I've been sitting on this for a while. DAMMED has been in overclocked mode getting some things ready for a new arch, so we're finishing up the last before we refine a couple things and add some new stuff. The mysterious main villains for this arc were Antony and Cue which is a pair I wish I'd gotten to explore a bit more, rest their souls. But I really like the way this piece came out anyways. So last month's (September) fan poster request was for Baten Kaitos, a game I'd never actually played. Whether one Patreon or 100 vote for it I'd already dedicated myself to doing my very best on these SO I WATCHED THE WHOLE THING PLAYED THROUGH and I thought I might give my thoughts on it. First there was a couple things I hated. If you're new to playing or watching it you're gonna discover fast the voice acting is horrible (for english anyways). Like the actor's were never told the context for what they were saying and the sound booth couldn't handle loud volume so they did the 'yelling but not yelling' high pitched thing people do when they're telling a dramatic story. The second bad thing is just Xelha. Like I'm all for characters falling into a stereotype. Not only is in inevitable but it's a quick way to let people know what a character is like without going into years of getting to know them. But as a main character her 'sweet heroine' one is really flat without any other traits to support her as a person, and they focus on her too much to be flat. She's also the source of one of those 'sad moments' made entirely pointless moments later through deus ex whale. But I think that those are really it for it's bad points. I can't speak for gameplay but story wise I feel like it's held up really well. It has an interesting theme on the cost of revenge and the value of forgiveness, and it's other main characters I think are interesting. Particularly it's protagonist which is really nice since protagonists tend to be one of the more boring characters compared to their co-stars. The Great Mizuti is however still the best, having a charming personality I would enjoy untouched if the game was redone today. The feel of it is very final fantasy-esque, and maybe for some a little convoluted? though this didn't bother me and I understood it by the end. I'm left kind of hoping the game gets redone properly to give it an extra chance I think it deserves.  I'd definitely buy it. Anyways that's just my take. Tell me what you think! As for the piece, the characters are all very colorful themselves so I wanted to do something with a lot of color on it. I ended up putting in fewer characters then I first wanted but I felt like having the 'leaders' in there somewhere would make the piece too cluttered.
