V. 36. Lesbian/Queer. Jewish. She/Her/Hers. Editor. You like spaghetti, George? I like spaghetti. I like board games. I like grabbing a trifecta with that long shot on top... that ozone smell you get from air purifiers... and I like knowing the space between my ears is immeasurable... Mahler's first, Bernstein conducting. You've got to think about all the things you like and decide whether they're worth sticking around for. And if they are, you'll find a way to do this. And what if I don't? Then you go away, and you don't get to like anything anymore.

hello!

I’m V aimmyarrowshigh, she/her/hers, 36. The fandoms I currently post the most about are the MCU (especially Captain America and Wanda) and Star Wars, but I post extremely varied content -- I do tag everything, so your blacklist should work with the basic name(s) of whatever you don’t want to see. You’re probably here for...

DRABBLES

If you’re not here for drabbles, you may be looking for my graphics tag, my askbox, or my fanfiction tag. If you can’t find what you’re looking for, send me an ask and I’ll point you at the thing if I can. :)

I am also disgusted and upset and disappointed by the ao3/OTW’s treatment of volunteers and Legal’s initial take on the possible CSEM gifs. Do you think writers/readers should stop using ao3? I don’t want to lose it but I don’t much want to be associated with that behavior either. I don’t know what to think, I feel powerless.

Short answer: NO, I don't think people should stop using AO3. AO3 is bigger than its board and is an unfathomably important archive. Its goals and intended purpose are incredibly valuable. AO3 deserves to survive this. Its current board, legal team, TOS, and COC do not.

AO3 has also expanded to a size and age beyond anything that the standing TOS and COC can handle, and they need to be revised immediately. Like, "Legal needs to all resign and the new legal team needs to competently draft a TOS and COC valid for a site of AO3's volume within the next two weeks" immediately. The fact that the current TOS is loopholey enough to allow csem and hatespeech is frankly idiotic. And there needs to be an immediate election to overturn the WHOLE standing Board.

weeaboos on AO3 are desperately pearl-clutching that someone might stop them from using the swastika in their userpic and like, girl... you are the worst kind of white person

>:( I'm mad for no real reason, I'm just Mad like a toddler gets Mad, so I'm gonna solve it like a toddler and I'm gonna go get French fries and pet a doggy until I'm less Mad >:(

What we watched: Just My Luck

Why we watched it: McFly (and accidentally, Chris Pine)

What we thought: LiLo's troubles make a lot more sense after watching this movie.

Fun fact: this is the first episode that was available for early release for our Patrons.

That's right! The Fan Girl Flim Club is officially live on Patreon, so if you have a little extra scratch and want early episodes, exclusive content, and other goodies, come and check us out!

In total honesty, as a non-lawyer, like, if they want to take that hard-line of a stance about absolute fair use and absolute freedom of speech, then they need to ban ALL images. Because you cannot have actual csem on an otherwise-legitimate site, period. It's the Nazi in the punk bar. If ONE fic out of eight million has csem gifs in it, then we ALL do. And I feel like I've been played as a fool for defending AO3's broad reading of fair use and freedom of speech because I, as a non-gross person, never DREAMED that someone would do that. But of course they would and did. It's the internet. And the TOS either needs to be COMPLETELY rewritten with STRICT definitions of what is and is not allowed in either text OR images, or they need to keep a broad reading for text and ban all images. Like. I just can't. I've felt so gross all day.

We’re dancing in the moonlight! 🌙

Dancing beneath the waves, the gentle pulsations of moon jellies create a mystical show. Their translucent round bells and fine thread-like tentacles float elegantly through the deep blue sea. Even with no brains, bones, or teeth in sight, these celestial creatures are a supernatural delight.

If you are following any discussions about the OTW, from End OTW Racism to the AI discussions to random other shit, I would strongly strongly recommend you read this comment and replies from an ex-PAC volunteer who was the AO3 Abuse Team's go-to volunteer for handling CSEM (real actual CSEM, suspected CSEM, or CSEM distribution attempts; not Wincest extreme underage) and who was "fired" from the organization by a legal team that appears to be running roughshod over other stakeholders in the org and contributing to a broadly abusive and horrendous environment for volunteers. You can use Dreamwidth search, if you have an account, to find terms like "PAC nonny" and see earlier comments as well.

I am a long-time OTW skeptic and I find this information to be horrifying in the most serious possible way; this kind of mismanagement and abuse will have long-term impacts on volunteers, and is indicative of carelessness and incompetency that IMO is likely to threaten the long-term viability of the org. In addition, it is breathtakingly cruel behavior.

The OTW failing to act on escalating CSEM harassment, failing to provide volunteers with appropriate support after being exposed to CSEM, failing to safeguard Policy & Abuse via appropriate processes and technical support, and failing to behave ethically and fairly with regards to dismissing a volunteer their board members disliked, are all completely unacceptable. It's genuinely horrifying stuff and the OTW should address it.

I've created a carrd from these linked sources to hopefully explain this a little more comprehensively.

The OTW is abusing its volunteers egregiously and it must stop. The carrd focuses on the chain of events azarias describes and their impact, with quoting from her own relation of events via FFA.

Please do distribute the link if you are so inclined.

the OTW has responded to #EndOTWRacism and alluded to azarias' testimony in doing so. They have made no specific or time-bound commitments to fixing these issues. Let them know what you think: https://archiveofourown.org/admin_posts/26218

Thinking about Bucky in Romania and how every old lady in his apartment building probably adores him because he’s this handsome, strong, man who always helps them cross the street, and keeps those whippersnappers from stealing their purses, and holds the door open, and is just so baby-shaped to all of them.

This would also explain how he got so beefy, from all those adoring Eastern European grannies being like "big strong boy needs lots of food" and "too skinny look at your bony cheeks" and insisting on bringing him pots of homemade dishes, and being a good boy who grew up in the Depression, he wasn't going to let any of it go to waste.

Fandom is not about cancellable opinions it’s about sharing and spreading art and fics and gif sets and poetry and showering each other in praise and tearing up because someone said something nice about a thing you made and writing posts that say reblog to give the person you reblogged this from a kiss on the forehead actually
