write that book. publish that blog. apply for that job. dye your hair. cut your bangs. pick up that hobby that you’ve always wanted to try. wear that outfit that you loved but were too afraid to put on in public. life is way too short. be whoever you want to be, and do whatever you want. stop waiting for the right moment, because there will never be one. sometimes you just gotta say fuck it, and do it! live your life the way you want, and don’t ask for anyone’s approval.

Hot tip for college students in dorms: if you put a load of laundry into a washer or dryer, make sure you set a timer on your phone to come get it out once it’s done! Not only do you ensure your clothes don’t get gross and/or wrinkly in the shitty machines, but you also lessen your chance of your clothes being taken out and placed on top of the machines.

There are eight washing machines in this dorm and all but one are filled with clothes waiting to be switched over. The remaining one is out of order :)

The way I can tell this website is full of antitheistic racists who think religious trauma is a permanent permission to be horrendously awful to anyone who even remotely isn't willing to just shit on religion universally is because there's no way I could make a post talking about actual Catholic genocide that would have people be even the slightest bit acting right, because they're still not actually aware of what intersectionality actually means.

Parisian lesbian fashion needs to make a comeback. I want to see dykes in monocles and tuxedos at my local gay bar!

Just look at these queers and tell me this doesn't go so hard!

babe you're not going to subliminally convince me to wear a monocle in public. suit yes. silly little mustache yes.

but im one of those Weird Sunglasses dykes. please respect that

You make a compelling point for the Sunglasses and Suit look. Might I recommend:

i would gladly wear those w/ no complaints. esp w/ a suit

those sunglasses were made for a very large Phidippus audax

People who like HTTYD and don't watch the shows make me so sad, like, you're missing out on so much bestie

Seriously. Some of the better character development, stories, and characters come from the shows. Specifically, Riders of Berk, Defenders of Berk, and Race to the Edge.

Forewarning on the last one, there is apparently antisemitism there. For more on that, you can see @athingofvikings and/or search up Trader Johann and antisemitism. It's a spoiler, but may help.

Here's one such post pointing things out. Still recommending the series, but just something to note.

Here's another. Also, I did end up watching The Nine Realms? Actually do like some of the characters there (D'Angelo, Alex, Jun) and some of the dragons too (Feathers, Wu and Wei, etc.) but like...it's not without its problems either.

It's a fun series and a lot better than it has any right to be. But still has flaws like anything else. Not enough to put me personally off of recommending them (except maybe The Nine Realms), but still.

I completely agree (aside from the Nine Realms thing, I just do not vibe w it). There is a marked lack of diversity in the franchise as a whole, and what little does appear appears in exclusively villainous/non-speaking roles. (This is something that TNR does rectify for itself however) And this is a problem in both the shows and the movies in a pretty bad way.

As much as I adore the HTTYD Netflix series for being a well-written continuation of the first movie into the second, the many examples of what I really hope is unintentional racism just makes me so tired.

1. Trader Johann the (eventually villainous) antisemitic caricature. I would have been more okay with this if there had been other Jewish-coded people, if not actual Jewish people in the series. Look, they keep mentioning Norse gods and other countries that exist IRL, like France and Italy (mostly via the Nuts), so why no Jews? Come on.

2. Krogan, the only visibly nonwhite person with any major role… Also a villain. LIKE COME ON, WHAT THE FUCKKK.

1&2. These are also the only 2 villains who remain unredeemed (well Ryker dies, so i guess he’s here too). Alvin, Dagur, and Viggo all get to improve.

3. Mala, queen of an entire tribe of dragon-worshipping citizens who dress up like ninjas and who herself wields a single-edged curved blade that looks like a katana… Being a blonde white woman with an English accent. Do you know how annoying it is to me, as an East Asian woman, who has lived my entire life revering dragons, to see this AMPLE OPPORTUNITY TO INCLUDE ASIANS IN THE HTTYD SERIES, just see it fly by?

4. The Wingmaidens are a tribe of all women and were added for “diversity” according to a creator interview, yet their leader Atali is… A strawberry blonde white woman with (I think) an Australian or Kiwi accent. There are darkskinned Wingmaidens, but they are nameless and faceless background characters. FOR WHAT REASON COULD ATALI NOT HAVE BEEN NONWHITE, or the corollary WHY DID SHE HAVE TO BE

And then in the second and third HTTYD movies, we have a black-coded man and Mongol expies as villains. It’s just… Whyyy… How many people did these decisions go through and how did so many of them think these were all okay…

So aggravating. Clearly not enough to turn me off watching and there’s so many great things about the series, but like… I’m so, so, so tired.

Anonymous asked:

What if somebody had an accident while edbella were still having their high-school shenanigans? So the family is forced to move, does Bella move with them? Does she realize that the poor victim could be her any moment? If that's somebody she knows (which is the most likely, given Carlisle has perfect history and Esme doesn't leave the house, so children at school are the most likely candidates), does she finally understand how this whole "soulless stone cannibals" shit works, or is it still not enough?

When?

This is important because we have two stages to Edward and Bella's high school shenanigans, during Twilight and during Eclipse.

During Twilight, Edward intends to dump Bella, until the birthday party fiasco he would likely have chosen graduation and let Bella leave to college while he and his family disappeared, but he always intended to leave her. Neither has gone the six months without each other where both sunk into a non-functional state of depression.

During Eclipse, both Bella and Edward have tried and failed to live without the other. They see each other as their only salvation (with Bella baking vampirism into that mix as well). Neither can contemplate a future without the other meaning... they're uh probably willing to put up with a lot more.

So, I guess I have to answer the same question twice so I don't get an ask inevitably in my inbox.

Caveats

As a note, Bella can't be anywhere near where it happens or uh she'll probably be eaten too since that's how these things go. So, unless you want another dead Bella, she's not a witness.

This is important.

Twilight

Bella has just figured out what Edward is, she's met the family, had her James adventure, and is determined to become a vampire while Edward continues saying no.

They go to Prom, it's a wonderful time, until Jasper accidentally eats Jessica Stanley (poor Jessica, what a life).

Edward, of course, is livid as Jasper ruined what should have been the greatest night of his life and is horrified that now Bella knows the truth.

Which is, of course, why Edward covers it up immediately. The family has to cover it up anyway, Bella has no reason to find out that Jasper ate Jessica and that the family really is comprised of demons. Edward absolutely does not want Bella to know this for all he knows it'd be for her own good.

Edward's fine with this as he takes this as the impetus to leave town and dump Bella.

(Likely, they stage a car accident, one to be expected on prom night. Jessica is the tragic victim of a sad teenage statistic.)

The Cullens stay to the end of the year, Edward acting... weird and standoffish, then Edward gives Bella his "it's not me, it's you" speech in the woods and disappears into the sunset.

Canon proceeds as planned until years later, someone unthinkingly mentions the time Jasper ate Jessica.

Eclipse

Now Edward's torn.

This is the ultimate proof he needs to show Bella that vampires are blood sucking demons and she will literally lose her soul if she becomes one.

On the other hand, Jacob is now his rival and this time she'll dump him for sure.

Edward... is selfish enough... he can't do that.

Oh, he drops strong hints that Bella should dump him for Jacob, Jacob's a better man, a human man, but uh "don't dump me for Jacob, I'll steal your car battery if you try to see him".

So, gaslighting continues.

Edward covers up the murder with the family and there's a lot of drama as the family can't really leave town what with the army on the doorstep as they would be leaving Forks to die.

Leaving Bella's also off the table as they would be sentencing her to die as well (Edward's not thinking about this part).

Everyone's told that Jasper stole medical blood in preparation for the battle.

Bella doesn't find out the truth until years later, if ever.

In Conclusion

Gaslight is Edward's middle name.
