I sorta new to the fandom, but I do recognize the show sorta well. And as I was looking through the wiki page for the show. I found out a few interesting things about Mika's page(him and Ferid specifically). And it confuses me how not a lot of people talk about how Ferid smacked Mika's butt. So is this true? Because I have spent the last few days screaming about this.

Lol yes, on the manga

you have no idea of how much I hate this single panel because I always think of those fics where Ferid rapes Mika and this comes to my mind and I think wHAT IF IT HAPPENED IN CANON TOOO

Tbh both this panel and THIS

both upset me lots

I kinda expected the sensitive topic of Ferid to crop up here so LET ME EXPLAIN:

Ferid is supposed to make people uncomfortable. BUT, he’s not a paedophile or a pervert, ect. The main aspect of his character, (I was going to say “appeal” but bear with me) is the shock factor he gives off. As Kagami-sensei has said about him before, Ferid loves the attention of others and especially loves making them uncomfortable. He’s a complex person.

The wiki page explains it quite well. “He likes to risk having all of his plans ruined just so that he may feel some emotion.” Basically, he gets a kick out of others’ reactions and feeling emotion for himself.

But yes, you may bring up the fact he kept a harem of scantily-clad child slaves in the light novels (I’m not sure which specific volume but it was one of the Michaela volumes) BUUUT, even then it was just for the reactions of others. Since vampires eventually lose their sexual desires, why would he want to keep them?

In short, I think that Ferid is just craving human emotion, but that does not mean I’m forgiving of him. I just appreciate how unpredictable and complex he was written.

Just to throw in my two cents here. I think Ferid is a perfect example of a villain who can be evil just for the sake of being evil, which I personally feel we don’t have enough of in Owari no Seraph, or really in manga/anime in general.

If you take a look at the rest of the cast, we have villains fighting for all sorts of reasons. We have Crowley, who is simply fighting because he’s lost his faith in god and feels like he’s lost his meaning in life. Then we have Guren who’s fighting out of regret for losing the woman he loved and starting the whole apocalypse in the first place. Then Krul who’s fighting for reasons unknown, but whatever it is, it’s not for the sake of just being evil. That much we know for sure. Then we have the rest of the vampires who really, are either only fighting because they are ordered to, or because they feel that if they rid the world of humans, the world will be a much better place in the end.

But Ferid, Ferid really is just doing all this for the enjoyment of it all. He’s lived for so long, that living without conflict in the world is just too boring for him. Every character, no matter who it is, is either afraid of the guy, or just can’t really tell what the guy is thinking. Hell, Ferid may not even know why he’s doing all this himself, and I love him for it.

As for Ferid being a rapist, I’m don’t want to say that Mika was raped or anything in those 4 years that he was with Ferid, but the way Ferid’s character is made out to be, I would be more surprised if something didn’t happen at some point. After all, This wouldn’t be the first time Ferid has done anything to Mika. Let’s not forget that while Mika was just 12 y/o and living in Sanguinem, he was already going to Ferid’s mansion in the middle of the night to offer his blood, which was a clear illusion to prostitution. And whatever it was, they made it very clear that it was enough to scar him emotionally. This is evident by the scenes of Mika and Yuu’s pasts where Mika is shown crying as he would think about what he had to go through the previous nights.

Many characters in the series even judge Ferid for doing this on a regular basis reminding him that it’s both illegal and just plain wrong. At one point Ferid even offers Mika’s body to Crowley, which Crowley refuses. Good guy Crowley

but again, many things just can’t be shown in a series like this even if the creator wanted to put it in simply because this is a shonen series targeted towards young boys and girls. Most of the stuff in this post, like rape and prostitution are already in the novels, due to the fact that the novels are targeted towards an older audience. At most, we’ll only ever get things that are clear illusions to those kind of acts which is usually blood sucking

First off, hi Hajimama! I just wanted to say that I love your work and it's one of the only things that keeps me going every month. Second, I was just wondering something... if the characters had cell phones what would their ringtones be like? Thx :)

Reaction to Kagami's MikaYuu Response.

Let me get this straight: According to the author Yu and Mika are “just family” and he has no intentions of focusing on romance, in the series, “Owari no Seraph”. Now let me tell you why I think this is utter bullshit.

• Speaking in general, there’s so many romantic hints between the majority of the characters, there’s even multiple harems. For Kagami to say there’s no romance in OnS almost makes me think he doesn’t even read his own writing.

Now on to Mikaela and Yuichiro’s relationship.

• Near the beginning of the Manga Shinoa asks if Mika is Yu’s girlfriend and his response was not a simple “No” he instead says: “Are you concerned with our relationship?” And leaves it at that. • Yu is always thinking and talking about Mika • There was multiple times where Ferid has said questionable things to Mika like: “So this is love..” “Are you going to save your precious princess?” ETC. • Mika always blushes around Yu. • Mika always brings up the fact of wanting to run away with Yu, and still up to Chapter 47 he hasn’t given up. • All the physical contact and expressions is hard to ignore between the two, it’s not something just “family” would do, especially two guys. • Yu had no reaction to seeing Shinoa and Mitsuba practically naked. • Both openings of the Anime series had to do with love and confessing feelings. In the first Ending, it’s obvious the song is about how Mika feels. There is also a line that says: “It’s my fear of love and what’s dearest to us”. • The song “Insanity Love”, a soundtrack in the Owari no Seraph CD was claimed to be put there “just because” and is not related to the series at all, but if that was the case, why does it explain Mika and Yu’s relationship so well? • All the official visuals show Mika and Yu always strangely more and more close to each other • Bears. If you look in the backgrounds and some of the visuals you can see bears always being seen with the two of them. It is known that the symbolism for stuffed bears means “love”. • Mika’s reasoning for living is Yu. He even stated how he would be okay with dying as long as he could see him one more time. • The amount of how protective Mika is over Yu is not “normal”. Even if someone was not hurting him, his expressions are almost the look of someone who wants to kill. • Yu didn’t even realize THE MAN WHO KILLED HIS FAMILY was right beside him because he was too busy staring at Mika to notice. • Yu always notices Mika’s presence before any of the Shinoa squad, he sometimes doesn’t even acknowledge them. • Yu-Chan is always trying to get Mika to drink his blood, and Mika refuses to drink anyone elses.

Now getting to things I’ve noticed in the game.

• In Mika’s description it says Mika thinks FONDLY of Yu. This word is not lightly used in Japan, even for family it is rare. Being fond of someone is usually explained about someone who that person is in love with. (Also, I think it was proven canon Mika has feelings for Yu, but I could be wrong.) • You can basically make Yu and Mika get together. If that doesn’t say anything, I don’t know what does, honestly. • They mention wanting to adopt children together.

There’s so much more signs that’s Mika and Yuichiro are MORE THAN “Just family”. Either Kagami is blind to his own writing or he doesn’t want us to know MikaYu will eventually end up canon. I just hope he’s not stupid enough to throw away such beautiful potential, and disappoint the majority of the Fandom. Also, I found it kind of funny he mentioned most of his fanbase population is males, when it’s quite the opposite. Kagami has set up Owari no Seraph so perfectly for MikaYu to be canon, his manga would become majorly popular if they were to become officially together. Especially considering it would be the first Shounen to have the main character be in a relationship with someone of the same sex. I’m hoping he won’t throw this opportunity away, but instead will reflect on what his Manga clearly shows: The love between not just family, but something much more.
