i don't think people realize the state of our world. well. maybe they do, but they don't think deeply on how unnecessary and destructive it all is.
we produce things - food, entertainment, even lives - which we immediately discard. i mean this very literally. people do in fact do this with children.
some people lack so much self awareness that they don't really think about what it means to bring a child into this world. somehow they've forgotten how shitty it was for them. somehow they've forgotten how hard it was for their parents. or how our world has gotten progressively worse.
the climate crisis has reached a tipping point. our governments have not as been as useful as they could be. our technology is mostly used for nonsense and not furthering humankind/the planet.
we could be so much more.
ofc i am a disabled trans man of color. i work to make a living. i have not been lucky enough to be born into a wealthy family. or even a family that is particularly loving, if i'm being honest.
but i have been blessed in other ways. just as i have been cursed in other ways. some of them are connected. like my intelligence is a blessing and curse. as is my physical beauty. as is my awareness of these matters. my calling too.. to be involved in the spiritual world and cultivation..
many people before me have seen ways to end capitalism. even now we have those solutions.
i can't imagine advanced aliens live the way we do. that they use their technology to destroy and take. to subvert their own kind.
but maybe in their past they were like that.

"Children cannot consent" means that due to the power imbalance between adults and children, it's not possible for certain actions to happen without coercion of some kind. This is especially true if the adult has something to gain from the interaction or if the child has to imitate adulthood for the interaction to happen.
It doesn't mean that what children want should be ignored. It doesn't mean that normalcy should be forced on children and that deviating from the norm must wait until adulthood. It doesn't mean that adults should have unlimited authority and children should be powerless against them.

an issue people like to point to in a lot of public discourse is that many people have never been given the tools to evaluate the reliability of information---this goes for scientific studies, news reports, information disseminated by doctors or think tanks, &c.
liberal efforts to combat this problem tend to start and end at advice to "find and listen to a trusted authority"---by which they mean, someone with a professional and/or academic credential. the obvious problem with this strategy is that many credentialed people are also full of shit, and credential-granting institutions themselves have ideological purposes and ends. that is, an md or a phd or any other expert certification is not value-neutral or apolitical. teaching people to defer to authorities and experts is not the solution here.
the secondary liberal response, if you can walk them up to this point, tends to start and end with "teach people how to evaluate which experts are trustworthy"---but of course, in the liberal imagination this education must always and only take place under the aegis of a suitably credentialed and officially approved institution. it's like an endless redux: "ok, this particular authority might be bad and propagandistic actually---let's find the correct authority to fix that!"
as long as you're not giving people the tools to evaluate, engage with, and challenge expertise themselves, all you're doing is continuing to replicate the same power structures but with different faces swapped in as the source from which the ultimate epistemological authority emanates.
a lot of responses to family abolition boil down to "who will have power over children, then, if not the family" -- when of course family abolitionists do not seek the creation of new power structures at all! i think children should be able to access all of their needs of subsistence, for free, unconditionally, on their own -- freeing them from the economic dependence that creates the power structure known as "the family."

They shouldn't be blanket exterminated because of this. Not to mention the fact that they are important. They are pollinators, food for other animals, but even if they weren't, even if they just did nothing, that wouldn't mean they shouldn't be allowed to exist. What gives you the authority to decide that, huh? Why are you so special?
This goes for humans too, by the way. Why must a person contribute or work or whatever to be worthy of being loved and supported? They're alive, and therefore have inherent value. If you think that isn't enough, then you are the problem. Have some god damn compassion, or failing that, just keep quiet.
