Woah Hi I Art

@alltheusernamesaretaken24

I ramble uncontrollably and will hurl my thoughts into the void at full speed. My actual real face is my profile picture. I am totally serious. This is not just a rat I found on google. That is what my face looks like.

In honor of vulture awareness day, let me ask you a question.

Do you love vultures?

You should.

Here’s why:

1, They are simultaneously the most majestic, and the most f*cking derpy of birbs. Observe -

image

2. THEY’RE SO FUCKING BADASS. We all know that they eat dead things. Eww, right? Wrong. They’re capable of digesting fucking rabies, cholera, hundreds of strains of bacteria that would straight up kill your ass given the chance. They deserve ALL of the respect, but they don’t get any, because ‘eww they eat dead things’.

3. THEY ARE FUCKING AMAZING AT WHAT THEY DO - Some of the highest flying birds ever recorded, with amazing eyesight and smell. Vultures are highly specialised - yes, that means they sometimes have bald heads. So what? People are all over sphinx cats and those semi-hairless dogs.

4. If you think they’re ugly, well, look at these precious babs and tell me you still don’t feel anything:

I have more reasons, but, look, I’ll just get straight to the point:

THEY’RE GOING EXTINCT, AND MORE PEOPLE NEED TO KNOW.

Populations of some vultures have fallen more than 90% in the last 20 years, and that’s scary as fuck. Reasons for this range from livestock carcasses being contaminated with certain drugs, to poachers killing them off because vultures give them away. But whatever the reasons, they’re dying off fast, and we need to act before it’s too late. We need to help protect them and conserve them as much if not more than some of the ‘cuter’ endangered creatures.

So what can you do? Here are some useful links if you want to learn more:

Please consider helping our seldom appreciated vulture buddies, either by donating, or even just by helping to change their bad reputation!!

They really are amazing birds ~ thank you for sticking with my long-ass post

:P

IT’S THAT TIME OF YEAR AGAIN, PALS!!!!

in the last year, I’ve visited several bird of prey specialist centres, many of which are now actively championing the plight of our vulture friends - trying hard to endear them to the public and supporting/ participating in overseas causes that help in various ways. One of these places was the Hawk Conservancy Trust which, if you’re in the UK, I HIGHLY recommend - both for the quality of the centre and the displays they run, and for the extensive conservation work they do at home and overseas!

Anyway, enough talk. It’s time to appreciate this sleepy boy.

But you forgot my most favorite of all!! The Bearded Vulture (Lammergeier or Ossifrage)!!!

I once had a neighbor who was thoroughly convinced their indoor/outdoor cat never strayed further than a couple houses around. As proof, she put a GPS tracker and little camera on her cat. 24 hours later she had the proof she didn't want. Her cat went as far as a mile away, into the nearby woods where their were coyotes and other predators that would a snack of her cat. Her cat crossed the interstate several times, went to a construction site, and various other places that had me surprised her cat was still alive.

The following week was full of them building a catio and enriching their home. The cat became an indoor cat and chilled out very happily in the catio. They spent the summer harness and leash training their cat as well.

Oh, and the cat killed over a dozen birds and didn't eat any of them in the single day my owner tracked them with the camera and GPS. They had been going out daily for over a year. Imagine a cat killing 12 birds a day, everyday, for just a year. That devastates the local bird population and leads to the extinction of entire species.

Enrich your home, install a catio, get a few cat trees/towers, play with your cat, and they'll live long healthy lives. No worries about some random person killing them with poison or shooting them, no worries about them getting hit by a car, no worries about destroying the local ecosystem. My cats are 17 and 15 years old, 100% indoors their entire lives, and they're happy.

Oh and since avian flu aka bird flu is spreading, please remember that it kills animals that eat the contaminated meat. That means if a cat kills an infected bird and eats it, they will get sick and die.

Reblog if You'd watch a Megamind 2 Movie

So basically like the title says I want to know if there’s anyone who’d want another megamind movie. So please just reblog, because I’m just curious as to see how many people actually would want to see that.

Original was underrated as hell.

just saw a post where someone put “detrans dni” and like… hey we should be supporting detransitioned people bc if we don’t terfs will

sometimes you’re wrong about your identity and that’s ok like i used to think i was bi but it turns out i was wrong and i know ppl who thought they were trans but it turns out they were wrong and it should be ok and accepted that sometimes people don’t get it right on the first try

@gothhowl yeah… trial and error is an amazing way of putting it

I’m not sure if you’ve tried it before or not but you said you wanted to learn bookbinding and I would 10/10 recommend https://youtu.be/9O4kFTOEh6k this video!! I found it easy to follow so hopefully you do too!!

Ahhhhh this is the exact video I was using too XD It really is super straightforward and easy to follow, so excellent recommendation. Have you bound your own books before? I'd love to see them if you have (only if you're comfortable sharing ofc)

Oh that’s awesome!! It really is a wonderful video!

I’ve bound a few!! My most recent one was a little pocket sized tarot reading guide for my friend, so they can do readings without having to search it up :D I’ll see if I have some decent pictures:

Answer: no decent pictures 🤣 these are the best ones I could find, and none are of the finished thing kandksns! This is the first book I made a complete cover for too, which was exciting! 10/10 would recommend binding a book for the hell of it, I have so many little notebooks now that I don’t know what to do with

[a series of images from an interview with Tove Jansson, who sketches the character Snufkin as she speaks. the captions show the English subtitles: “He’s… a bit soft and sloppy, and he’s looking for new paths to walk. He actually likes landscapes more than people, which of course means that he’s not always very nice to his friends, but they forgive him. It’s quite easy to forgive a Snufkin. Yes, I like him.]
