the main problem i have with america is that nothings old as hell there. i cant be so far away from a castle it damages my aura

man people really just say stuff on here huh

Noooo haha don't spread racist ideals and colonizer propaganda by idolizing white european aesthetics above all else and denying the life and accomplishments of native peoples on their own lands

I work in postcolonial USAmerican history (museums in New England, Revolutionary through Victorian) and I constantly find myself correcting tourists who say we "don't have anything as old as in Europe here"

they don't usually mean anything by it; they're just not thinking and often get a bit embarrassed when I gently say "nothing EUROPEAN that's that old." but I will keep saying it until I run out of breath, if necessary

(also some pueblos are still occupied! Acoma Pueblo has been continuously occupied for 2000 years! which is incredibly cool!)

I've lived in Maine my entire life and never knew there was a 4,000+ year old American Stonehenge just a few hours away in Salem, NH. It's a beautifully maintained park, and one of the directional alleys points straight toward my ancestors homeland (Lebanon) 🥰🥰

It was a great place to get engaged!!

"You can't ship that!"

lol what are you gonna do, climb inside my mind and shut off the imagination switch?

This kind of response always fascinates me, so while I've got you here, can I just ask: legal by what standards? Do you mean real world standards, where laws vary from country to country, and in the case of the US, state to state? Or do you mean the fictitious laws set in place in the fictional setting of the ship? What standard exactly should we use to tell people "you're not allowed to enjoy this fictional thing?"

I know you didn't mean any harm by your response, but I feel it's important to reiterate that nothing gives anyone the right to police what people do in a fictional setting, full stop. Because at the end of the day, it's fiction, it's a fantasy, none of it is real, and so real world rules and standards do not apply. So, as long as you are not actively causing harm in a real world setting (i.e. harassing real people over fictional ships) then you do you.

a very important addition

Everyone pushing the line on the "It's immoral to depict any content that's illegal!" stance are either going to be massively horrified or massively thrilled if LGBATIQ content is made illegal again.

So if that's *your* stance, I've got to wonder which one you are, and why you're so comfortable with the company you're keeping.

My little sister's new boyfriend got a tattoo for her about a month ago and he wanted matching tattoos so he decided to get uh. The tattoo on her ankle of her ex boyfriend's name that she hasn't gotten covered up yet

She broke up with him but I also just got the same tattoo

OK my dad also got it

DYLAN!

It took five months but we finally convinced my stepmom to also get it

My fucking manager got it

y'all do i get the dylan tattoo as my first ever tattoo?

Today’s bird is: This black vulture trying to hang out with my neighbor’s ducks

(Video comes from my neighbor, it hung out with them for several minutes.)

Screenshot of an answer to the question, “Have you ever tried to eat at a restaurant, which happened to be a mafia front, but you didn't know it was a mafia front, and everyone inside just stared at you when you walked in, because nobody actually eats there?”

I have an answer for this one!
Years ago, I was going to see the Cleveland Philharmonic with my girlfriend and we were looking for a place to eat before the show. We felt like Italian food and found a place that looked really pretty outside (but didn't have windows - that should have been red flag #1 to be honest!)
We went in and the place was absolutely deserted, but decorated to the rafters with old world charm.
The sign said 'seat yourself' so we did. We noticed a few guys in suits coming in and going directly into the kitchen (red flag #2) - we were, however, young and stupid and didn't think anything of it.
One guy noticed us, stopped and stared for a minute, then went into the back - about 10 seconds later, this lovely old lady came bustling over to us and greeted us like family.
There were 'no menus, but I'll make something you'll both LOVE!'.
We had, if I remember, something like 12 different courses of the best food I have ever eaten in a restaurant. Nobody else in the place except the two of us, this old lady, and presumably, the suited guys in the kitchen.
When it came time to pay, she would not accept money, told us it was her pleasure and insisted that all she wanted was a hug and knowledge that we had a great meal.
We went back a month later and the place was gone.
I often wonder A: how I was that stupid, and B: What ever happened to that lovely old lady.
Mafia or not, she made our evening both wonderful and memorable.

thought they needed a little reminder that they still have far more to lose if they double down on this stupidity. spread the word, it seems they're... very forgetful about this.

A small collection (feel free to add):

@staff You're not very subtle.

[ID1: A screenshot of Tumblr's support request page. The category for support is Feedback and the description reads:

"Hey, remember how you settled a discrimination bias lawsuit only last year due to the severely sloppy porn ban moderation predominately targeting the LGBT community?

Well, with that in mind, and the fact that you're already struggling to turn a profit with this site, I highly recommend taking a look at whoever on the moderation team is actively going out of there way to falsely flag as many posts talking about trans people as "mature content" despite not having any mature content.

Do you really want to risk another lawsuit defending a staff member's immature vendetta?"

ID2: A collection of screenshots.

The first is the Tumblr search results for 'crossdressing'. There is a pop-up reading "Hold your horses! These search results are likely to contain content which does not comply with Tumblr's Community Guidelines. To help keep everyone safe we're not displaying any content here." There's a button reading "Learn more".

The second is the Tumblr search results for 'tgirl' which has the same "Hold your horses" pop-up.

The third is a screenshot of a Tumblr post.

@/foone posts "Me: I'm trans Tumblr:"

@/catgirl-kaiju reblogs with "We reviewed your post and determined it needed a Community Label."

@/notaspy11 reblogs with a screenshot of the post, showing that it has a Mature Community Label, and stating "Literally beyond parody".

The fourth is a screenshot of a Tumblr post.

@/transmortifried (deactivated) posts "ayyy guess who got her navel pierced today", with two attached images of herself. The first is her showing a peace sign to the camera, and the second is a picture of her stomach, showing the navel piercing.

@/transmortifried reblogs with a screenshot of an email from Tumblr. It reads:

"Hello transmortifried,

We've reviewed your classification appeal and after careful review, we have determined that your post is considered adult under our Community Guidelines.

Don't worry, this post hasn't been deleted, it is just hidden from public view.

For more information about what is considered adult content, please see our FAQ support post or our Help Center.

Thank you, Tumblr Trust & Safety"

She states "yeah okay it's a pattern"

@/zenonym (deactivated) reblogs with "and now they killed my blog! you fuckers!"

It is worth nothing that neither blogs have the typical "deactivated-date" appended to them, indicating they were most likely deleted by Tumblr rather than deactivated.

The fifth is a screenshot of a Tumblr post.

@/zenonym posts "staff fucking nuked me right when i complained about my selfie being flagged as mature content

too convenient for coincidence"

@/zenonym reblogs with "i had that fucking account for over ten years".

The sixth is a screenshot of a Tumblr post.

@/predstrogen posts a screenshot of her Tumblr notifications for Thursday, July 20th and Friday, July 21st. They're fully taken up by notifications that read "We reviewed your post and determined it needed a Community Label", for 15 flags total.

The seventh is a screenshot of a Tumblr post.

@/demilypyro posts a screenshot of a comment by @/telltaletypist reading "if there's one thing i know about being a trans woman it's that absolutely nobody gets weird or judgy at us for expressing sexual desire".

She comments "This is true I think, everyone just has very normal and even-minded thoughts and opinions about transfeminine sexuality".

@/demilypyro reblogs with a screenshot of Tumblr's 'Request community label review' pop-up. It reads:

"We have determined that your post contains content that would be better suited with a Community Label. While it does not violate our Community Guidelines, a Community Label has been added to your post so that it is only presented to those who wish to view that material.

If you think this was done in error, you can Request Review. Please include a short explanation with your request:"

There is a text box below, with text simply reading "come on".

@/zoethiahs-little-pillow-fort reblogs with "No honestly I think it's REALLY important that people see this. Literally the exact same post, sans trans people, and it didn't get flagged."

They attach a screenshot of a post by @/sounddesignerjeans, which is identical to this post (containing a comment from telltaletypist about how 'nobody gets weird or judgy at a man for expressing sexual desire' and a response from @/sounddesignerjeans identical to @/demilypyro's comment.

@/sounddesignerjeans reblogs with "By the way, this post has been reported as missing a community label by several people and still isn't marked mature. So it's not even that the original post got reported and this one didn't.

Tumblr's official stance is that trans women are considered explicit content."

@/gaycatastrophe reblogs with "@/staff @/support

hey remember how tumblr just had to settle with NYC's human rights commission for discriminating against LGBTQ people in your implementation of the NSFW ban? We do.

They attach an article titled "Tumblr is setting with NYC's human rights agency over alleged porn ban bias".

Whilst the dates are not visible, demilypyro's reblog containing the Request Review form was 19 minutes after the inital post about transfeminine sexuality was made, and sounddesignerjeans' reblog commenting that their post about male sexuality was not flagged despite multiple reports was made 19 hours after the inital post.

The eighth is a screenshot of a Tumblr post by @/predstrogen.

She posts two pictures of herself; the first presumably pre-estrogen and possibly pre-transition, and the second presumably whilst on estrogen and transitioning. She is noticeably more feminine in the second picture.

She captions the pictures "not even a full year apart… we stay silly :3 [cat emoji]".

@/predstrogen reblogs the post, with a screenshot of a notification reading "We reviewed your post and determined it needed a Community Label", and another screenshot showing her flagged posts. It shows that this post is flagged as requiring a Community Label. She comments "literally fuck off lol"

@/predstrogen reblogs the post, with a screenshot of a notification reading "We re-reviewed your post and determined it needed a Community Label", and another screenshot showing that this post still has a Community Label.

She comments "tumblr has doubled down and after almost a week re-reviewed MY FUCKING TRANSITION and decided it still needed a community label for sexual themes

fuck this website and fuck every person working there you pricks".

The ninth is a screenshot of a post by @/predstrogen. She says "OH COME ON THEY FLAGGED MY FUCKING PINNED POST? IT'S JUST MY BIO"

@/predstrogen reblogs with a screenshot of her pinned post, which has a pop-up on it reading "We reviewed your post and determined it needed a Community Label".

The pinned post reads: "Pinned: Hiya!!

It's Avery, or Moira. 21 years old. Bigender Trans gal, and a Poly Bi Lesbian. I use She/Him, she is preferred. I'm from Ireland and Disabled" (the post is cut off)."

She comments "GET A FUCKING GRIP ALREADY".

The tenth is a screenshot of @/i-aint-even-bovvered's Tumblr account. Their account's title is "Actually Jaskier". Their account's description is "Queer/Enby (they/them) Jew/ "Nearing 30" - my roommate".

A post is visible, reading "welp, my blog has been flagged as mature content for some reason". /end ID]

@staff sincerely, fuck you

twitter is like. DNI with me unless you are a perfect clone of me. and tumblr is like. hi. you share exactly one interest with me. would you like to subliminally influence each other's thought patterns through funny text posts until we develop a hive mind? yeah? cool.

Gee, I thought these people were the ones who were like “If you don’t like it, you can just move to a blue state.”

And now they’re mad the guy is doing just that?

You can’t oppress and discriminate against someone then be mad when they take their highly useful skill elsewhere.

His point is basically that he’s going to go where he’s wanted. Guys like Brett realize, as he’s leaving that he’s actually beneficial to the society he’s leaving. If he wasn’t, Bret would be celebrating. This brain drain they’re fretting about is entirely of their own bigoted doing. If they’d thought about retaining great contributors to society instead of culture wars, there’d be no issue.

And the guy still is doing his job, by the way. Saving sick kids.

He just wants to do it in a state that doesn’t hate him and his family.

Atlantis was one of the last (if not the last) Disney animated film to feature real gun violence. In films after Atlantis, guns would either be  science fiction in design (like in Lilo & Stitch or Treasure Planet) or wouldn’t be fired (there are a few exceptions where they are fired for comedic purposes, such as in The Princess and the Frog.)

In Atlantis Milo actually had a pet sidekick but it was scrapped because the creators wanted Milo to be able to express his emotions without “making a sad face” to his animal companion all the time

they really tried to be different in that movie

it was the first scifi movie Disney made

it’s a shame it flopped

also Kida was originally light skinned and had red hair

let’s see what else

I’m sure everyone knows about the “fewer songs, more explosions” shirts the cast wore

they had a copy of the sheperd’s journal on display that was made and people actually thought it was a real thing and were like “woah bro you have it” and the director was always like “woah bro we made it up”

oh and also they hired and studied several linguists who specially designed the Atlantean language from scratch. They even had one of the actresses listen to a tape of people speaking the language so she could get it down right

well it was her choice but

anyway

this has been your useless disney trivia post for the night

you know you're good at your job when every single person tells you "thank god you're back"

Boss makes a dollar You make a dime You read unsanitary pirate slash On company time

Look if you read fanfic on the clock and everyone is still relieved that you're back you must just be that got-dang good at your job
