don’t know if you’ve talked about it yet but have you listened to jade’s new album?? I really like it, but I always enjoy hearing your thoughts about music so I figured I’d ask
i did talk about it very briefly, i listened to it before i left on vacation and loved it but haven’t had the time to listen to it since!
I would be more likely to go to her silly little movie if I had at least one legit single or even legit poem. This is why Swifties are sucker's, buying and going to movie events about a thing you're not even sure you'll sorta like. I fear Showgirl will be controversial and unsatisfying except for the most diehard.
the thing is they won’t allow themselves not to like something she does. the loudest swifties and/or the ones who will give her their money at the drop of a hat (the “she’s not forcing fans to buy her stuff” or “other artists do it so it’s fine” crowd), will force themselves to like it and they will defend it at every turn… it’s wild.
i looked at tickets for the “showgirl party” but like…nah man. even if i wasn’t disillusioned by taylor, even if this was back when i loved her, i’d have a really hard time paying for this when it’s supposed to be free. seeing it on the big screen would be cool, i’m not pretending it wouldn’t be, but it’s not worth that money for what it is. and definitely i wouldn’t pay for it now, i already sorta dislike that i give in and buy her albums but i’m allowed to find joy in music even when it’s made by a problematic person.
the money grabs are so much worse than they’ve ever been. locking content behind an itunes preorder (NOBODY buys music from itunes, people do use apple music and stream but literally no one is actually buying from there) is also a wild choice.
i just saw it’s reported she’s gonna thing in $30-50 million opening weekend alone from her fans with content that other artists give for free… it’s truly insane how normal people think this is 😭
Holy shit i thought she was 19-20 when she was with the kennedy kid... i liked her music back then but like a prev anon said, i didnt get into her life lore till rep a bit and then more with lover and folklore so id heard about her short relationship with him and that it was while he was graduating high school but it's wild to read she was 23 (im turning 23 so that puts it really into perspective for me)... idk what happened but i had understood she was barely entering the 20s and assumed it was before john mayer (which still would've been a... choice... considering she was out of high school and a popstar but it's better than 23)
yeah it’s one of those things that’s swifties just do not speak about because it makes her look bad.

i think this look is simple and nice, i like that she’s carrying the orange color of the album visuals into the “promo” (for lack of a better word) with that shirt. the only thing im kidding of confused about is the high socks, the cool toned green doesn’t match that warm toned orange, plus it’s just an unnecessary color to add in. also i just think high socks don’t work with this look. but other than that its fine, id say this is a 7/10.
The movie in my country will come out later than oct 3rd but that actually puts it right around my bday, i also got to see the eras tour movie on my bday and it was so fun! Went with a friend and everyone was dancing and singing so im excited to repeat that! Especially considering this time the ticket's a regular price lol. But im not gonna lie, if it werent aroubd my bday... considering she'll probably post the stuff online on oct 3rd anyway (and that theyll probably only show it in this one movie theatre that's not the closest to me)... id probably pass. A concert movie is one thing, putting lyric videos (which are usually just a gif on loop) + a few talkative moments here and there... is another. But again, it's a regular price and around my bday so most of me's excited as of rn! Btw i also just realised i dont think she's giving out a free poster this time (or at least i havent seen it written anywhere so far) and i do find that funny like girl... is the recession hitting u too lmaooo.
yea the tour movie was definitely entirely different because that was new content (but then her releasing multiple versions of it… girl) but you know you do whatever makes you happy on your bday bestie
I actually didn't get the idea she's explaining all the songs in the album. I think that was an assumption made by Variety. But if I'm not mistaken what she said was explaining the Ophelia song specifically and like the making off of music video in detail. So the lyric videos for all songs, the music video and then BTS and making off of said music video. It does feel not much since the movie is supposed to be 89 minutes, so idk. Regardless, this type of content is not a movie by itself and apart from the music video which I guess could look nice in a theater screen, literally nothing is worth beyond that.
honestly maybe you’re right, she specifically said “the music video for my new single “The Fate of Ophelia”, along with never before seen behind-the-scenes footage of how we made it, cut by cut explanations of what inspired this music, and the brand new lyric videos from my new album” so it could be either or… if she’s really making fans pay money for her to explain 1 song… that’s absolutely insane to me.
