know if you’ll actually get to here or if you’ll have skipped over this nomination when you realised it was to you, but if you are here, if you have read this… I just wanted to say thank you.

Thank you for being so amazing and for giving me a reason to keep fighting and for helping me realise that I am not alone.

Thank you.

A change of plans.

In light of the recent events in Orlando, I’ve ended the #GishwhesTakesTumblr hunt early. It’s a bad day for games. We still have lots of prizes to give away and donations to make to charities, but we’re going to distribute them in a different way.

Instead of a game, we are going to let you give the remaining prizes away to people who have made a difference in your life. From now until 4pm PDT, today (Sunday), I’m inviting you to nominate someone you know who has had a profound and positive impact on in your life to receive one of our remaining prizes. (We still have show props, signed scripts iPods, lots of stuff.)

This isn’t just another shooting. 

This is now officially, with over 50 casualties, the worst mass shooting in United States history. And the fact that it took place at a gay club was not merely coincidence. This was not just another act of senseless violence in America. This was a hate crime. 

A man walked into a safe space for the LGBT community with an assault rifle and lined them up and slaughtered them. 

Don’t do what the media is inevitably going to do. Don’t erase where this happened and who this happened to.

When you make your statements for/against gun control, remember this was a hate crime. When you make your statements about the gunman’s reported religious beliefs, remember this was a hate crime. When your politicians make empty promises about changing the way things are, remember this was a hate crime. When you make your statements about the media’s coverage of this, remind everyone this was hate crime. 

Do not gloss over the identities of the victims. They were killed for them. This was a hate crime. 

update: the father of the shooter confirms that the shooting was likely motivated by homophobia.  as if there was any doubt. But at least straight people can’t ignore that.
