One of my favourite bits of media history trivia is that back in the Elizabethan period, people used to publish unauthorised copies of plays by sending someone who was good with shorthand to discretely write down all of the play's dialogue while they watched it, then reconstructing the play by combining those notes with audience interviews to recover the stage directions; in some cases, these unauthorised copies are the only record of a given play that survives to the present day. It's one of my favourites for two reasons:

  1. It demonstrates that piracy has always lay at the heart of media preservation; and
  2. Imagine being the 1603 equivalent of the guy with the cell phone camera in the movie theatre, furtively scribbling down notes in a little book and hoping Shakespeare himself doesn't catch you.

You telling me that Jack Black would not be 1000% down to be kidnapped by the muppets for a shenanigan, or possible a hijink?

Mr. The Frog still sends me more than “we all agreed a celebrity is not a people”

Sorry I'm late, I got added to the Wild Hunt last night and ran and reveled with them for what felt like 100 years plus a day until I landed the killing blow on a stag with bronze antlers then suddenly woke in my bed, willow leaves in my hair, a nameless song echoing in my ears, and my hands still bloody, so yeah, totally missed my alarm and stuff.

Absolutely insane lines to just drop in the middle of an academic text btw. Feeling so normal about this.

[ A Critical History of English Literature, Vol. 1, Prof. David Daiches, first published in 1960 ]

Introducing the phrase "found family" to fandom spaces was a mistake. Now half of fandon wants to force their "found families" into neat little boxes like "this is the dad, this is the mum, this is the fun uncle, these ones are siblings", even though the entire POINT of found family as a concept was to reject traditional family structures as the norm and rigid ideas of what a family even is, and then they get big mad whenever even dares suggest something romantic or sexual could happen between two completely unrelated mature adult characters they've arbitrarily decided are "parent/child" or "siblings" based on basically NOTHING in canon and start accusing that potential relationship of being incestuous. That's not how that works! That's not how any of this works!!

"damn I'm crying over an insect" "why am I having such strong feelings over how the sky looks" "it's weird how happy this small thing made me feel" THAT'S BECAUSE YOU LIVE HERE!!!! you live on this earth. everything all the time is an experience, no matter how common or mundane. this world is unique. so are its small moments. it is good to enjoy a tiny thing. you love the world even at its smallest scale.

Its all “i love putting guys in situations” until were on a filler episode. Where are the REAL putting guys in situations lovers.

“It dosent progress the plot!!!” Have you never been on a whimsical journey that did nothing to change you as a person.

being an adult is just dragging urself kicking and screaming to things that you will enjoy and that will be good for you

me: so what job experience do you guys bring to the team

guard one: well, we have a lot of experience with breakdancing—

guard two: no we absolutely do not. but we did guard these two doors for a bit

guard one: i killed jfk

guard two: he didn’t

me: guard two, if I asked guard one if he killed jfk, what would he say?

guard two: he’d say he didn’t

me: got it. now I’d like to ask you about some—

me:

me: wait what

What's weird is I'm usually a horribly awkward person in 1to1 conversations, buthe moment I get any sort of stage or crowd attention I'm in my element. And then the moment I get off the stage I sit in a room and read for 16 hours.

You hate me for my news of the goings on in the neighboring dutchies and dales.
