Spoiler alert: adulthood is 96% of you going “well, I hope this is how it works and I’ll keep doing it till someone yells at me”

I like these posts because you read them as a teenager and you think, ‘surely these people are blowing it out of proportion’

AND THEN YOU REACH ADULTHOOD

i am in my 40s and can fully fucking confirm this is a pretty big chunk of adulthood. the rest of it is mostly doing what you’ve figured out you definitely don’t get yelled at for.

the other 4% is figuring out ‘did I deserve to get yelled at for this’ and proceeding accordingly

The youth ban is still in effect, but as Erin Reed says in this tweet now attorneys don't have to split their resources and just tackle the youth ban.

please don’t forget that the bill banning gender affirming care for youth also bans it for people on medicaid and people who are incarcerated.

The game introduces new mechanics to avoid the infamous video game dead-end known as “Monster Closet syndrome”

What is Monster Closet syndrome

It’s when you put a ton of effort into a game, and it ends up very cool, but you never get to actually fight any of the cool monsters you spent all that time making

There are many good things you can do with monsters other than fight them. You can admire them for example. People on this site also like to make out with them.

Yesterday I stopped by the river where I get driftwood and there were antlions!!! I went and got @revretch (who is holding the larva here)

We've lived here 7 years and not only never seen a single antlion before but I couldn't even find any inaturalist observations of them in almost our entire quarter of Oregon.

I wonder if their range increased or this was just exactly the right time to see them.

I went back to this location and it was completely underwater from the river rising :( We had kept three of the antlions though and today they each ate a ant

I never looked too deep into their life cycle but what I now know is that they can not only spend several years as larvae, they will go months between meals and like many invertebrates they mature a bit slower the more those meals are spaced out so unless these are right on the brink of pupating (which they might be) we could theoretically have them a pretty long time before they become adults, which I'd just let go wherever there's sand nearby
