WEAR YOUR FUCKING MASK!!! TERFs are not welcome here. I am queer, pagan, a medical laboratory scientist, (sometimes) a creative writer, and a recreational mead maker.

23-29. Mixed fibers.

Finally came back to this one and finished filling it in! An interesting experiment- I love the interplay of colors, but filling in all the space instead of leaving open spots adds a lot of time. It's also hard to focus on simply filling in for so long, which is why I took a break. I do like how it came out, though!

Anti-Lighthouse Matchbooks

I feel like I’m missing context here. Is this hate directed at lighthouses in general or these lighthouses in particular? And for what reason? Did the dinosaur from The Fog Horn make these? Were the makers possessed by the spirit of an ancient Macedonian who really hated Alexander’s construction efforts overseas? Or were these lighthouses built illegally or something?

oh this is not even CLOSE to the angriest chickpea looks. at any given moment she has the face of someone about to knife you for bread in the sewer. this is just how her face is! a selection of miss piss for your perusal:

I like photos like this because a) workers realizing their own power is good, and b) out of context it looks like these two are announcing their ability to attack you, so don’t try anything funny or Garth the flight attendant will maul you with his teeth

I know, I know, gatekeeping the outdoors, that's supposedly bad, right, but I think if you show up to do a hike and you brought a portable speaker with you to play music while you hike, I think, like hear me out, there should be a gate, and someone at the gate should keep you from doing the hike.

playing music in public should get strong social disapproval

Recorded music, anyway. Live music is different rules. If you want to lug an entire cello up a mountain you can do whatever the hell you want.

Carrying a speaker on a hike to make everyone listen to your bullshit, and simply sitting under a tree and playing a fiddle in the woods, are two activities so different they may as well not exist in the same world.

I think the critical difference is that the bringing of recorded music with you ties the space to Elsewhere, whereas the creation of live music with an instrument you brought both binds you to the space, and drags everyone who hears you play into it as well.

I think you're right.

Yeah I'll accept this into my belief system.

as a child I wondered why adults were so stupid (doing things out of habit/routine/heuristics rather than reasoning explicitly about what to do based on their goals) and the answer is that adults are unimaginably fucking tired all the time

I’m a huge fan of how rhodochrosite can either look like beautiful pink flowers, like pointy red crystals, like little Barbie-pink orbs, or like meat

[ image description: rhodochrosite in each of the previously described forms, ending with some rhodochrosite stalactite chunks that look like breaded hams and one piece that looks like a raw steak growing out of a rock. ]

This is your reminder that a lot of public libraries actually have little summer reading programs for kids AND adults!

We even have PRIZES for when you finish filling up your sheet with stickers!

Support your local library. There may even be a sticker for you at the end 🌟

They you realize the bird is smarter than you and actually checked first.

Reblog for the full length one… because you know heaven forbid people credit artists for their hard work that made us laugh or smile.

"Until recently, a visit to the Colorado River’s delta, below Morelos Dam, would be met with a mostly dry barren desert sprinkled with salt cedar and other undesirable invasive plant species. Today, that arid landscape is broken up with large areas of healthy riparian habitat filled with cottonwood, willow, and mesquite trees. These are restoration sites which are stewarded through binational agreements between the United States and Mexico, and implemented by Raise the River—a coalition of NGOs including Audubon"
