VirgataGirl finishes her 5 week A&P I course tomorrow. She has 3 exams - two lecture and one lab - then she’ll join her brother at camp for the rest of the summer.
She and my husband were going over her notecards again just now and they got to F-actin. And he said “Hey, do you know what F-actin makes?”
And she said “No, is that on the notecard?”
And he said “No. But it’s microfilaments. About 25 years ago I helped your mother study F-actin in HER anatomy class and she always forgot that. But it just stuck in my head I guess, going over it so many times. I still don’t know what a microfilament is, but anyway.”

Thanks anon! Waters of Babylon and Petrichor were both written as standalones but this ended up being a great way to bundle them together in a little series.

I traditionally get a little extra for my family’s birthday cakes. Wanted to share VirgataGirl’s requested cake with those of you who enjoy baking - raspberry rose cake from Sugar Geek show.
Note: I did 2 8-inch layers rather than 3 6-inch
A quick check of Gossamer shows my first fic was archived on 3/31/08. VirgataGirl was 3.5 years old, VirgataBoy had just turned 2. I had been in fandom over a decade at that point, since the atxf days, but only just started writing.
Today my daughter turns 19 and I’m on the front porch editing a fic. The more things change…
