i mean i know that in general spn was allergic to giving any substantial, fulfilling relationships to cas outside of dean and sam, but i just keep thinking about all the comments the angels made about him that implies that - at least by a good few of them - he was generally very well-liked!! i am obsessed about how incredibly upset hester was at how broken cas had become, how she screams at dean for corrupting him?? “too much heart was always castiel’s problem”???  how quick the angels were to flock to him in season nine and have him be their leader???? how much did castiel’s fall feel like a personal betrayal to so many of them? it was such a fascinating dynamic! and it was barely explored! dean is often treated almost as if he is the starting point of castiel as character, as cas learns to feel and chooses free will, but we know this is not the first time he has disobeyed! he has been the odd one out for many thousands of years!!! i am banging my pots and pans in the kitchen yelling for more background exploration of castiel’s life as a heavenly soldier!!!!!
