pentagon is a group that brings so much positivity into their global universe (pun more or less intended).

there's the obvious but no less meaningful input into their music/lyrics that makes you want to look up even with darker themed concepts, and it's there because there are ways out. there's always a message of hope, friendship, love, at least the promise of light at the end of the tunnel, something that tells you that it's okay to be who you are. and it's why their prism tour vcr (while, you know, it was mostly doing an excellent job of showcasing their amazing looks) was really cool to me. it's also why i love naughty boy so much. the idea of doing things on your own time, realising your potential in a way that's personal to you and is independent of other people's expectations, i would have loved being more aware of those things when i was a bit younger. 'just do it yo' is initially a cute phrase, but when you associate it with the way ptg 'just do things' it's really cool to me. it's okay to mess up things. it's okay to give up and retry later. and also to give up and be proud of yourself for respecting your own boundaries.

i'm just really happy about that specific aspect of pentagon. in the obvious but also less in your face parts of the image they project, always letting us know it's possible to see life as more than just a speed lane where you can only go forward and never stop. the change in perspective is refreshing and i'm thankful for it.

Another thing, but that happens in every book, not just the last one, is that no one ever adresses MC as Asra’s/Nadia’s/Julian’s girlfriend/boyfriend, and I think it’s really nice. The one thing they’re called is their partner or companion, and I just think it’s… very thoughtful. Because it’s not based on the pronouns you choose, it takes into consideration non-binary folks, he/him lesbians in Nadia’s route, non-binary/demigender folks who use gendered pronouns etc.

I’ve been thinking about this for some time but it really struck me when Julian introduced MC to Nazali like

Julian: “This is MC, my, uh, my…”

Nazali: “Yours, yes.”

No gendered terms, just “partner”, which can mean different things (partner in the investigation with Nadia, for example).

my favourite trope is “antagonist and protagonist narrowly avoiding each other in the same space” and The Emperor’s New Groove nails it perfectly I wish more media did stuff like this

Emperor’s New Groove was ahead of its time for a multitude of reasons lmao

you know that feel when you have to put the fic aside before you even start it because you KNOW you’re not ready for the emotional toil it’s about to inflict upon you

Honestly… “weird mogai” nonbinary genders aren’t just for questioning teens. Y’all pretend to support teens with unconventional genders, but in the back of your head, you expect them to eventually settle on a “normal” gender. Like, maybe most of them will settle into being binary trans or one of the Preapproved Nonbinary Genders™️, but there will be some of them who become adults who still are felisgender and uses kit/kits pronouns or voidgender with it/its pronouns. And they’ll still deserve your support and respect.
