☢ I love this post so much! I love this post so much! I want to jump on how much I love this post! ☢
☢ In fact, I was quietly waiting for you to watch episode 2 because I wanted to hear your opinion. I understand that your professional activities are related to nuclear reactors? /enthusiasm
I have, unfortunately, neither a scientific nor a technical specialty, I'm just a drawing teacher. Nuclear physics, radiation is just my autistic special interest so I could be wrong on the details. And I'm glad if a more knowledgeable person will correct me in my mistakes. I just really, really love everything that has to do with radiation, reactors, nuclear bombs, radioactive elements and need to surround myself with all this in any form ☢
☢ Of course, I take some "liberties" consciously in the setting, because I position it as fantastic and, in many ways, metaphorical. What is happening in ION, in addition to the technical component, is a metaphor for the feelings of the characters, for their emotions and state of mind. In the opening monologue, Cracklin describes the hyperfixation he is experiencing as a nuclear chain reaction because it makes it easier for him to explain what he feels because of his autism. And the real explosion at the nuclear power plant is also a metaphor for the "explosion" in his life.
I make some assumptions in order to create a more fascinating scenery for the viewer - for example, barrels of nuclear materials in the turbine hall were hardly supposed to be there. But they look so epic and nuclearrrrr! /pos ☢
☢ Cracklin is able to pick up alpha radiation because he has gone through several upgrades in the past (I'm going to show this in the series). When creating Cracklin, I relied on two dosimeter-radiometers familiar to me: the Chinese model BR-9 (I have one at home) and Radioscan 701 A, which is also capable of capturing some alpha radiation ☢
☢ I may not be as good with nuclear reactors as you are, but I planned that Silverfield Station would have some kind of experimental reactor that would do some extra work and do some testing. Sorry for not being specific here, it's plot related.
As for Chernobyl, I absolutely agree with you. I know that the explosion is not a nuclear explosion, although it is commonly called that by the people. ☢
☢ Thanks a lot for posting your opinion! I was happy to read your thoughts :) ☢
