“oh i don’t wanna say anything because i’m not educated properly on the matter” then educate urself ???!!? it’s not hard to find resources and articles online about what’s happening in palestine. stop being ignorant. stop posting about your favs for a few minutes and educate yourselves. it’s not hard.

here’s a website you can learn more about what’s happening. it was made by palestinians and debunks myths and answers a lot of faq’s.

keep up to date with everything (twitter is sharing a lot resources and information) but there are other ways in which you can stay educate on the matter to help out as much as possible.

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

these are just SOME of the threads/websites i have seen on ways to help + educative material. if anyone has more informative websites/other threads please just add them in the reblogs!

edit: that first paragraph was just to people who are in a position to educate themselves - please know if you’re in a position you can’t say anything/do anything that’s also understandable and valid.

I just saw a story on AO3 tagged "pet p!ay"

TIK TOK MUST BE STOPPED BEFORE IT DESTROYS LANGUAGE

Ok, unless something's going on I'm not aware of (extremely likely), I gotta point out the term "Pet Play" is significantly older than Tik Tok, or most of its userbase for that matter.

Yeah, I'm not mad about using the term "pet play". That's a perfectly fine term. I'm mad because they didn't use that term: they used "pet p!ay", a censored version

Oh. Oh gawd I missed that. Objection withdrawn, that is objectively terrible.

To anybody who is new to posting on ao3, if you’re using a tag you have to use the correct spelling of that tag. People aren’t going to type in every version of a censored word to hide or look for your content

For everyone new to tumblr, the same rule applies to tumblr too.

You cannot censor your tags! Censored tags cannot be block or filtered. Censoring tags HARMS your audience, it does not protect them

Tragedy! You set out to read a negative review of a piece of media you dislike, only to find that the critic is being completely unfair to it and making a bunch of bad, unsupportable arguments.

like. are white queers even aware that Black queers who aren’t Marsha P. Johnson exist?

Do they know more Black queers have been born since then? Do they know that people are pretty chill with studs’ masculinity in Black spaces and it’s mostly a casual thing? Do they know that the whole “Black people are homophobic” stereotype is way more complicated and nuanced than they think, and way less accurate than they assume (and also their fault because widespread homophobia is some colonizer bullshit)?

Do they know intersectionality is an internal experience as well as an external one? Do they know femmes can have short hair and mascs can have long hair without it being gnc because that’s not how Black genders are perceived? Do they know what a gnc Black woman really looks like, or do they just assume all Black women are a little masculine? Do they know visibly queer Black people in the US have to worry about what will happen and how they’ll be perceived when they get pulled over? Do they know my Blackness is a huge part of both my gender and sexuality, and stud was the main term I used for both for a long time?

Do they know how many Black queers feel excluded from the queer community because white queers don’t care to learn? Do they know how many times we’ve tried to tell them about our cultures and identities just to be ignored? Do they know they’ve stolen almost all of their “gay slang” from Black people and call it ghetto when we do it but cool and trendy when they do it? Do they know we all used butch once, but then they decided Black people couldn’t anymore, then they tried to take stud from us too? Do they care that they have repeatedly tried to gentrify us out of our own language? Do they know not all studs are ok with being grouped in with butches, and some even resent it because butches are always the default and no one talks about studs?

Do they know anything about us?

(white people can rb but think before you speak)

Everytime I see posts like this I get filled with such profound sadness

Cause you know who has the same brainrot as you? The same unhinged feelings as you after you've read the fic? The person who always wants to scream about the fic with you?

THE PERSON WHO WROTE IT

I never used to leave comments but since I got into the habit of commenting on everything i enjoy it's been incredible. Especially when the author gets back to me about it and we get to have a discussion of what other ideas they had. One writer replied to my comment with a 5 paragraph essay detailing the Floorplan of the building the characters lived in and it was incredible

Anyways this is all to say that if you find a fic that just makes you want to scream from the rooftops, leave a comment saying that to the author and maybe they will join you and you can scream incoherently together

to all of my dear ao3 authors: if you are insecure about the hits to kudos/bookmarks/comments ratio, you are interpreting them wrong. notice how on social media, you usually can't see how many people viewed your textpost? on ao3 you can, because it's not a silly shower thought. it's literature. you are writing a piece of art and publishing it; and if it got 300 hits and 50 kudos, that means 300 people bought your book and 50 of them bothered to go leave a review with a thumbs up on the shop's website. it doesn't matter that only 50 people did that: what matters is that 300 got so interested that they read your work, invested their time and energy into it, and, even if they didn't leave a kudos, even if they didn't get to the end, you probably managed to get your message across and a memory of your work is now in their head. isn't that the point of writing? leaving something in people's thoughts. you are doing a great job just by creating something, remember.

but to my dear ao3 readers: do leave kudos when you like something. it's the nice thing to do.

Is reality what makes a Jedi abandon his ideals?

Or is it simply a response to political convenience?
