Yeah you're right. It WOULD be pretty fucked up if you were a swan but you were raised by ducks and you grew up never seeing another swan or even knowing that such a thing as a swan even existed so you just thought you were a duck with something super wrong with it.

a little more information regarding the maui wildfires:
hotels are still operating. hotels are still operating. they are not the ones offering shelters or housing or food. even bowling alleys are offering shelter, but hotels have the audacity to build on burial sites but not open their doors to local families who have lost everything.

Hey if you work for a major company that you fucking hate, but they also have a Diversity, Inclusion, Culture Department… check if they offer donation matching.
Your $10 donation can turn into $20
Your $50 donation can turn into $100
I completely forgot until an org put it at the bottom.
I hope this is okay to ask but I’m pretty desperate and googling stuff has failed me, so do you or one of your followers have recommendations on how to deal with the BO that comes with taking testosterone? I never had BO that couldn’t just be managed by showering enough and putting on just any deodorant but now that I’m taking T I sweat a lot and I smell bad and I nothing I do seems to fix it. My boss has politely mentioned it several times now despite all my effort and it’s so mortifying and embarrassing.
Things I’ve tried and am currently doing include so many different deodorants which I bring to work and reapply, putting baking powder in my shoes, on top of general basic hygiene. But none of it seems to make a dent and it doesn’t help that I can’t really change clothes or shoes throughout the day. I have to wear closed toed shoes and a lab coat and my job is pretty active, plus it’s 10 minutes walk from the parking lot and it’s over 100F or 40 C right now so when I arrive at work I’m already pouring sweat. I also have a large chest so it all gets under my bra and soaks into it and by the end of the day the bottom part of my bra reeks.
I know some ocasional BO on a busy day can’t be helped but none of the other people at work including other male coworkers seem to have the same issue at all, so there’s got to be a solution but I haven’t found it. Im thinking of trying antiperspirants but I also know I need to sweat and I would rather not put my health at risk. So if anyone has something that works for them please let me know bc im really desperate here.
First I want to say: you're not doing anything wrong. You probably just sweat more than some other folks, and that's not your fault, and you shouldn't feel bad about it. I'm gonna give you some ideas to try if you haven't yet, but I don't know how much you've already tried, and it sounds like you've been through a lot already.
I also have always had terrible BO, and the only thing that helped at all pre-T was "prescription strength" deodorant. I honestly have had less of an issue since starting T, weirdly enough, but part of that is also that I physically cannot stand to shower any less frequently than every single morning (not necessarily a good thing lol), and I also started using antibacterial products on my armpits when I shower.
Currently I use benzoyl peroxide body wash on my armpits, which can be drying, but it hasn't caused me issues so far (just look for Panoxyl, other brands have caused irritation for me and my partner both). I used Betadine surgical scrub before that for a bit (you collect weird shit when you work with horses 🤷♂️) and that worked well, too- plus it's less likely to irritate skin.
I also find that certain shirts cause me to sweat there more, and those also tend to be the more form-fitting shirts that get up into my armpits. That skin def needs to breathe.
My partner has had trouble with feet/shoes in the past, and he's used cedar shoeforms to mitigate that (cedar is also antibacterial!). He also makes sure any shoes he gets are breathable (not leather), and if they are leather, he gives them at least a day or two between wears. Probably good practice if you notice any kind of smell on any of your shoes.
You mention baking powder, and I'm not sure if you meant baking soda and just mixed them up (which I do all the time lmao) but just in case: if you are using baking powder, the one you want is baking soda.
I don't have much advice for chest sweat, except that you may want to consider bringing an extra bra (and maybe an extra pair of socks if you're noticing it before the end of the day) to change into midway through the day. You can also look for more breathable fabrics in general, especially athletic-wear, which is already designed to help wick sweat and mitigate those issues.
Lastly, I want to stress again that you're not doing anything wrong. Some people have more trouble with this than others, and if you're really struggling in a way nobody around you is, it may be that you've got something going on in your body that they don't have to deal with. This could be a medical thing as well (like acne!!), and there's no shame in seeking medical solutions for it. Talk to your doctor if you can; it sounds like it's causing you distress, and you deserve to be comfortable.
Ohh yeah, re: the laundry stuff, that lingering BO is in the oils your body produces that stick in the fabric (same goes for bedsheets and stuff).
Good to know pet products work- you can also wash according to these directions with dish soap, laundry detergent, and vinegar (plus borax if you have it). If you've got bedclothes that are kinda discolored where your body normally goes, this is the way to fix that.
Also, be sure to wash with warm water; cool water saves energy, but your deoderant and body oils will stay in the fabric without the warm water to loosen and dissolve them.
Thank you so much for the pet odour laundry product suggestion! Depression sucks and executive dysfunction sucks and my BO is lingering on clothing after laundry loads. Now I have something to try!
Laundry stripping is useful for getting lingering stink out of cloth, too.
Take equal parts:
I mix up about 6c at a time and keep it in a ziploc or plastic tub. What I linked above will last me a year or more. I use about a half cup to a cup of this mix per large utility sink full of clothes and water.
Mix the powder mix into hot water as the sink fills, then start putting clothes in. PLEASE SORT YOUR DARKS AND LIGHTS. You can make your white clothes look dingy this way.
I don't like the way the soap mix makes my hands feel so I have huge long gloves, but it won't hurt you to touch it.
Once the sink is nearly full, stick your hands in and kind of turn everything over so that you are sure everything is soaking really well, and there aren't any pockets of dryness in there.
Let it sit for at least twelve hours. I try to leave things for a full day. When you come back, the water will S T I N K and will be horrible shades of grey and black. It's okay!
Drain the water, squish as much water out as you can, and be careful if you spill water on the floor. The soap can make things really slippery, especially on tile or concrete.
Put the laundry in the washer. Run a spin-only cycle in order to get as much of the gross water out as possible. If it was really grody, I will do a warm rinse/spin cycle. Finish up with a regular wash cycle with your regular detergent, warm water, and I like an extra rinse bc I really don't like soap left on my clothes and it's been soaking for a while.
Before you put your clothes in the dryer, check for stains and do a regular pre-treat and wash on those items bc laundry stripping can take the general grime out enough that stains actually show.
I do this more frequently for things I sweat on a lot. Since I started doing my blankets and sheets about once a month, they are much more pleasant, bc I sweat at night more since I started T. But everything else just... when it's gross, or once a season, whichever is more frequent.
Also in between laundry stripping, it helps to use a laundry sanitizer, particularly those labeled "sport." It's a liquid additive that you use with your regular laundry detergent and it's designed to clear out all the embedded bacteria that amplify BO when you get your clothes sweaty.

Basic rules for analysing fiction, an incomprehensive list jotted down in a hurry:
One more:
12. The antagonist isn’t always telling the truth
So many times I have seen people apparently just … forget that it’s possible for fictional characters to be (a) mistaken or (b) lying, and say things like “we know this to be true because [character] said so here” (or, worse, “this fact is canon because [character] said it”).
The antagonist isn’t always telling the truth, the protagonist isn’t always telling the truth, the secondary and minor characters aren’t always telling the truth, the narrator may be telling the truth but if the narrator is also a character in the story then don’t count on it.
You know. Some people could really stand to get more comfortable with the idea of “you shouldn’t say that because it’s mean”. Especially with really common body shaming and straight up bullying lines.
“You shouldn’t make ugly bald jokes because what if a transman on T sees it!”
“You shouldn’t make virgin jokes because what if someone who’s asexual sees it!”
How about you just don’t make them because they’re mean. How about people can be balding or a virgin for a number of reasons and also don’t deserve to be routinely made fun of. How about saying that the reason you shouldn’t make x joke because it spares x specific identity’s feelings also let’s them know that you actually have no problem saying or thinking bald people are ugly or virgins are stupid or etc but you’re just not saying it in front of them. How about you understand this kind of body shaming and bullying especially in a very public setting online are always going to have way more unintended damage to people who did nothing wrong than damage to the person you’re upset with.
Sometimes the best reason to not make a bad joke like that is because it’s fucking mean.

I think it needs to become common knowledge that "inability to read social cues" can show up as overcompensating.
You don't know how much misbehaviour is allowed, so you become the perfect child who never tests rules.
You don't know if someone is irritated with you, so you'll be extra generous and self-effacing.
You don't know how much is expected of you at work so you'll kill yourself in a minimum-wage job and not notice that nobody else is working like this.
"Hardworking and quiet" should be as much of an autism red flag as "ignores rules and doesn't know when to stop talking". Or why don't we just start using words to communicate so i can stop tracking everybody's eyebrow twitches, that would be great.
I just had a discussion with my friend about fanfiction and how we tend to assume that women are the writers without any actual proof. Then I said, hey, I know fanfiction written by gay and trans dudes. But then I remembered, wait, I think I know one writer who just must be cis het based on his work. Anyway, all writers, be honest, who are you?
